Having gone to film school when this came out, I loved the shots. The story was okay, the dialogue was great. The editing was good. Very well put together piece of art.

Jumping ahead a bit, I don't understand something about the movie. When Kim wants to go out of country later, it is stated she needs her father's permission. But Lenore is married to her stepfather at the time. Does that scene perhaps have something to do with Bryans work? Or am I missing something else?

🤔 I'm not sure what California's laws are, but maybe Kim needed her biological parents' permission. Lenny could have easily gone to the court and say Bryan was unfit to need his signature so Kim could travel out of the country but that would incredibly dishonest since I'm assuming he has visitation rights and they have no solid proff of confirming how unfit he is. I mean, who knows. Maybe they tried using Stewart's name but told them only Lenny and Bryan could sign since Bryan is still in the picture of Kim's life.
@@LilyZerep I know in a lot of cases the stepparent gets married, but the child does not take their last name, sort of them not being "legally adopted," so to speak. That might be a scenario too? Hence making Bryan the legal parent

If anyone is say take them on with you're shotgun, New York laws aside take this into account, if they are going in knowing there are people there they'll be aggressive, they'll be armed and they'll be in the mindset for violence. You on the other hand would be surprised, scared, confused, half asleep and most people, especially those who always say they would do it DON'T have what it takes too be that violent! Ironically those whom seem the least likely are the ones who would succeed at first glance are the ones who can bring themselves to do it and she is one.

@@bbchurch7978 It's made quite clear in the book "Mark of the Lion", the book about Charles Upham, he is one of only three men and the only combat soldier (others medical) to earned the Victoria Cross and Bar, symbolizing a second award (the bar was fpr five acts, one or two oc VC caliber and the rest added as it looked less embarresing). He was a hardcore antihero goofball you wouldn't expect to be a badass. No problem, I'm not always the best at expressing myself.

You might not believe this, but my mother’s side of the family are Uphams (in the U.S.), one of her brothers was named Charles, and another, a WWII vet himself, had a vendetta against Steven Spielberg for depicting an Upham as cowardly in Saving Private Ryan! My uncle said he never met a cowardly Upham in his life! You express yourself just fine, by the way.

I honestly feel bad for my granddaughter’s dad. He gets visitation but it’s not the same. My daughter’s new man has horses, dogs, and is really good with my granddaughter. She never wants to go to hers dad’s house. I feel bad for him because he really loves her a lot. Now he’s been deployed for a year. Hopefully one day she realizes what a great guy he is. She’s young yet.

Bryan Mills have truly the rightful thing of being Kim her very first Birthday Present in the scene of the film. And Lenore was being a total jerk on him that's for sure.
IKR? She was really rude in every interaction possible: she didn't want Bryan to directly give her daughter the present, then she insisted when the daughter was about to open it, and finally, when she opens it, Leonore dismisses the gift in front of her daughter. Man, I can understand that she's pissed of him, but those actions talk about a really toxic person...
