Have you heard of acassette called dance with the tornados sold after there shows thank you
John Coughlan, like Charlie Watts, is a very underrated drummer--minimalist style, the hardest style to play. I was just watching his technique--simply awesome. A model to modern rock drummers.
Tony Newman voice is still great today. Because I've seen Pinkerton's Assorted Colours recently in Rugby for an Air Ambulance Charity at the Railway Club in Hillmorton. It was sad when Mick passed away RIP 🥀
He used to be a part time lorry driver for a haulage company I worked for I didn't recognise him and he was just an nice guy
Cool interview
Excellent summary! Bring on 2025 !
Amazing Maisie well done 👍 🎉❤😮
Very interesting interview.
What a live album 77 was .nothing comes close
A songwriter of such talent and fluency. He painted pictures we all relate to. That's rare 😃
Fantastic, mate. What an incredible event. You keep the crowd going from start to finish. Awesome 👌🏽 🍋🍋🍋🍋
Brilliant Dave, some of my best memories will be playing Bowlers in front of 5000 people with Courtbetweeners.
One of the best Elvis tributes....Great band backing.Better than Karaoke backing track uou hear in pubs.Big Jim the full show.
Thank goodness Hugh the singer kept playing guitar - so good at it! I put mine down for years at a time too, but I've nowhere near the skill of Hugh!! 🎸
When I approached Hugh after a solo gig, he was very keen to know how England were doing in the Test at that time, an engaging man, quite happy to chat. What a superb interviewer you are Dave Sweetmore.
Influential band,greatly underrated
It would be awesome if they could reform for a one off headlining show at Glastonbury. Most the acts there last year were crap.
I've listened since I was a kid. 4 well talented people who got together and made music that sounds great. 😊
Gene Simmons impersonation.
met Hugh a few times at gigs & always a pleasant & humourous fella
Brilliant Dave.
Well done to all the team and staff who made this happen 🎉🫶🏻🤟🏿📣🤯🙊😨😯😱👍👏🏻🤙🏻💪🏻🫵🏻
Went to the show in Holmfirth it was amazing, stood right in front of Andy and got his guitar pic from him I will cherish it forever 🎤🎶🎸
I wish they would get together one more time before they regret it ,great band
Does he wear a wig?,, ! 😮
I heard a different interview with Andy Scott that the hair is real
@@lorimclean3328 yes, what I heard too, other said he was bald from cancer. Good you are right.
Really !;! From the tongue ! Job to the wig ! Really !;!
He's a loverly guy Andy, even goes to a few open mic nights locally in Wrexham.
❤ Andy 🎸🔥 ❤
I heard on a different interview that the hair is real
Another great interview Dave , I'm a Black Country lad & Slade were the first band I ever saw " Live ". Say hello to Duffy from me too mate..😊
Big jim at the Bulls Head Monday nights, best of times, can't buy memories like that
So refeshing to hear John speak light heartedly but seriously unlike Francis who likes to see himself as some sort of unfunny comedian. Alan was another I've seen and heard in conversation and didn't go off subject and talk in gobbledegook like Fran still does.
You are so beautiful and so lucky that you can be with your crew 😮😮🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m going to be crying 😢 so much right now I’m just so happy 😁 😊😂
Sounding great my great freind
It's great to hear from Dave Hill again. the lead guitarist with the group SLADE. he's a very underrated guitarist. I really like the way he plays the guitar he almost holds the neck straight up. and and he plays tons of vibrato. I play the guitar the same way as Dave Hill. we are both left handed and play the guitar right handed. Dave Hill and Steve Priest from Sweet, were always in competition to see who had the most costumes. and I think Dave Hill just edged out Steve Priest. one things for sure they both had some outrageous costumes. Dave Hill still performing, shows one there's no give up in him at all. KEEP ROCKING!!!!!
All the very best, lads. One Love 🍋
Status Quo PLC (Parfitt, Lancaster, Coghlan) would be superb. Despite being a great musician, Rossi's ego destroyed Quo.
Rossi has alot to answer for but being a control freak he is the cause of Quo's demise after 1975/76
His groove was off the chain. Band didn't have that sound after he left.
I dreamed about meeting Rick and asking where Francis was 20 years ago. Rick said Francis likes to keep to himself and I wouldn't be able to talk to him. That's cool. I've been listening to Quo since 1975 and I love their music. Some people think Francis must have a big head and a huge Ego I think in reality God gave him his talent so he could sing and play just for me. So rock on Francis what else do you have?
Post Frantic Four and the loss of one of the best Rhythm sections in Rock history, Rossi and Parfitt made some very ' ordinary' music. Apart from a couple of reasonably good tracks, "Ain't Complainin'" and "Perfect Remedy" were fairly horrible albums and that's being polite. QUO would never be the one that we loved when they played the 16 min and 42 second LIVE version of "4500 Times" Though they did make some good albums without Alan and John. "Perfect Remedy" is one of the worst albums in recording history. "Don't Stop" is a fairly embarrassing Covers album. Though I did and do enjoy "Riffs" and "FITLCentury" "RTYDrop" is a masterpiece of an album. "Thirsty Work" has some very good tracks on it. "Under The Influence" is musically acceptable in places. It contains a very rare good Country song "Blessed are the Meek" "Party Ain't Over Yet" is enjoyable, yet light weight. "Heavy Traffic" is very good, it is awesome. "ISOT4th Chord" is very good, some very clever, intelligent Rock music. "Quid Pro Quo" is excellent and a thumpin' Rock album. "Bula QUO" has great Rock tracks on it, Ska, Reggae and Jungle music as well. "Backbone" is a mixed bag, some very good tracks, a few that aren't. Though they should've adjusted the Band's name after John and Alan left.
Coghlan is definitely one of the best Rock Drummers of all time. It was a very sad day when he left QUO. Driven out by the egomania of Francis Rossi's desire to control the Band. The 1982 album was very 'ordinary' and Pete Kircher's Drum sound was very 'hollow' and quite horrible. There were only a couple of decent songs on that album and the "Back to Back' album as well. Alan was only hanging on by his finger nails until he couldn't take any more. The horrible and disgusting "Marguerita Time" was the straw that broke the Camel's back and Alan had no choice but to leave the Band. The Judge in the court case made a huge mistake by allowing Rossi and Parfitt to continue using the Band's name. Alan said "It was like having one of your children abducted and abused" Alan told Rossi not to come within arms length of him. Even though Alan was a lovely guy, according to all reports you wouldn't want to get into a fight with him. Parfitt said that Alan was a tough guy that could 'handle himself' Rossi is one of the best Guitarists and Singers in music history, I just have very strong doubts about his character. I wish we could see the 'real' Rossi. He jokes around and avoids the truth in interviews. He calls himself an 'insecure show off' seeking attention of an audience. I think it's all a psychological 'smoke screen' to hide who and what he really is. Rossi is a very clever man, there's no doubt about that. Though he's not one of my favourite people. Ever since I read in an interview where someone labelled Rossi as 'The Anti-QUO', I've adopted it as well. Rossi set about dismantling the best and greatest Rock Band in history. Rossi destroyed our STATUS QUO.
Great seeing him at Minehead; would have loved to have seen Roy Lynes too.
No one can seem to drum like John Coghlan in his Quo days. He has a funny sort of shuffle thing going on, his replacements just don't do it the same way. The original lineup with Roy was great but the Piledriver to Blue we 4:30 re just incredible for the fans. After this they just went off a cliff for me. Edit. Just got to the bit where John is mentioning the shuffle thing. Lol. The other thing that ruined the sound was the change to vox amps.
The drumming in the live version of "mystery song" is jaw dropping
nice bloke..had all albums up to blue for you but miss the 4 so much since they split...what a band.
🎉 well done to you and the rest of the crew ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮😮
I was lucky enough to see Quo 57 times from the very early 70s until the ‘final’ gig at Milton Keynes but the band never sounded quite the same after 82 without John. Pete Kircher and Jeff Rich were good drummers but didn’t quite have the same drive his drum solo’s were legendary. He played a gig in York where I live a few years ago with his own ‘Quo’ band and his enthusiasm has never waned.
Never the same after he went. Same with Alan Lancaster
Bring back Pinkertons!! Amazing!!❤
Mum and Dad loved them! Now I know why! Xx❤
Well done Tommy. You have done bob by . Keep up the good work. Godbless you and your family.❤️❤️❤️❤️xx
Great drummer! Great guy! :)
Another Top Interview!
