I originaly bought Firestar from the peterson musuem. It barely ran. I did allthe upgrades inthe engine compartment sermintine belt pin striping, AC etc, made the bullets out of SS redid the airbags, seat belts, put onthe Johnny D emblem. I still have an extra tailight, hubcap,pearlwhite dye for the interior etc he bought it from me at auction about 5 years ago. If i could figure out how to enclose some pics i would

Not going to be much of the original body left after you replace the floor pan and cowl. Big step forward getting the body clean and sealed.

@@fluorescentmug8333 I don’t think there’s any “high end” quality tools anymore, just more expensive. Harbor freight has really upped their game in quality with a realistic price.
the ecto 1a did that in ghostbusters 2 during the montage after the courtroom catch which was actually a clip from a deleted scene where ray get possessed after the museum visit and drives like a madman take the corner reeeeally sharp

Was this a custom yellow? Probably the best looking pearl yellow I have seen.
@@Speakingdatruth kinda, the base yellow is a Chevy code and the pearl yellow is Mazda code. The more coats of pearl the more intense. It’s my favorite yellow I’ve sprayed.
@@CrashCustomsaz came out fantastic. Something I plan on doing for a Restomod Honda. Grabbing the phoneix yellow solid yellow and tweaking it with a pearl like you done it. So it's still the original shade but with a modern pearl effect.
@@Speakingdatruth sounds like a good idea to me. I’ve done similar to other stock colors that people have wanted to pop more in the sun.
Brass isn't a good idea if you don't get all the slag Off it will bubble.

@@careygale2315 thanks for the positive comments! The exhaust walls I believe I bought from autobodytoolmart.com. They pull the same amount of air as an in enclosed spray booth. They’ll pull those heavy curtains. If fab topps is the same as work benches some have plywood tops, 2x4, 1/4 inch thick aluminum tops. Really I just look for used ones for sale when I need them.
@@CrashCustomsaz yeah man you're welcome! Autobodytoolmart was my go to store when I lived in Alaska, still is if I can't find certain tools. That's funny I have been looking at those exhaust walls, I thought of getting one for my shop but the size I was looking at is over $6100, and also thought of building a paint booth! My shop is bare bones right now, just had it put up back in February. Looking forward to your next video!!

why did you need to replace so much of the 1/4?
@@johndillinger8482 backside wasn’t so great and welding close to body lines is less likely to warp the panel as opposed to cutting and welding in the middle of the panel. Also looks cleaner when you open the trunk and see the backside of the 1/4. More than one way to do it though
You can buy steel brush drums for these. That will help remove pitted rust.

Is the owner going with steel wheels and hub caps? Not a fan of vinyl tops but at least it's not white. Looks like a front drum brake car so you're wide open for wheels. The 68 Super Stock II wheels are really hard to find. Wheel Vintiques makes a pretty nice reproduction 14x6 Super Stock I wheel that would look really nice on the car with some redline G70's. I found an NOS Craig 3122 FM/8 track I installed in my Rallye 350. We all had 8 track players in our cars back then.
@@SPSteve he does have the stock steelies with caps. Current plan is to have two sets of wheels both with redlines, stock and maybe Keystones. Any aftermarket wheel picked will be what was available back in ‘68.
Nice work! I've always loved the swoopy rounded bodies of the 68's and 69's. I hate vinyl tops, ugly as sh*t. Is that going back on? God, forbid it has a white one.
Good lines for sure. The vinyl is going back on since it's a factory restoration. Not white, it's a medium pearl green. I think I show it in the intro video. I'm not a vinyl top fan either.
Nice work. Is the car going back to Jade Gold? If the car is getting W36 fender stripes be sure to put the fender emblems in the right location. The non-stripe emblems are farther forward.

When you paint the motor be sure to use the bronze paint from Thornton, everyone else's paint is wrong.
