A320 Home Cockpit | **NEW** WINWING FCU | Up close | Fenix A319
Hi all,
A quick video just to show some initial shots of the new WinWing A320 FCU.
The unit arrived here in the UK a few days ago and got shipped out via Evri. Quick traceable delivery, no postage fees, no import fees, all at the lovely lower preorder price.
I waited about a month on the preorder for this unit.
The unit is excellent and I will probably do a review at some point. Initial impressions are excellent. I like the tactile feel to the rotation of the encoders, the push pull function is very smooth and pleasing. The adjustable brightness directly through the sim and configurable with mobiflight is fantastic too.
For now enjoy a quick video showing the power up self test, photos and shutdown of the unit, all linked directly to the sim power state without the need for any configuration.
Check out the WinWing FCU via their website:

Cheers,

Hello all and welcome onboard another flight video. Today we join the return of this mornings easyJet service from Gatwick. The airport at Madeira is a fun one with the curved approach. I will probably upload an arrival video at a later date as the approach was flown slightly unstable - but hey it’s a game so it’s just a bit of fun. Hello everyone, Something a little different today. I recently have started flying on VatSim for most of my home cockpit sim flights. The level of immersion when having other aircraft and real human ATC is unparalleled. I decided to make this video for a number of reasons. Hi all, Welcome to another update video on my home cockpit build. I thought we were long overdue one and a lot has changed since the last. The sim is progressing along nicely. Progress has slowed down a lot, things are still being done though. Hi all, Welcome to another video, today we will be operating on the VatSim network, with Microsoft Flight Simulator and the FBW A320Neo. Hi all, Welcome to another video. In this one we will be flying the A320 Neo from Amsterdam Schiphol EHAM to London Gatwick EGKK. This is flown using real weather and real time, online with the VatSim network. VatSim is something I haven’t done much of in the past couple of years. The soft keys aren’t fitted yet so the control comes through some buttons hidden in the MCDU. Sadly the Fenix isn’t working with my FCU so as it stands I’m back to the FBW A20N until it’s patched. @@ToxinuousTT the EFIS is coming out on the 8th October which has the Baro setting on it. The feel of WinWing doesn’t match the real Airbus but for cost and for the job it’s designed for, it is spot on. No other Airbus hardware can be bought that cheap. Even the full CP Flight unit I have doesn’t feel like the real thing, so higher pricing doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. I cannot comment for Skalarki but I imagine it will be much the same. Personally I rarely continue the SID on MSFS if there are no controllers online because to me it’s uncontrolled airspace, once handed from tower to Unicom I will do my own thing, ie climb to cruise unrestricted and take a shortcut if possible, being aware of other passing traffic to not cause issues. If ATC then choose to come online I will just advise them what I am doing. I find VatSim takes itself way too seriously. More seriously than real life, which sadly ruins the experience at times. Don’t let the flight simulator ATC bully you out of flying the aircraft when you’re perfectly right to fly where and how you like in uncontrolled airspace! Remember that you are the pilot flying the aircraft and ATC is there to help you. Ultimately it is up to you what and where you fly ;) if they want something different when they log on, they should advise you after you tell them your current intentions. In the case of the LAM6M SID shortcut I would advise ATC when they log on, on initial contact “XYZ climbing FL120 direct BPK” and let them issue you a different clearance if needed. I hope this helps, wishing you blue skies and happy landings! Cheers, Sam

    Thanks for the insightful video! 😊 Do you know whether LGW approach speeds and configuration differ much from other airports? And you demonstrated the downwind-base-final circuit style of approach, are the speeds and configurations (flaps down X NM from THR, etc) much different for a straight-in approach? But maybe this is a good topic for another video ;)

    • @My320Sim
      @My320Sim 20 днів тому

      @@mr.airspace hi! Thanks for the comment. For the LGW speeds etc, it varies I guess with what aircraft you are flying but director will generally get you back to 220 knots and then 180 until established on final, at which point it’s 160 to 4. I see in the Airfield AOI that it says speed between 180-160 knots. There was a NOTAM enforced late last year though requiring 160 knots by 7DME and maintained til 4. I can’t vouch if this is still current - not yet at least. Gatwick does vary a bit from other places. The AOIs for some airports demand speed management and the ATC will just expect it, places like Barcelona or Amsterdam for example, but other airports like Pisa or other smaller places, they don’t tend to have published speed management so it comes down to pilot preference. You may find going into these places that one crew may wish to do an ILS at 160 to 4 or they may wish to do 180 to 6, or just fly it fully speed managed on the Airbus and decelerate with it. I personally prefer 160 to 4 but it’s not something you can always do. For Gatwick though and especially in the Airbus 319/320 you would be looking to fly clean at the 220, then decelerate to 180 taking flaps 1, if your S speed is just above 180 then you can select 180 and fly just under S speed but if managed in terms of speed it won’t go below S speed. Anyway, I digress. Then they keep you 180 to turn final, so to plan ahead you take flap 2 when the Glideslope indicator is 1 dot above, then take 160 when told. For straight in, I have only had it once or twice but they say to keep high speed, so we ended up doing 250 knots down to an established base leg to like 3000’, speed brakes out and it still wasn’t enough, so we dropped the speed off and got to flaps 2, took the gear and it was all good all before even turning localiser, sometimes they will push it when they try to give you a quicker arrival, but it’s key to remember that if it isn’t something you feel is going well then fly the plane first and relay it to ATC. After all we are the ones flying it and not them! That said it’s always been a well run and efficient experience into LGW and the same can be said on VatSim, they do a great job of controlling it and it’s very close to reality!

      @@mr.airspace hi, thank you! The FCU was one I bought a while ago, it’s a second hand CP Flight unit which I got back in 2019. I used to have a 737 MCP and EFIS which I traded in against the FCU and glareshield. In all honesty I cannot recommend the unit from CP Flight, the push-pull functions aren’t like the real thing and the unit itself relies on the CP Flight driver. The driver works for the FBW A32NX but with a lot of limitations, eg the chrono button will crash FSUIPC, the Master Warning lights have the issues mentioned in the video. The company said a few months ago that they now support the Fenix Airbus with it too. It doesn’t work at all with that aircraft, I uploaded a video with the issues on my channel for them to address and a month ago they said they would look into it after their holidays. Nothing has happened yet though so their support isn’t good either. I saw on Facebook other people with the same issues. I’m looking forward to the WinWing units. I plan to replace the whole glareshield with them as they work out of the box. Plus, the WinWing stuff has mobiflight support, which (for me) means that it will work with the panels I have built, not requiring another software to run. Sorry it’s a long answer but no I didn’t build the FCU, although I’m sure if I had it would work much better than this one! 🤣 The WingFlex unit does look incredible though but sadly it is very expensive!
