About not being able to add comments to tasks. This is what I do: 1. Use one task per note, or one task per note heading. 2. Put the task first at the beginning of the note or heading 3. Add whatever I want under the task. 4. Using templater, I created a date/time template and put it on a hot key. Now, every time I want to add something to the task, I write below and begin with inserting the current timestamp.

I have just downloaded Obsidian and I have not yet used it so I came here to check a few functionalities that might be useful for my personal needs. There are probably loads and I will investigate further but most of the functionalities mentioned here also exist in Ms Word. Or am I mistaken?

I thought a map of content was just a way of collecting together a dynamic list of notes on a particular TAG, and was getting frustrated that you were not telling me how to use some community pug in to achieve a list of files. Listening to this I I realise that this would be entirely against the philosophy of my learning, I want to engage with my reading via effective note taking not mechanise it. Your use of a purpose Title of the Map of Content really does focus my thinking. What I also realise is my own antipathy towards religion also almost lost me the opportunity to listen to your incredibly useful insights. This is a prejudice is something you have helped me realise - thank you so much.

A very useful video. I've spent the last several hours trying some of them out. The one that I can't quite figure out is Media Notes, where you go too fast for me to understand what you're doing exactly. The plugin's own documentation is also too scanty. If you were to make a video showing how to use it, I would be very happy! And grateful.

@MikeSchmitz I downloaded your freee Vault, but the Vault do not have this Canvas-Note, this in your video, in there. Can you also share this, because it is easilier than copa-and-paste the code manually? Thank you very much!

Thanks Mike for making this available for us. I downloaded your Kingdom Study Tools and drop it into my existing BibleStudyVault. There is an issue though, now every time I open Obsidian it starts indexing and for the number of files now it takes up quite a long time. Have you any experience on that, and maybe also a solution?

Why does the video stop playing in Media Notes when I start typing?

you did an amazing job at covering so many in a single video. kudos to that. i'm working on an obsidian plugin that helps users keep their vault organized, along other ai-powered features, such as templates. we have over 1k users and are growing, but the product is still a bit rough around the edges (especially our automatic organization features). you're quite knowledgeable about a lot of what's currently possible in obsidian. so i was wondering if you'd be open to trying it out? would be happy to send a free license.

This looks like such a good idea. I need to repeatedly follow a complex set of steps to impliment a project. I got as far as setting up tasks and my Master Task List. When I 'quickadd a new task', I get a message: QuickAdd: (ERROR) TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'apiV1') I know apiV1 is part of the js code inside the tasks plugin that you added. What should I do? I just bought your course. Maybe I should do that first. I wish I could find the complicated codes in your Canban setup to track these tasks in your vault download. Maybe it is coming? I hope so.

Well, actually you can attach notes to tasks. Just create a note with all the required context and create tasks in this note. Provided that I personally use dataview to merge tasks for a day, it works perfect and you can quickly open the note from a task. And it actually makes a lot of sense theoretically. Because it you need to put context to your task, this means that this task is not decomposed enough for your brain monkey (kudos to Tim Urban). In that case your task is actually a project and for that I prefer to create a separate note. You put context, relevant information and a bunch of tasks for this project to be completed.

Thanks very much for such a generous and clear explanation. I have been dipping a toe in the water with tasks in Obsidian for such a long time, but this has unlocked the roadblocks. Really appreciate your sharing this.

Can Templater create rules for multiple folders? I.e. using Template A for notes in Folder A, Template B for notes in Folder B etc?

That's really awesome. Finding your channel is the best thing that happened to me. Thank you so much for your efforts. I tried this out and added recurring taks. It worked great but I'm having a little trouble here. The issue is that my recurring tasks don’t show up in the upcoming days until I’ve completed the most recent one. For example, my scheduled gym sessions occur every Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday - they don’t show up on my list for upcoming weeks until I’ve checked off this week’s. Is there a way to have all the upcoming recurrences show? Thank you!

Why don’t you make a whole note for a task? I use the same method for whole projects and small tasks. For example buying new shoes. In the note itself I compare different models etc.

Thanks for the javascript quick capture. I used a normal quick capture until then because I also wanted to capture to a central task log. I started with a canvas, but ended up using a not with callouts, for mobile compatibility.
