Personally, I preferred Gen's version. She was more manipulative, which was I think the only real way to get Sam to play ball. This version was too aggressive and pushy for him to believe her for the long haul. Gen played her less angry and more "human" which was more convincing to me.

I liked Gen as Ruby long before I knew they were together. I don't think this angry version could have convinced Sam to drink demon blood once Dean was back and the deadline for hell was past. Gen was more manipulative, soft and "human" which works because she said that was her motivation.

@MrsJensenAckles98 This is Ruby's first vessel in the show, in the season 3 finale the blond girl that she possesses dies so in season 4 she takes on the new vessel.
