I like Woody Shaw playing always RIP
Great song. Do you know of any software that will create sheet music notation from your improvisations? Reverse notation engineering for trumpet?
@@CorkyWicks Thanks. That's a great innovation. Seems possible
Smooth. Awesome job.❤
@@bro.scharkley113 thank you sir
Amén my friend and a Merry Christmas to you! Be blessed and may those bold prayers be answered.

This is one of the best covers I've ever heard.
Is that a C cup mouthpiece sound?
@@da11king Correct. Bach 2½ C
Awesome! Really underrated!
@@mr.hamster2337 Thanks 👍🏿
Do you have the music notes for it?
@djabsession6941 Thanks man. Nothing was writing down. Played it all by ear.
@@jamaalwicksmusic that’s awesome Great Job
Amazing 🤩
I don’t know if this is where it started, but Dizzy and Sandoval played it at the end of Night in Tunisia.
@@davidrichardson2856 That's true. It crossed my mind. That might be the Genesis of that phrase.
I know how difficult that is
@@QuickSlick12 trumpet player?
Nice high notes, you have great tone. I’m a 7th grade trumpet btw. What mouthpiece do you use I use a 5b and on a good day can only get to the c off scale
@chrisstubbs9154 I truly appreciate that Chris. I'm currently on a 2½ Vincent bach. Air is the engine that powers it. Keep working at it. And be careful not to press the horn against your lips too hard. Always give yourself good rest and warm down, too. Trust me.
Thanks for the advice
Awesome! I just started playing trumpet and I’m not even close to that level
@Jaxfire.-fd9zi Thanks Jax. If you can, take private lessons. It'll be a great help in the long run.
Impressive high notes. I play trumpet too, and I wish I could play that high. Keep at it!
@totallyauniquehandle Thanks Xander. You can get there. Keep at it. Consistency and good air support go a lonnnng way.
@@jamaalwicksmusic Thanks!

@@hermansyah-vu2iw thank you
Ty bro
Nice, piercingly smooth sound! What backing track did you use?
@Jim.Marshall Thanks, bro. It's from the Jamey Aebersold collection. He has over 100 volumes of play-a-longs.
Love this❤❤❤❤

@@jamaalwicksmusic Jamal, thank you, I love it. Please know that when I say there following that I mean it in a positive way, truly... I listened & LOVE the atonal trumpet sound and the unexpected piano notes are gorgeous! but the bass and the drum samples are throwing it off kilter a bit? I'm definitely not an aficionado! 😂and all your parts are just beautiful & inspiring, but something with the bass tracks (are there two competing at once?) and the percussion are covering up your good work. I pray that you know I mean this in the best way because you are definitely blessed with great talent.
@@lahaza6515 No worries. Thank you for engaging and encouraging. 🙂
We need more of this in the world

I was 20 and I Saw this show. As i remember, Wynton just finished a Jazz mobile concert at Thompskins square Park with the Art Blakey and the Jazz messagers.. Woody Shaw was observing the show. I spoke briefly with Woody Shaw and he said he had to split because he had a gig to get to at fat Tuesday. I walked with him to his gig and got to see him live when Wynton walked in and asked could he sit in. Woody Shaw didn't actually agree to him sitting in but for Wynton being the New Hired gun on the block Woody agreed. Woody looked like a shark about to eat his next meal. Woody's approach was so different and creative that his performance was not appreciated by young Wynton. In those Days Wynton's attitude was very disrespectful towards the Master's of Trumpet and caused him a lot of turbulence in the industry. I remember the ultimate butt whooping came when they played What is this thing called love.. if you have that recording, you'll hear the Master school the student. Woody Shaw was the one of the last greatest innovators of jazz and trumpet Nuff said
