I've found their load data to be very good.

The only gauge Ive used that. Has worked has been the 100 round armanov checker. Not cheap and hard to find now. But it is 100 % accurate.

I polish the spud on my Dillon powder through die. That helps. Also, not all 45ACP ( or any other caliber ) case wall thickness is the same. Kind of like how some primer pockets are tighter than others with some brands like S&B. When we size the brass, we are sizing to an OD. Thicker brass then will have an ID that is a little smaller than brass with thinner case wall thickness. That thicker brass can therefore be a bit stickier. It’s not a huge difference, but can contribute. I also find that the powder funnel can stand to be re-polished periodically. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

I use Lee dies with zero problems. Good video. When you try to get your case unstuck and bang on the handle I think your powder drop might change.

I have the same Lyman power measure but I can’t for the life of me get it adjusted to the to throw my powder weight

Over my many trips to the indoor range I was able to find and accumulate enough of small primer 45 acp brass. Probably over 1000 , which is easier to get primers for.

I have never spilled powder 😉

I noticed all my reloading manual books say Federal 150 for 45 ACP not mention any other brand primers. What is the reason for that? Thanks

Also wet tumble cases beforehand and it will clean the inside of the case.

I use one of those Redding T7 turret presses but I really like the RCBS stuff, I'd like to get one of their single stage presses to set-up for single operations as a second press. sometimes its nice to slow things down and enjoy the process, I agree.

I also will invert the cases to show which ones have been processed, I get interrupted despite trying to not to, I've found another easy way to keep track is to have an empty space in the loading block at the start that gets filled with the processed case and repeat so the empty space separates the batch.

I agree about needing to plunk test new bullet 'dummie rounds' and first of a production batch but I still use the lee ammo check on ALL rounds I make, sometimes I catch a split case that I missed when prepping(the round doesn't fit the case check then) or a bulged case that needs extra pass in the Lee factory crimp die to re size it(or even several passes with slight rotation), also I check the primer depth then(rarely that's when I find a round that didn't get a primer at all-what a mess!)

as a new reloader I might be more sensitive to new information; I really like your production and look forward to many more especially 9mm, 38/357 and 45 acp since that's what I reload using a Lee 4000, but all content appreciated! Some more in depth videos dealing with troubleshooting, potential problems, determining best powder load,etc.

Great series. Learned quite a bit and feel more comfortable now trying my first rounds to reload. Also have a much better idea now on the exact equipment I need to begin. I would love to see another series on a different caliber. If you want to do that from start to finish. Excellent series on the 44 special.

You can use a washer inside the LFCD and use the micrometer bullet seat stem. I emailed LEE and suggested this when I tested the pre release stem and they were already aware of it. I don't use it though because I 3D printed a collar that seats on the die body and another that seats on the stem with a pointer and it has thousandths and half thousandths adjustment using the standard old o ring friction stem. I also made a solid steel stem (from an old pacific 44 spcl decap/expand rod) that is moveable to any FCD or universal expander to use with my floating NOE (M) copies for the LEE universal expander bodies. Just one more thing I've always loved about reloading...the possibilities are endless in what you can do to make something better or at least more useful.

Good series, Jesse. I employ the exact same method to leave a “witness mark” on the tops of my seat and crimp dies to make it easier to adjust the setting. Been doing that for years. It’s a little tougher to do on steel dies as opposed to the softer Lee aluminum does, but it can be done. With a steel die, you can cut a small groove on the edge with a file, and fill that with white paint or nail polish. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

The wall hanging brackets are handy as well for storage, first rate products.

I also see when using flat points the depth is lower than what the book says, if you want to get anywhere close to the cannelure.
