@@plusfc How is it beautiful? What language is that? As a whole it sounds like shit. I listened to the original, it sounds like shit too. It sounds like something they cobbled together, there's nothing catchy about the song at all. When they assemble these kids and the kids make an effort, give them a song that has the chance to sound good instead of something to put on a multi-cultural hat with. People are way too preoccupied with that nonsense.
@@kevinchurch5934, obviously you have different taste in music than I do. And that's fine. Elton John wrote "The Circle of Life" and I personally don't think it sounds "cobbled together or not catchy". The language is Swahili. The kids had to learn to pronounce the Swahili words correctly. It was fun for them. I am absolutely positive that this song was not chosen to "put on a multi-cultural hat". Palatine High School is very culturally diverse, but unfortunately the choir didn't represent that back when my daughter went there. Whatever style of music you like, I hope you embrace it and let it fill you with joy. This certainly did for those of us who were in the audience and the kids on stage. Peace.
@@plusfc44 I spend time trying to find songs for my mother who is in a nursing home with alzheimer's, it's very frustrating to keep running into this multi-cultural stuff and being unable to find regular music sung by choruses that she can relate to

Cruella is one of my favorite Disney villains. In this sequek she steals dalmatians to make her coat. Her laugh is menacing. Even just looking at her is creepy.

Not a bad idea, plusfc44! Seems to me that they should know this since it was publicized for a long time after the storm. I had the pleasure of meeting Fats and his wife Rosemary many years ago at their home on Caffin Ave. Fats is a very shy and private person, yet Rosemary was extremely personable. Unfortunately, Rosemary died in April 2008. She had been in poor health for quite some time before Katrina. BTW, I like your video of the tour. :)
+Yvette Richard Thanks. It is short, but I hate to delete things. Pretty cool that you got to meet him and his wife! I actually loved the tour, though. I'm a meteorologist and was glued to the tv when Katrina hit. Such a tragic event in our country's history.

The first part of that talk is taken directly from the notes provided in the score, which I myself have used to introduce the piece as well. However, they're not quite accurate. He didn't join the circus band until he was 19, and was already a gifted musician and published composer at that time -- his development did not happen *at* the circus, as is implied by the wording in the score notes. :)
