The Ar 196 literally has about a 10% lower wing loading than an A6M2. Of course that's not everything that goes into turning performance but it's a big factor. Ar 196 = 98.2kg/m2 A6M2 = 107.4 kg/m2 Further, at full power at sea level, the Ar 196s BMW 132 engine is putting out 1,050 hp, compared to the 940 hp of the A6M2. The performance in turning is not really a surprise. It has terrible energy retention, meaning that if virtually any fighter against it went vertical the Ar 196 would lose.@@PartiallyLoyal Also, the A6M2 stalls at about 110 km/h, the Ar 196 can go at LEAST as low as 112 km/h (as that's the speed at the end of its catapult launch), probably lower. Stall speed is one of the most important indications of which aircraft turns better. These are real life numbers btw.

If you're on PC, I hear people use mouse, I'm controller, so I just set free cam controls to RS. With joystick only, I'm unsure but assume stuff like HOTAS have sticks on the frame that can be used for 360 movement

Sincere apologies for the slow response, There's a few reasons that's possibly happening to you, 1) you have sensitivity way too high 2)possibly just yanking the stuck(not advised) 3)there's something weird in your settings Personally when I used a joystick I ran about 20-40% sensitivity on the pitch etc. Beware however there is a tiny input delay the less sensitive you have it,however unless you're practically a control master, I'd say it's far better with that tiny delay. I'd recommend for the axis's have nonlinearity between 1.5 & 2.1. Within that range. Nonlinearity basically makes the *amount* of input you put into that axis more important. So if you only slightly pitch up with the joystick it'll only slightly pitch the aircraft up. Basically makes it more specific in control instead of every input being similar in strength. With loops I'd advise not taking sudden sharp movements. That's bound to make you wingstall. I'll consider making a general piloting tutorial eventually when I get better at post commentary
