My 2 grandchildren are 18, just like Crown Prince Christian. They too have just finished their Englishn A levels, similar to the International Baccalaureat, which Prince Christian took. They too have been partying with their friends , going to music festivals, going to Taylor Swift concerts etc. All this is perfectly normal after 2 or 3 years very hard work and little free time. One of my grand children is having a gap year , and the other starts University on 22nd September . Both of them got very high grades , just like Prince Christian. and have qualified for Russel Group Universities ( THe British equivalent of the American Ivy League) For Prince Christian this means Aarhus or Copenhagen , or Oxford or Cambridge ( Princess Elizabeth of Belgium) or University College London( a top college in the Corporate University of London )-- the daughter of the King of the Netherlands The trouble is saying that these clever, wonderful young people are adults, when in reallity adulthood should be 21 like it used to be. Of course they should be able to vote, but should be able to enjoy their gap years and their delightful in-between years at University , before they go on to demanding careers (my grandchildren ) or world leadership ( the Danish and Netherlands 18 yearolds. Leave Prince Christian to enjoy his time of relaxation with his friends ! There is nothing wrong with him Leave him and his parents to make decisions about which University he should go to , like we have just done !
