    Cleaning the lens- I ve heard number of times about this issue. Like sensors getting dusty.. Q: How often it happens? How long time it serves without or between cleaning? And you ve mentioned that it cost 500$, does it mean that during some years of use one should additionally pay this money to keep it in good condition? TY

    • @brianatkinsphotography
      @brianatkinsphotography 3 дні тому

      @@michaelvilshansky4866 ive never had the lens cleaned or sensor. I think leica cleaned it by default when they repaired my faulty lens but it wasnt something I requested or needed. I have tape on the mic holes on top of the camera, people say it helps keep dust out. Unless you shoot past f8 you would be pressed to see any dust spots in the event dust does reach the sensor. If you get a digital leica of any sort and keep it for a long time you should expect anywhere from $500-1500 for a repair at some point, depending on what fails. But I wouldnt say you need to pay for any cleaning services unless your sensor becomes filthy and impacts images. Just use the camera until it has a problem if it ever does.

    Great story about a wonderful camera! The story behind my S2 is nowhere near as interesting, but I just got it back from Advanced Camera where it received a much-needed CLA. It took longer than estimated, but it works fine now! I hope that you enjoy it for many years to come! 😊

    Nice video. My questions is, since I do understand the concept of an every day camera and of “simpler” setup, do you guys use SOOC images on the Q system? Because from what I have seen, it seems that I don’t see much people saying those love the jpg from a Q or all of them do post processing (jpg or raw). And that’s one of the reasons that I, in spite that I do love the Q concept, I do also recognize that I do love Fujifilm film simulation for images SOOC.

    Hey Brian, I stumbled on your page searching for some info on Leica cameras. So glad I did!! I subscribed instantly. Back in 2020 I bit the bullet and bought a leica Q2 but only had it for 2 months. I sold it in a panic due to the uncertainty of our world at that time (pandemic lol) and my wife convinced me to sell it, they never want us to have any fun. I loved it for the short time I had it and I wish I would have kept it. I didnt even get to name her. Im new to photography in the sense that I've had a DSLR camera and I know my way around the exposure triangle etc but I'm nowhere near an expert or know what I'm REALLY doing. I just enjoy the art of photography and I want a cool camera that will last a long time to take pics of my family. Would you recommend the 240 or the Q/Q2 system for casual photo taking? Thanks

    Excellent video bro. I had a Q2 for a few months but sold it in a panic during the pandemic. I didn't even really get to know it, give it a name or understand the power it possessed. I think total was around $750, $500 for the lens repair, $250 for the skin change. If you check their site it should list the color options and price. If you dont need your camera repaired you can reach out to cameraleather.com for a skin, or try hugostudio.com as well. Then you can DIY it or have a local repair shop do it, price should be a fraction of the cost if you go that route.

    There is only one company that seems to be holding its own: Canon. I own a Fujifilm X100S which I purchased new in 2014. Last year, I decided it needed a sensor cleanup, and I also wanted to take the opportunity to have the display replaced, because there was a small scratch on it. Display was still fully functional. I called the Fujifilm repair center in New-Jersey, explained what the problem was, they told me to fill in the form and send the camera. I sent the Camera, with the filled form as instructed. One week after, I received the camera, with a note: Camera out of warranty, no spares, return to sender. I was surprised since the form I filled in did not exclude any year of model. I will continue shooting the X100S, and I will upgrade with a Q3, not with a X100VI. Fujifilm clearly does not care about supporting their product. Now that the X100 series is successful, they don't even need to make an effort. No more Fujifilm for me!
