    Does the engine run sloppy and out of balance with the balance shaft removed? Or hollowed out?

    • @WRPTechnology
      @WRPTechnology 3 роки тому

      No the engine runs fine with the Balance Shafts removed

    Thank you for the refresher. Now I'm confident I didn't miss a single step. I am curious as to why you used a ball hone instead of flat stone hone ? I would think to reduce tapper u would use flats but.....

    • @WRPTechnology
      @WRPTechnology 4 роки тому

      Ball hone is better for even honing imo, but I could be wrong. That engine turned out great though :)

    How would I go about the head gaskets for torque

  • @RussellBooth1977
    @RussellBooth1977 6 років тому

    Taper is usually at its greatest at the top of ring travel because that's right at where most of engine wear happens - right when the fuel & air mixture goes bang !!!! That's why the ring gap measurement is done at the bottom which is the most unworn part of the cylinder. I've had no trouble running stock 70,000 kilometre old RB25DE pistons in a 300,000 kilometre RB30 engine block, they are a tough motor & the new rings were a tight fit in the cylinders. The engine has done 200,000 kilometres since the build & is still good. I have another RB30 engine block & I'm unsure of how many kilometres its done,all I know is that I put 230,000 kilometres on it in 5 years & we bought the car with 227,000 kilometres on the odometer, but the pink writing on the valve cover told me it wasn't the original engine. It has a maximum of 0.117mm of piston to bore clearance so needs 0.020" oversized pistons & a rebore. Maybe it's done close to 1,000,000 kilometres.

    I'm doing the same to my Altima 2003 qr25 and I have some questions 1: is it qr25 the same as qr25de? 2. What brand of brand of main bearings and piston rings would you suggest me? What type of oil should I put once For the first start up? Thank you sir!

    • @WRPTechnology
      @WRPTechnology 7 років тому

      1. yes it's the same engine 2. factory bearings are fine, order from your local dealership 3. amsoil break in oil is what i suggest.

Could you please tell me where can I get them. You made a really great video thank you! Hope to see thousands of videos more from you!

    This guy seems knowledgeable, too bad he's generally despised in the Nissan community. And 2j racing already made well over 200whp+, but with a bit more than a piston swap.

Im burning about a quart every 300 miles now. it was every 600 about 4 months ago. so this video was a great example thanks for the info. if u could PM me with any other info that would be great. compression test came back good.

    These engines like blowing head gaskets, stupid open deck design with the pistons squeezed together so close like that leaves little material to stay in place. Luckily I never blew mine and got 180,000 hard driven KM out of the thing before I wrecked the car lol, also one thing you gotta do with this motor is delete the pre-cat because it likes to break up and get sucked into the engine. Never burnt a drop of oil!

  • @AndyMcDowell71
    @AndyMcDowell71 11 років тому

    Flex-hones are already over sized for the application you order for. A 3.5 inch hone is slightly oversize to accommodate that size cylinder, so your 3.75 is over-sized as well, and too big for that cylinder. Flex-hone also recommends 10-30w motor oil as a lubricant, WD-40 is too light. I'm not trying to be de-grading or anything, but why did you use the size you did and the WD-40? The information above is literally on the side of that box you had.

    I've rebuilt probably 4 engines and this is the best video that I have seen by far!! The proper terminology is being used, it's very descriptive, and Mr. Perdigon explains the process in way that most everyone can understand. He even explains the tools being used and why. Excellent video!!! I would like to see the pistons being installed. Thank you, Brian
