No need to remove it just jack the cart up in the air of you font have a lift lole i donat work and just drill with a drill bit until all the mesh baffeling is put cause ot will reclog very quickly and all ot does ot prevents any type of flame or spark from comong put of exhaust incase of a back fire and they only put them on every cart cause California requires that spark resistance bafflong on the gplf carts.
