Hi Romy, don't be so hard on yourself. We all go through those "ick" moods when nothing peaks your creative spirit enough to accomplish anything. No worries, it will subside and before you know it you will be stitching away! I vote for the short pattern. Seems the most suited to you. I enjoy watching all of you young gals who are taking up sewing. I'm impressed by the skill levels shown and the willingness to try new patterns and new skill levels. Keep up the great work!

I have to increase the rise by 2” on trousers I always add from the waistband as I’ve no idea about alterations

Oohh the SOI Ruby skirt would definitely be a great fit for your Italian fabric, it's one of my favourite patterns. There is also the free Sabina skirt by The Little Pomegranate which could look lovely too :)
