LAKHE DANCE; The charm of Indra jatra.
LAKHE also pronounced as LAKHEY Searching for his patron goddess Taleju (Kumari).
YENYA, mostly known as INDRA JATRA is a eight day long yearly street carnival to celebrate the inaguration day of Kathmandu city. Along with the procession of three chariots of living god Ganesh with Bhairav and living goddess Kumari so many religious & cultural ceremony is celebrated in this week.
Among them LAKHE NACH, a demon searching for living goddess Kumari who is the incarnation of goddess Taleju is one of the charm from this carnival Indra jatra.
We can see lots more LAKHEY NACH from different parts of Nepal but the main one among them is Majipa Lakhe Nach; the only one from Kathmandu (Majipa/Manjupatan, the city formed by Manjushree now known as Kathmandu) highly respected and adorned as Demon Diety Shanta Bhairab also known as the protector of children where lakhey nach from different parts of Nepal simply means for entertainment for the natives of Nepal-Mandala.
