Leading up to the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout on November 17, Atlanta health and social justice advocates raised awareness about locally available resources to help smokers quit and the need to ban menthol cigarettes, which have plagued the Black community and other vulnerable populations in Atlanta and across the nation.

This event was held at the West End Library, in the heart of Atlanta, to provide tobacco cessation services, and encourage the community to pledge to "quit smoking cold turkey" in exchange for a gift card (for purchasing a Thanksgiving turkey).

The H.E.A.R.T. Coalition in partnership with Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids hosted a free community event to discuss the predatory marketing of BIG Tobacco, with special guest panelists, networking and entertainment.

The H.E.A.R.T. Coalition along with the Save a Girl, Save a World (SAGSAW) organization held a collegiate day event, sharing tobacco education and cessation programs with students at Clark Atlanta University in honor of the Great American Smokeout.
