This tutorial will walk you how to do 'tr2tog' and '1tr, tr2tog' in granny stitch (US crochet terms terms: 'dc2tog' and '1dc, dc2tog'). I use this as a decrease in the Faraway hat, the Lowrider jumper, and in several patterns in my book.
Double crochet rib
Переглядів 2,5 тис.Рік тому
This tutorial will walk you through working double crochet rib. This is made with double crochet worked in the back loops only - dc blo. (US crochet terms: single crochet worked in the back loop only - sc blo). I use this technique on my Lowrider jumper and in several of the projects in my book. Although this tutorial demonstrates on a cuff, it is the same method around a hem, armhole or neckline.

Working 1dc, 2ch instead of 3ch
Переглядів 1 тис.Рік тому
When working UK trebles (US doubles), 3ch is often used to gain height at the start of a row and count as the first stitch. One of my testers suggested I try 1dc, 2ch instead as it looks a lot neater. (US crochet terms: 1sc, 2ch) I tried it and totally agreed. Now its all I use. Thanks Abi for the tip!

  • @janiebeaumont1531

    I’m finding this quite tricky. My pattern states 18 sts and 8 rows to 10 cm but even changing my hook size I simply cannot get 8 rows to 10 cm - it’s more like 16 rows, even though my stitches are correct. I’ve tried working in a much looser tension but am still getting at least 14 rows to 10cm.

    • @Iron_lamb
      @Iron_lamb 3 місяці тому

      Is it a granny stitch pattern? If so then I guess 18 sts would be 6 granny stitch groups to 10cm and 8 rows. Which means the stitches must be quite tall?? Is it UK treble stitches? (US double crochets)

    Hello dear. I am relatively new to your channel and would like to say that I think your tutorials are very well-explained and very clear. It is evident from some of the comments that there are some viewers who obviously need extra lessons in crochet, and I therefore suggest that they increase their knowledge before submitting complaints about how you present your work! For my part, I can categorically state that if I did not find your channel suitable for my crocheting needs, I would not return as I have done on several occasions. Furthermore, I'm sorry to read that those viewers whose first language is not English feel they are entitled to a translation and/or subtitles. There is a very simple answer to that and I leave it up to the intelligence of the relevant viewer to work it out! But hey, here's a clue! Given the technology that is available to modern society perhaps they should try using a language translation app!? 🤷🙋👍🙏

    Hi there! Thanks for sharing your story, it's great to hear how other's got into crochet before the interweb! 😄 I'm sorry to hear about your carpal tunnel and I hope that you can get some treatment so that you can crochet pain-free. It's such a fun hobby it would be a shame if you had to slow down. Thanks for subscribing to my channel and I hope you find it useful ☺️💗

    Hello dear. I was looking on the web for a raglan pattern and found your channel! I've been crocheting for many years now, over 50 in fact! I began learning in the 7Os. I had been taught by a nurse while I spent time in hospital as a child, and I am forever grateful to that lovely nurse! My poor mother so was busy with me and my 5 brothers there wasn't much time for anything else, Bless her! And when I crocheted my first poncho, I think she was just as proud as I was. One of the best things about crochet is it's rapid growth once begun, and as I've never possessed the virtue of patience (until now), I was so glad my poncho developed quickly. But, like a lot of things in life my new skill got put on the back burner for several years until I picked it up again in the early 80s. Since then I've learnt lots of new patterns and keep some in my head! Also, I find the older type much easier to complete as the stitch references are not so sophisticated. But hey, a stitch is a stitch and there is always something new to learn! Sadly, I'm now very limited to the length of time I can spend on my crochet as I've just been told I have carpal tunnel. And what with other injuries, it hurts! But for me, crochet is like an addiction and sits there calling to me! So. In goes the co-codamol and out comes the hooks and wool! I just love it so much! Well, thanks for reading my comment and very good luck with your channel to which I have now subscribed. 🙋👍😀🙏

    Hi, I'm sorry you don't like my technique, Everyone crochets differently. I dont show the whole row because the row is symmetrical..it's the same at the other end as the part I show in the video. Every row is different for every size, so it would be an extremely long video if I went through every row in every size. I am just showing how the rows start and finish and how the shoulder decrreases work. Hi Jacqui, I'm glad you like the cardigan and I'm so sorry you are struggling with it. Let me just take a minute to explain.. I don't go through the whole pattern in the video, because the Granny Go Round cardigan is a paid written pattern, not a free pattern. Also, as each size is different on each row, it would be a very lengthy video. The purpose of the videos are to clarify only the trickier parts of the written pattern that people may need help with. If you are stuck please drop me an email at ironlambdesigns@gmail.com and I promise I'll get you back on track. I always make sure my customers get support and am happy to draw you a quick diagram if that helps. Kind regards, Claudine
