🔁 Basimilus Iteritas Alter by Noise Engineering 🔁 🎧 (no talking) 🎧
This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Basimilus Iteritas Alter by Noise Engineering.
This beast just keeps on delivering. It is such a versatile unit that produces sounds from relatively gently pluck sounds to all out distorted gabber kicks. The possibilities are so vast and unknown it is just a matter of keeping twisting the knobs until you land on the spot you never know you were looking for. Noise Engineering has released the Basimilus Iteritas Alia to replace the Alter due to a lack components available. They apparently sound almost the same. When I'm looking for something special, this is the one!

✈️ Alesis AIR FX ✈️ 🎧 (no talking) 🎧

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Alesis AIR FX. The Alesis AIR FX was released in 2001 and it wasn't much of a commercial succes. At the time I was very reluctant to go on stage with a laptop of any sort, so I was always on the lookout for performative instruments. This ticked all the boxes. Just put it between a sound source and an input and start sculpting your sound in the air...
🌶️ Behringer Spice 🌶️ 🎧 (no talking) 🎧

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Behringer Spice. According to Behringer the Spice is a Analog Semi-Modular Polyrhythmic Synthesizer with 2 Oscillators, 4 Sub-Oscillators, Multi-Mode Filter and Dual 4-Step Sequencer. To me this is just an (shameless) excellent copy of the Moog Subharmonicon. At that price point I just couldn't resist buying it. I love poly-rhythms and this beast ...

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Roland JX-10 also known as the Super JX. When I first heard this synthesizer I was blown away by the warmth of the sound. And to be honest, it still does. Once in a while I turn it on and indulge myself in its analog richness. I gives me strong associations with the Twin Peaks series, which I am a big fan of. It has a lot of cinematic qualities no...

This is a video demonstrating the possibilities of GRM Tools Pitch Accum. The GRM Tools bundles are so wild and inspiring. Even to the point that it gets too wild. And that's exactly why I bought the whole bundle. I totally support their dare devil approach, even if it sometimes feels like I am trying to tame a wild horse. The Pitch Accum is an excellent example of this. It goes wild, but with ...

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Manley NU MU Stereo Limiter Compressor. Let's start off by saying this is an amazing compressor. It has that punch in your face quality while remaining transparent. Especially on electronic music it really shines, I would say it is in its own league. But... this thing doesn't come cheap, I know. Still, I would start saving again if it somehow got ...

This is a video demonstrating the possibilities of the new Auto Shift from Ableton 12.1. I always try to see if I can use effects in different ways. This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Yamaha DX7. I hear you thinking: 'Another DX7 video??'. Well yes, because this instrument just keeps giving. It can give me some glassy FM sounds, some woody bass thumps and some frankly weird stuff as well. In this video we went for a more melancholic vibe, which it is also very capable of. The instrument is build like a tank and it has a promine...

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Roland DEP-5 Digital Effects Processor. Released in 1984 this year marks the 40st anniversary of this wonderful effect unit. It's an early digital unit and you can definitely hear the pleasing grittiness it produces. The knobs are wonderful colored and inspire to be twisted on the fly. I still use this unit regularly and it always produces sound I...

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Electro Harmonix Freeze Sound Retainer. The Freeze is one of those pedals I always fall back to. It is wonderful in its simplicity and very complex when actually listening to the sound it produces. It works great when performing solo since it gives you the possibility to record a snippet of your sound which immediately starts looping. When using a...

This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the RS909 by TipTop Audio. What can you expect from a modular rim shot? Well I was hoping for a high quality reproduction of the TR-909, which I got. It is a well put together sound module that cuts nicely through the mix. However, I was also hoping for some wildness, some creativity that goes well beyond the original. Unfortunately I didn't get that....

Yes it does.
Sounds awesome
Very nice! Sick beats… I love it
Have this one! Sad thing its so hard to program
get an editor lol

@sandik964 u will need pc sequencer and midi interface. go to google and search detunes dx7 editor - one of the known ones - i am sure there are countless (right now looking for one that can read patches from the unit itself - so that i could modfify existing ones rather than just transfer the newly made ones)
3:13 Alphaville-Forever young intro
Good enough for Paranoid London 👍
O wow! I didn’t knew them. Love their music!
What are you using for the percussion?
It is the 909 kit from ableton.
so raw
Not a fan of this new design of the TT-303 prefer the original which was like the original TB 303. This design looks like a sandwich box. 🤣 They could have added a few FX too like reverb and delay
This sounds amazing. What are you using to sequence the plonk?
Thanks a lot! I am using Ableton in combination with the Midi 1U unit from Intellijel.
David Morley vibes :)
Thanks for mentioning this wonderful artist!
I get my JX10 tomorrow and I'm so excited! It has the last KiwiTechnics upgrades kit just installed so it's going to be awesome!
That’s wonderful! Does that mean it has pulse width modulation?
Not sure. I’ll find out soon though
@@AndyJamesMusician If not, look for Vecoven upgrade. The best thing since release of JX10. Congrats on this purchase.
Why I don't use it? Because every time I want to, I'd have to find some stupid 1/4" jack to RCA adapters, this is so annoying it kills all creativity. Same goes for the Kaoss Pad 1.
😂 I guess it was meant for DJ’s who would simply use rca to rca cables. The only problem for me was finding the right power supply. It is quite power hungry with a 830 mA draw, so you can’t use any adapter lying around.
@@cutofffrequency Yes, they made these primarily for DJs. Not only is it quite power hungry but the power supply is AC -AC too. Which makes it even more difficult to find the right one. I was lucky to get mine second hand but with it's original supply.
Nice track.
Thanks!
The gas is STRONG, but space is tight! Could get lost in this forever
Excellent jam!!!
The JX10 is like a warm hug with a wonderful keybed attached to it. I had to sell an MKS70 recently to help fund a house purchase... I can see myself coming back to a JX10 soon. One of the all-time greats, and stil underappreciated I think. Beautiful demo, you really make it sing. 🙂
Are the sounds the presets of the JX-10?
I’m using the vecoven eprom. That gives you a lot of preset storage. There are quite a few presets available on the internet. I made a selection from those.
Is this synth based on the Moog Subharmonicon? It kinda sounds like it.
As far as I can tell. Yes. Completely.
Yes… the whole set would be . The crave(mother 32) the edge(dfam) and the spice(sub harmonica)
@officialknightowlz Cool!
I really like the sound of the spice but as with the edge it's harsher than the Moog filter subharmonicon or dfam sound. I'm actually thinking about ordering the spice to pair it with my subharmonicon😂!
Mines on backorder from Sweetwater...gonna be a good Xmas present 🎁
amazing synth🤙🌌😍
Ooooh yeah!!! Just found your channel searching for new Spice jams! This jam really tickled my whiskers CF! I received shipping notice for mine from Anderton's this morning! 🤘🐀
Welcome aboard!
dialed in right behind you for the same reasons; nice work with the spice @cutofffrequency ! amazing for the price (i'm not paid... i only have a deepmind 6 and tb-3... just amazing to see what behringer is doing for the cost)
Got mine on the 30th Nov. Absolutely love, its even great for ambient.
Sounds good!!!
Thanks!
Got mine yesterday, not been able to even unbox it as im working till monday 😢 Sounds fantastic though wow
Well those toys don't pay for themselves. Have fun!
I couldn’t agree more!
Awesome jam. Cant wait to get mine!
My pleasure. Have fun!
cool - I should play my spice more faster 🙄☺ and your sound is even clear and not that harsh as mine. Still figure out why...🤔 besides nice video!!!
That makes me curious about your setup. Thanks for the compliment!
That modulation fade out is amazing ,and the playing is beautiful :)
Thanks a lot. Will mention this to the player. 😊
Thank you for this video!
My pleasure!
This also has a guitar synth input feature. You can plug a guitar or anything else into it to make odd sounding synthesized versions of other music instruments. Not realistic sounding but you could make really weird interesting sounds if you experimented with it trying different things plugged into it. You can even run the drum sounds output back into the guitar synth input for some really unusual sounds. The only thing I really didn't like about this drum machine was that you had to either keep power plugged in or always have batteries in it to keep all the drum sequences that you programmed into it otherwise everything will be erased if you don't. I never understood why that Yamaha didn't make it hold memory without needing power like they did with their similar sized SU10 Sampler.
I tried the guitar input before. It is a lot of fun indeed, and quite accurate as well.
no talking demos like this are so under-appreciated. how's this only got 9 likes. what more do people want him to buy the module and install it for you? lmao. great work!
That’s a really nice comment. A appreciate it!
Thank you for this video. Really nice to hear the synth with no talking!
You are very welcome!
Totally agree...a gift for electronic music.
🙂
I love this thing so much! By the way, about the "personalities" (that's what Cyclone calls them), this is what it says in the manual: - Styles #1 and #2 produce fluid styles as a lead instrument, usually in 4/4 time. - Styles #3 and #4 produces simple or glitched bass riffs, generally in 4/4 or 2/4 time. - Styles #5 and #6 produce driving rhythm and lead basslines with an emphasis on dynamics and energy. - Styles #7 and #8 produce chaotic styles for creatively complex patterns as the lead instrument. Patterns will primarily be quarter notes or triplets and the length of the patterns may vary from one to sixteen steps. - Style #9 produces triplet styles for accompaniment or as the lead instrument, usually consisting of twelve notes with a 8th note triplet time scale.
Thank you for this informative post!
Great demo
Thank you!
sick. excellent demo. I need one.
Thanks!
This really shows how good a DX7 can sound. Their bad reputatuion comes in part because the presets especially were horribly overused, and people kept trying to make them sound like " real" instruments, which always took them to this weird auditory uncanny valley place where they sounded ALMOST acoustic in a way that could not help but be cheesy. By the late 80s digital synths had become out of fashion and everyone wanted affordable samplers and all in one workstations/touring keyboards, so these were basically all tossed in the trashbin of technological history That said anyone listening can tell this is a beautiful sounding synth, and if you play to it's strengths it is an excellent addition to anyone's studio, especially with the right effects Brian Eno still has several , for a very good reason
Well said! I couldn’t agree more. And thanks for the kind words!
Cool ideas! Might experiment with this
Thanks. Very curious what you will come up with!
❤
☺️
Is that a hypersynth cartridge? What do you have there?
@jmarvosa6x3 yes, indeed. The 701
@@cutofffrequency … nice! Got my eyes on one. I was also just informed of the PGX7 created by an independent owner (Volt Music), for a budget programmer. Check it out!
What are you using for modulating the mods
Behringer 182. Incredible value for the money if you ask me.
I like this a lot. I have one but have only just got it out of the box again. Your video has inspired me to muck about with it a bit more.
Ah thank you! And enjoy your ER-1.
Glorious machine isn’t she
Totally agree
Can the delay clock be syn?
As far as I’m aware no, unfortunately not.
Now add a punchy 909 kick plus a rumble and the next minimal techno track is completed!
I will definitely give that a try!
Great Demo! Are all those patterns generated by the "lab mode"?
Thanks! And yes, all patterns are generated by Lab mode. You have to put in your own selection of notes, though.
1:26 Kind of the least bongo-esque bongo module ever. Cool demo though.
Thanks!
Can you turn off the 'click track'
Only after you program the rhythm pattern. So not in live mode like I’m doing in the video.
Nowadays for 250 USD or less it's very good. When it came out it was like 500.
Second hand it starts around 200 euro in Europe.
@@cutofffrequency perfect price! there's no bad gear just wrong pricetags
Agreed!!
I saw one in a pawn shop yesterday I am guessing I can get for $35. I’m gonna go back and get it.
Good price! $35 is not a waste of money, I would say…
This is an amazing demo, and great to stumble on your'e channel while searching for the Electra One! Subbed! I was wondering, how much time did it take to map de controls? is it difficult to do? Did you found a preset, or did you had to make it from scratch? Really looking forward to you're experience! - Dolleman
Thanks so much! I am using a preset that is freely available on the Electra One website. Works flawlessly, even in realtime. Don’t forget to hit the edit button before you start tweaking!
