Soil Blocks: A simple approach to starting seeds indoors
Hello Grace! Question: I find that dust is immediately attracted to the light switch covers. I've cleaned my work space, but as soon as I un-package the covers, the dust particles start showing up. By the time I've got the flowers situated, there are more dust specks than I would like. (It's definitely dust, and not flecks of flower pieces.) Then when I start with the glue the dust particles get trapped on my finished product. Any suggestions? Thanks!
beautiful
thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing 😊 perhaps try a tiny bit of museum puddy behind the stem is a solution to the drifting botanicals :)
Hi Grace, this is so lovely though can I ask what glue do you use to attach the flowers to the paper, thanks 🌸
You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you
Beautiful and so helpful. Thank you
Helloo!!! what type of paper do you use for pressing?
Nice! Your sunflowers holder color well. I noticed when I use sunflowers or any other yellow flower, they list color quickly. Do I need to spray them or coat them with anything? I want you something that won't harm the delicate petals. Thank you!
I use a microwave flower press for sunflowers. Some microwave pressed flowers seem to hold their color better with sunflowers being one such flower. I do not treat my pressed flowers with anything..just the natural color. Hope this helps and good luck with your pressing.
Hello
Thankyou for your informative video, how did you get the colour of the deep purple hydrangeas please
That is a very old big leaf hydrangea. I assume the color is in part due to the Ph of the soil.
Lovely 💕
Thank you! Cheers!
❤
This is a good idea I was just thinking where to put my pressed flowers and this one is very helpful, new friend.
Thank you.🥰
Thanks.Would have loved you to have zoomed in on your pressed picture.Maybe the next time .🌺🌺🥰
Nicely explained. I wish I could see them dry. Some of my flowers become darker, some lighter. Well, some of them end up in brown. I am still learning.
I find it is really about trial and error. Good luck. I have good success with microwave flower pressing.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
That is a BEAUTIFUL WREATH!!!
Thank you!
Are you a teacher?
No, I am not a trained teacher just love to share my experience.
Try the 9" microwave one. I saw that it was updated. Maybe, it works better.
Yes, I am using both sizes now. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you. This is one of THE BEST microwave dried flower videos that I have seen! I have just ordered my Microfleur so I think I need that Silk Organza and the other supplies you mentioned.
Thank you. Yes, the silk organza is very helpful.
I bought the same press a couple of years ago and was disappointed. I think using the silk organza pressing cloth will change my results. Thanks for your video.
The silk organza makes a big difference. Good luck!
I just pressed a rose of Sharon 🤞🤞 watching to make sure mold doesn’t show up… 😊 the color is stunning Thanks
Where did you buy the flower press?
I bought online at Amazon.
Do you have a link please? I'm looking to purchase one very soon.@@gracetshanakas8107
Thank you Grace. Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello, I would like to ask you what material is the board made of to place the flowers?
I use cold pressed watercolor paper.
@@gracetshanakas8107 thanks
Thanks .. is this your pressing technique in a flower press or your microwave pressing technique? How long do you keep them in the press? Do u check on them to see how they are doing? 😊
I press 90% of my flowers in the microwave flower press. For purposes of the video I showed laying the flowers in a traditional press. The way I classified the flowers and the way the flowers are laid out, is the same for a microwave press or traditional press. With a tradition press, I leave the flowers in the press for 3 weeks and check them weekly. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Hi … yea I’m happy you have posted again 👍 I’m setting up my storage of my dry flowers with your fabulous technique 👌
Can you show us a sunflower that is pressed and done?
Would you preserve a sunflower in Silica sand?
I have never tried preserving a sunflower in silica sand. If you try, please let me know how it works.
Thank you for another great video! I have done sunflowers this way too and they molded and didn't look very good. I have tried microwaving and they are coming out much better. I hope you do a video on how these sunnies turn out for you. All your flowers are beautiful!
I can't press them this way either. Even if I change the paper every day it gets moldy. I've found the best method for me is to take the petals off. I put the middle in my microwave press until almost dry. I then put it in the paper press to dry the rest of the way. The petals either go in my paper press or my foam press in the dehydrator. Then I glue it all back together again before framing.
Beautiful!
Thank you for talking about pressing Zinnias. Mine do not look good after pressing and I’m thinking they are too old. I use flowers that have been in arrangements and not sold. Will try with fresher ones and see what happens. Can’t wait for your sunflower demo!
Just found your channel and I’m so thankful as I start my pressed flower journey! I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips on the differences between a traditional flower press like the one used here and a microwaveable one
Hi Sarah. I personally use the microwave press more than the traditional press. Some benefits include speed and the color of most flowers remain vivid. The traditional press is great for doing a lot of flowers all at once. With the traditional press you do have to check on the progress of the flowers to ensure that there is no mold. You also may have to change the paper. I did do a video on using the microwave press that you can take a look at.
I was so hoping you would show us how to press sunflowers! I have tried many times and they either mold or just look awful. Since a majority of my garden is sunflowers, I must figure this out. Thank you for all your helpful tips!
I will be launching the sunflower video in a few days. Yes, sunflowers can be difficult to press. The key is finding sunflowers with a minimum center. You can also look to purchase sterile sunflower seeds. These sunflowers do not produce pollen or seeds.
Loved it! More More More!
Hope to see another video where you use these gorgeous flowers! I originally saw the idea where you used the Micro Fleur press and I ordered one and use it. Such a lovely craft preserving nature. Thank you.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! What is the best way to have cards printed? And are most of your cards 5x7 from outside diameters?
I have not printed any of my cards. I use them with the actual pressed flowers. Yes, my cards are 5x7 from the outside dimensions.
I recently discovered your beautiful work and have already learned so much! I have made a few myself and pretty happy with the results. May I ask what formula you use for pricing? I sell cut flowers at a market and know customers will love the framed botanicals. I have no idea how to start with pricing. Thanks!
For pricing I rely upon Etsy. I have a shop where I see my art. I just research what other artists are charging and then factor in the cost of the frame and shipping. Hope that helps.
Looks great. What kind of glue did you use in this video?
I use two types of glue Mod Podge and ADhesive by Lineco. I started wiht Mod Podge and now mostly use ADhesive. Hope that helps.
Love your your circular floating frame particularly and would like to have seen the finished product. I appreciate your clear instructions on all your videos. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Спасибо! Красивая идея!
Four family funerals within a year. Dried flowers for memorabilia art. Set out to be original but quickly became open to suggestions after many fails 😊 Your teachings are so simple! I love when you humbly share what works & what doesnt work "for you" Thanks so much! Look forward to a pressing flower binge with you!
Glad to hear that the videos help!
Where do you find the products that you use.
Oh, that's not easy. I grow and press all my flowers. I use Amazon for purchasing supplies. I shop different frame companies for the frames I use. If there is a specific product you are wondering about, let me know.
You have done a great job explaining! Thanks Susan
How is the colour preservation done Is this done by traditional press
Hi. Thanks for your comment. Pressed flowers are going to naturally fade over time. The leaves fade the quickest. To slow down the fading process for leaves, I paint a thin layer of glue over them. Flowers tend to retain their color longer and therefore I don’t do anything to the flowers.
Me gustaría saber cómo es que no pierden el color.
Thank you for the video!
