Don't charges need to be detonated? I think that is why they were transported as they were to negate something happening. I don't believe they were transported all in one container.

@@chrisroberts7900 Much easier to transport quantities in containers. Every shell you see was on carts, trucks, trains back to trucks back to carts then carried by hand. That's not to mention the ones transported by airplanes, ships and animal wagons. I might have misunderstood your statement, but everything was crated in the war. It was also how to keep quantities numbered in cases, hence all the writing on the outside.

The more I learn about the technical part of Nazi military, I am astounded at some of the brilliant minds that were around a hundred years ago. On the other hand, I am glad they did some of the most ignorant, outlandish things imaginable. Like the evelution of the MP38/40 I believe it was. I think one year they produced 140k units, but only about 67k made it to the soldiers hands because of minor insignificant imperfections.

@@ww2militariaunknownhl589 Can't post links or pictures here, but if you google "zdlg C/98" for example, than it gives many pictures of it. Your piece used to be inside of the charge, there are some pictures that show all parts of it including that, and there are some technical draws showing it as well.

There should be a year stamped on the top part of them somewhere.

Oh and they're kinda dangerous, these little thingies can make a way bigger explosion, than we would expect from the size.
