Who's Romney?

America the world's remaining superpower. Obama the world's most powerful leader. What happens there, eventually happens here. More or less. So you'd think that we'd all be on top of the election. I'm not talking about the ins and outs of economic policy, but at least we should be able to name the man running against Obama. Well, you'd think....

The Vice Presidential candidate for the Libertarians told Newslab that his party will win the US election in 2016. Optimistic? Or a true assessment of future American politics? Our North American Political Editor, Steven Buckley, looks at the role of minor candidates in Presidential politics.
How many US Presidents can you name?

US Presidents have led the world during major moments of crisis. And let's admit it, they've also caused a few crises of their own over the years. With that in mind, you'd think we'd remember a fair few Presidents...
An American in Bournemouth
Переглядів 13 тис.11 років тому
While most think that America is about living the American dream, some prefer to leave and seek a life of happiness and fulfillment elsewhere. Some even think they can find that here right here in Bournemouth! Indeed. Education, the NHS, the Royal Family all things that we Brits like to moan about seem to attract the odd yank. Even the rain doesn't seem to put them off. NewsLab's Chris Rickett ...
Body language

It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, and that's what gets results. Candidates are not just taught how to make effective speeches, but they're also shown how to walk, talk and act. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. We don't always realize it, but body language is key to communication, especially in the world of politics, when you're trying to get people to like you. Most ...

How does the media cover American politics?
I’m an American dual citizen with UK and lived in Bournemouth nearly 20 years. I lived just up the road from that pub which I’d been to many times. Benny Hill & Christian Bale went to school across the road from my house. Bournemouth University’s film school and Arts University Bournemouth played major roles in the lives of my two sons and I. My oldest became an actor at 5 years old. After being asked to do a bit part in one of his films I also got the acting bug. My first film was filmed in the Studio there at BU. Surprised our paths haven’t crossed. I was there into 2016. One thing I disagree with the gentleman on is being able to get anything American food wise while in the UK. I spent over 20 years searching the uk for fried okra. Finally gave up and moved back to Texarkana.
Great, he loves both England and America. That about sums it up.
You have only come home brother, welcome back
There's good and bad in all systems, but he's right, we do belittle the UK , we are reserved but I am sorry to say this, we are reporting on more violent crime. The times they are a changing.
Somewhat off topic, but I went to uni in Southampton about three decades ago. A bunch of us back then spent many happy weekends in Bournemouth. What a great town!
I'm British born and moved to the US at age 26 and I have to say he's more British than I am (in a good way). Level headed, thoughtful and insightful.
Why has he got a Yankee accent if he is British?
Fiona Gregory it's a mix of both from the environment he was raised and that he is living in
He lived in the States since 1. He loves both.
he is has half english and half american accent lol nice video
Being swamped by McDonald's is no recommendation. Health tourists also think the NHS is a good thing.
anghinetti it is!
I think he came across as fairly ambivalent about the McDonalds takeover. I think he was warning the UK years ago that it would happen, and, as he said, "no one is laughing now"! He's a very nice guy indeed.
Very interesting , I agree with him about Americans being very inward looking . When I was over there at the time of the British election . I was trying to find the result . I had a paper, I forget which one. Which was in 7 or 8 parts each the size one of our Sunday's . In all that there was one paragraph of about 10 words mentioning it. I found it truly shocking all those guns. I went into a sports shop . One floor was nothing but guns !!! The Americans are one of the kindest ,generous people on the planet . but why all those guns I will never understand !
This is embarrassing.
amazing Hannah, so proud of you :)
