Taylor GS mini sold guitars to own it amazing best guitar ever?
Both sound good. The GAD seems to have a bit more bass. The D40 has a more even sound. Seems like you can't go wrong either way. A local luthier or guitar shop should be able to tweak the action to stop that string buzz for a small fee. It's very minor though. I would keep the GAD because of the cutaway. I guess it would depend of how heavy it is. I like a light guitar. I do like that extra low end though. I know this is a year after you posted it so you've likely already made a choice.
Yamaha all the way! What a surprise!
Did you keep the gad , ? Should have .....
For me the Seagull had the edge.
I've also been starting to notice, acoustic guitars sound more bright and compressed when they have a painted finish. The Martin sounds more woody, and airy. I think most of the difference that is being noticed is because of the finish. ✌️
The Casien pick sounds less harsh in the high end. 👍
Just a guess from someone who's heard a million guitars. The microphone in your phone or something isn't capturing the magic of the guitar fully. Sounds slightly muted but I bet it's the recording.
Guild sounded much clearer and full!
Beautiful guitar! Sounds incredible. No disrespect to Martin but in my opinion, it’s not worth it to buy a Martin when I can just get this beauty.
Actually, the tops are not thicker! Instead there is a round internal support inside of the sound hole (a feature unique to Eastman to further reinforce the top: ingenious idea!). If you feel inside the sound whole, you can feel the true thickness of the top just beyond that round internal sound hole support.
@myguitardetective5961 Mine bellied bulge behind the bridge with Mediums 13-56 so I sold it ok sounding guitar but apparently only really braced for lights.
@@ryanbloom1738 I’ve had an Eastman E40 D for almost 4 years now. Much better guitar than my Martin D-28 HD: better built, superior woods and far-better sound - best dreadnought I’ve ever played. I’ve NEVER heard of an Eastman top bowing: not once, ever … I’d imagined with a TC top it would be even LESS likely (I hate TC tops…they dry the wood but unfortunately make them more fragile too which isn’t the case with tops aged naturally). Most flatpickers prefer medium gauge strings and Eastman’s scalloped bracing mimics Martins current bracing design. Does Eastman recommend Light gauge strings on their Drednoughts?… they do, of course, on their OM’s…using an abundance of caution, I string mine w/ John Pearse Slightly Lights…
@myguitardetective5961 Mine did but I'm kind of unlucky person.
@@ryanbloom1738 I really enjoyed your video and comments! Thank you!

I had a D-28 many years ago. I had a 280 with Brazilian. I had a D-35, too. They were all great.
It’s rosewood fret board and bridge or so the specifications say
sounds good . Interesting heritage . I love Seagulls .
Cool strings
Sweet licks dude!
@kevinb6904 Thanks buddy.
Take the Yamaha and save some money. They never go wrong.
I have 2 wonderful Yamaha acoustic guitars. The Japanese made FG5 and FS5. Keepers for life. Now I want the LL16D.
Yamaha for me. I have a 1980 L8 that just takes command of the room and drenches the ears with crisp, rich pure musicality that just makes you feel good. I think Yamaha have nailed it with this one.
China Versus USA
This guitar sounds really good.
Thanks😊
Scale length on Eastman o.m.'s is 24.9. So it's basically a 000 for most other builders. Nice and responsive sounding box.
Thanks for that info.
People who own Martins overpaid and are desperately hyping them in an attempt to keep the value up.
You talk toooooo much about insignificant things, and not enough about the important things concerning the eastman.
Do what I want🤪
Killer sounding guitar. Good score!
I have a DV52 from 1996.. All natural Guitar store owner raved about it Said he couldn't keep every great guitar that came in his shop so he offered it to me at $1000. I said Take it.I bought it because I had heard a lot about them. I already own many Guilds and I love them. From every build location. This guitar had Robert Peterson from Jupiter Fla go over it and tweak it up. It sounds richer and fuller than any of my others which includes an Orpheum, D55 , NH D50. I had a stroke that has my left arm useless. It hangs on a wall in front of me. I dream of the day I get to play it again PhilD Woodstock veteran
I hope you recover too 🙏 thanks for writing me. I don't own that one anymore I'm a Eastman lover now mine needed a neck reset and a fret job so I sold it to a luthier friend he did the work and sold it to a guy I know. I'm more about documenting as many guitars as I can video that's my hobbie. To be honest they all come and go except for the Seagull my brother got it for me when I was guitarless so I'll never sell it of course.
I've never played a Yamaha acoustic, and I've owned and played countless, that I thought sounded as good as a Guild or Martin. I play and maintain a d Guild D52-E and it meets or exceeds all of my expectations...as beat up, lots of repairs and patches it has accumulated.
My mahogany back and sides are a helluva lot darker on mine.
It's how the wood takes the stain I suppose.
Blueridge to me sounds just as good as Martin and a whole lot less in price
still have it? I sold my D18...and looking for somethimg new.
I get being casual and loose for a video. But this is like watching water spill over the edge of a counter. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Yeah, pure energy eh?
I think the D52, while not as "bright" seems to have better clarity and stability in the notes. The Guilds remind me of Gibsons..they have a unique tonal quality that I prefer over Martins and Taylors.
I have several Guild acoustics, and what I especially like about them is the balance of the bass & treble, and the 12 inch fretboard radius - which I find much more comfortable than the typical flatter (16") radius you get with most guitars - including Martins.
A lot of it is in the hands.A good player is going to sound good on anything.I own 3 Martins 1 Collings and I own a LL16.Love em all.
I knew this guy was gonna tell the truth!
I want em all!
The Yamaha sounds too bright compared to the D28
The D28 sounds much better. I mean listen to that thing. The Yamaha sounds great too but the D28 just sounds amazing
The 214 sounds significantly better to my ears! (Make sense?)
For mine, too.
Yamaha all day!
Very nice review, I just found a used LL16D in super condition for $800. Can’t beat that guitar especially at that price!
Yes Martin d16 special rosewood from guitar center or Musician friend their 1800 and basically like a hd28. I've never owned one but played one and their great.
Hey Ryan, I've been looking for a dreadnought guitar for less than $2000 and came across your channel. As someone who's played a lot of different brands/models, is there any you would recommend in the price range? Thanks
Good video great guitars ,both of them
Great brief comparison. For the money the Yamaha looks like a winner.
The black Yamaha LL16D sounds very differnt from the Yamaha LL16D natural. according to J. P Cormier. You should've used a LL16D natural, but a great review you've done. Watch his review on the black one. ua-cam.com/video/9AJ68sXCwGU/v-deo.html
Yes it's beautiful guitar please let me know the cost thank you
Good luck with your new baby!
Hi bro, I hope you're okay, I have a question, what gauge of strings do you use on that Seagull?
Nice pickin ryan! Sounds real good from here buddy
Thank you
Have you tried Heavy gauge ?
