Welcome to my GC-Extreme UA-cam Channel. Here you will see video on my numerous projects, some How-To videos, and some action videos, ranging from Sea-Doo skis, Motorcycles, and ATVs.
I started my channel back in 2013. I originally used it to show a How-To on doing a motorcycle mod and then didn't really become more active with other stuff until about 2018. I got involved in riding Sea-Doo PWC skis. I then wanted to record some action riding videos to share and slowly added How-To videos and began documenting my numerous restoration projects.
My channel is about positively promoting the sports I enjoy in a fun, safe, entertaining, and informative manner. I hope to one day turn this into a money making business as my video and editing skills improve. My Sea-Doo XP Riders FaceBook page is growing and hope my UA-cam Channel grows as well.
I hope to support and collaborate with others that share the same passions and grow our communities.

Our Wisconsin Dells Honeymoon FULL Slideshow

I got married July 20th, 2024, to my beautiful and amazing woman, Sefa (Josefa), and we finally were able to take our honeymoon in September to the Wisconsin Dells. My parents have a timeshare there and they were also there, so we were able to spend some time and dinners with them, but for the most part it was just me and her. Our first day was mostly packing and driving the almost 6 hour drive...
1996 Sea-Doo GTI 717 $200 Ski Project: Episode 2: Water Testing
Переглядів 139Місяць тому
After all the work on this $200 project ski, we are ready to water test it. Episode 1 was the testing of the engine to see if it was a runner or not, and I also removed the pump. During the spring, I rebuilt the carbs, rebuilt the pump, washed out the hull, installed new oil and gas lines, replaced the carbon seal, removed old graphics and wet sanded and polished the hull, installed new graphic...

I picked up my first GS model project ski!! It is a 1997 GSi 717cc. Scored this ski for a mere $120!!! According to the seller, one of the piston jugs had water in it and it froze during our Minnesota winter and cracked. This is why I simply don't t...

Any suggestions for specific replacement fuel lines? Trying to get tank out right now
@GoodVibesOnly1914 i just use basic carb gas line from Napa or Autozone, you can buy it on amazon too, about $50 for a 25ft roll. You can get the more expensive marine grade line thats got a thicker wall as well. Heres the line on Amazon EVIL ENERGY 1/4 Marine Fuel Line Hose Type A1-15 Rubber 25FT SAE J1527 a.co/d/4ePUwdu
I enjoy your videos, keep the classics 2 strokes going!
Thanks, will do!
Please note, this video was recorded last year before my accident. I forgot about editing and uploading it. This ski is now finished and Episode 2 will be up later with the all done ski for a water test. This was a short project and I didn't record all the work being done as most of it has already been done and recorded on other projects. I don't think you need to see a carb rebuild, pump rebuild, graphic removal and wetsand video for every project. Also this ski is about to be winterized and is up for sale here in Starbuck, Minnesota. Rough estimate of ski costs: $200 ski $150 carb rebuild kit $150 pump rebuild kit parts $130 seat covers $150 seat cover installation $100 in oil/gas lines and clamps and filter. $60 dess post $50 start button $80 exhaust pipe weld up and parts $60 new carbon seal and boots $120 new battery $60 replacement MF gauge I'm probably forgetting some stuff. But thats $1,310 rough estimate before my labor hours. Asking $2,000 without trailer, so I'm not making alot of money.
Cool to see you working on a gs model, sure you already know this but the 717 in the GS hull is largely regarded as under powered (couldn't believe the difference between riding a gsi and gsx), the 717 is great in the smaller X4 1995, 1996spx, but not great in the heavier hull... IMO if your talking GSX it has to be the Ltd 951... That is a true performance machine to this day (mine hits 64 on glass, I weigh 72kg) I did love the tiering though GS, GSI, GSX, GSX LTD. That was cool. Good to see you wearing a mic, so much better viewing experience, great work man.
@classicjetskis yes..but the GS has to be lighter than the GTI hull. My 96 GTI 717cc seems plenty powerful but my 99 GTI with the larger hull and 717 is very underpowered. So im sure the 03 GTI with an even larger hull and 717 is pretty gutless. Got a video of that 03 GTI project coming up.
Thanks for the shoutout and for sharing the sweet video
@@scottwelinski8500 you bet. I got lots more footage to split up into different videos!

*97 GSI gsi was a 1 year only ski and it was 97
@b4ssb0y31 yep. I corrected myself..i was wrong. The seller had it posted as a 96 on Facebook, but yes the HIN and the registration say 97.
Glen thoughts on the 951? Been looking at a newer ski compared to my 97 GTX.
I prefer the carb version, simple and basic, cables instead of electronics and sensors, no electrical fuel pump or air compressor or injectors to all fail. Find any GTX with a 951 carb or a 787 engine, not the 787rfi tho, 787 carb or 951 carb. 951 can be a pain to work on cuz the carbs and starter are under the exhaust but generally you shouldn't have to mess with them that often. Maybe rebuild carbs every 4 to 6 years, and replace starter whenever it fails, rarely. The 787 carbs and starter are alot easier to get at as they arent under the exhaust pipe.
@@GCEXTREMEMN yeah I've enjoyed my 787. So I shouldn't be afraid to look at like a 98 XP or something? Big guy, so I'm afraid that it might be tipsy. Like the stability of the GTX but I think the XP would be more fun
@@SeanPennII try to avoid the 98 XPL. Its a one year wonder for the engine/mpem/pump. Go with a 99+ carb model.
@@GCEXTREMEMN let me know if you're selling them. I'm in Des Moines, so a trip to Minnesota isn't bad for me, hell, I love Minnesota.
@@SeanPennII i dont currently have any 951carb projects in my lineup, I do have a 2001 GTX 951 DI which is suffering from either fuel or air issues, one of the many reasons why i hate dealing with DI engines and prefer carbs. The engine has good compression and will idle fine, but goes into limp mode when you hit the throttle. Its either a Throttle Position Sensor issue, a Fuel Pressure/Pump issue, a fuel injectors issues, an air/fuel regulator issue, or an air compressor issue. Would sell this ski for $1500. Probably at most a $500 fix. Otherwise i have a 97 GTX 787 in my project lineup that needs a topend rebuild for sure.
great video Glen loving the rise in uploads. you should do one on the balance shaft oil top off. Josh saved me on it tonight on the GTX
@@scottwelinski8500 yep i got lots of videos to edit and upload. What happened with the gtx?
What happens to the rivets that you pushed in?
Sorry didnt see this comment. The rivets usually fall into the inside of the hull and get stuck in the styrofoam. Otherwise they make their way into the bottom of the hull and you can use a shopvac to suck them up later.
If you used Hull cleaner it will just melt that stuff right off spray it on with a spray bottle and rinse with water
I just recently bought this same ski. after riding the ski for an hour or so the engine was hot to where you couldnt keep your hand on it for more than a couple seconds. it had water coming out the side circulation hole the hole time i rode it. Do you know if its normal for the engine to be that hot?
I was exhausted in that video not only because we put in such long hours but because I was taking mental notes and trying to learn as much as I could the whole time. When I did get it out on a lake the next day I used some of my newfound knowledge, though it was misapplied at first. I had started it before i left my home but it stopped running quickly. Not wanting to run it out of water I felt that was good enough to confirm it still started. Then when I put it in the water it didn't start. Well it turned over but didn't pop off. I pulled the seat off and checked a wire that is a little iffy. It seemed intact. Then I took the air cover off thinking maybe a little more air would help. It didn't. I then took out the spark plugs to just see if I could tell anything from doing that. I sort of dried them off a little, reinstalled, and no luck. I looked over the troubleshooting section of the owner's manual but it gave no useful advice. Then my son asked me what's that for? pointing to the fuel selector dial. Then I remembered that we shut off the fuel before I left that night (in the video above). I turned the fuel selection to the on position and it ran right away. I probably won't forget to check that again. The craft ran very well after that and it was a great payoff for the long days. Thanks again to GC Extreme for the above and beyond help. I literally couldn't have done it without him. P.S. I want to lean how to make that Philippine style chicken that his family made. Delicious!
If u need a jet ski this your guy.. I bought one just last weekend and he does good work and willing to help :)
Why does everyone forget that the 96 SPX is also an X4 hull...
Mostly because its the 717 engine lol. The 787 x4 hulls are more popular..
question, what does the shaft do? my shaft broke off in the impeller, I made it back to the dock, but it was hard to get the ski going. the impeller was spinning fine, I had to easy out the broken shaft and tap the threads with an 18 x 1.50 tap. I rebuilt the pump last night with new bearing and seals, I am wondering what that shaft controls and why the ski was hard to move even thought the impeller was spinning but that shaft was not spinning.
I bought this one :) .. Great Family..
This one in this video is my personal ski that my wife and daughter rides. You bought the other one I just restored. I really hope you enjoy it for years to come!! Ride safe and have fun!
Looks the same lol… yes have a great time with it
Did you pressure wash inside the engine bay and bilge?
@@tvpierce1 yes i did.
Where did you order floor mats?
Is this similar to the 2000 SeaDoo GTX DI?
@chriswingenfeld6436 not even close. Same hull but this is a 787 carb machine..not a 951 DI. So totally different engines and pumps and electronics
Hey everyone. Part 2 will be coming up shortly. Working on editing that video. If you have any questions, hit me up..
Howdy, doing the same thing but I don't have the driveshaft yet, how long is the GTX shaft?

There’s always time afterwards to go out and ride. Try to enjoy your wedding day, really slow down if you can even though it may be hectic. God bless you and your soon to be wife on your wedding day!
I restored the finish on my 95 XP with that. Worked great. I first removed the oxidation and staining on the hull with bar keepers friend in the powder form and scrubbed it with an ultra fine scotch brite which worked excellent. The oxalic acid in the bar keepers friend works wonders.
You supposed to use a buffer, when I used it with a buffer is does much better job. It will do better then what you posted with doing just by hand.
@ryanjohnson1814 yep i know, but I wanted to show how powerful it was doing it just by hand. Also cant get a buffer inside the pump well.

@@GCEXTREMEMN no problem, and congratulations on the wedding! Try to enjoy your day when it comes.
Hope you're getting back to health now dude, these things can happen, looked like a great day until that point. Great guys around you, props to them. 🙌🙌
Yes. Im still suffering some pain, like twisting and turning and getting out of bed hurts like hell sometimes, and getting up out of chairs after sitting hurts. Ive been out on the skis twice now this summer, climbing back on even with my boarding steps is a pain, but riding itself is ok. And yes everyone was very helpful. Once they got me to the beach my gopro literally died haha. I think it was because professional ski rider Mark Gomez was there to help lol. Later that evening Mark Gomez even helped me walk to the bathroom. My buddy Scott was the one who helped tow me and my ski to shore, he's the one hollering "Glenn!" when Im holding onto the other guys standup ski. The issue is, they all wanted to protect my head, but i kept telling them it was my a-ss that hurt lol as they dragged me and laid me upon the rocky beach shore hahaa. I didn't sleep any that nite in the tent, had a horrible 4 hour drive home i was in so much pain and so tired i almost didnt make it. But i had lots of help packing up my camp gear, tent, and even had guys ride my skis to the ramp and load then up. Everyone was very helpful. I just wished i would have called my parents to xome get me and have my dad drive my rig home and i wish i would've went to the emergency room sooner. My Aflac extra accidental insurance denied my claim cuz i didn't go in until 3 days later on Tuesday to get xrays. But my regular insurance covered alot and my health savings account also helped. I have never ever broken anything before and what luck would i have the first thing i break at age 39 is my butt bone haha.
No need to thank me buddy. This is what we do in this sport. The brotherhood of TCJP is great. Was fun to go riding at your bachelor party. Sortie 2024 coming fast! I wait all year long anxiously for it.
Had a blast man. We gotta plan a trip to that Eagle lake before end of summer man
Just wondering.....why do you need to weld small piece back on. Isnt it all going to be submerged in gas anyway?
Correct..u dont need to do it. I just prefer to do it
I had a 2000 XP for a little while and hated it. Wish I would have gone with the X4 787, but I sold it and got a Honda aquatrax turbo and love it. I also have a 98 Seadoo GS and it’s super fun. Also not exhaust valves and a single carb. Super easy to work on.
Hondas, at least motorcycles and atvs, have always had a reputation for being super reliable, sometimes lacking performance but super reliable. I dont know anything about Honda pwcs, but apparently they weren't doing well so they quit making them.? Kinda like Articat, good 4wheelers, crappy pwcs tho.
I had one years ago.... so much fun when it was running. That was the kicker.... it was a money pit!
Is it bad that the PTO had a little play? Should you be able to move it at all or no?
The PTO must be tight on the shaft and if it and the engine shaft dont move then something is seized.
@@GCEXTREMEMN I’m thinking that the pump is seized because there’s no signs of scoring or anything in the cylinders but I’m not sure because it was sitting for years.
@@GCEXTREMEMNso I’ve worked on my ski some more and I now have the pump off thinking that was seized but it’s not and the engine still won’t spin. It has a little play like it does in this video but I don’t know what’s wrong. I even have the cylinders off.
Is the 97 Seadoo GTX wear ring size 140MM? I have 2 GTX’s and both need wear rings. Figured you might have an answer for me. Thanks!
Yes. If they have the 787 engine. The 951 engines got the 155mm pump
Just bought same ski.
Its a good decent ski, easy to work on, reliable, but not super powerful.
Do you by chance know the OEM denso part number for a 1995 seadoo xp 717 starter motor? I'm tired of the cheap Chinese ones failing every year for me and I want to buy an OEM rebuilt starter to put on.
278001935 You can buy new here. osdparts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_29&products_id=4035 Or buy a good working used oem from ebay. You can also buy a $30 starter rebuild kit and rebuild your oem one. I never throw oem ones away, I rebuild them. But i usually buy good working oem ones off ebay for $30-70. Stay away from the cheap chinese ones, SBT specifically.
On ebay theres several that are listed as good and working. Remember all 717 and 657 use the same starter...the 787 and 951 are different. So theres a wide range of ski models that will work. Most GTI were 717, many GTS and some older SPX. Hope this helps. www.ebay.com/itm/116064930211?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ciEj-xspTl2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=rdSplSM8TVe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

@wilsonandj you bet man. I have a Facebook group called Sea-Doo XP Riders, feel free to join
can you convert a 717 single carb to dual carb setup? and dose it give you more performance? also can you convert a 787 RFI to a 787 carb setup. thanks great info videos by the way.
Yes on the 717 carb swapping, you can go back and forth, u just need the right parts. Youll need the rotary valve and the cover and intake, arrester filter, and choke cable for which ever one youll going with. Basically just pull everything off the dual carb engine. As far as it giving you more performance, i doubt its that noticeable. Single carb is cheaper and easier to rebuild. Single carb rebuild kit is like $70, a dual kit is $140. No i dont believe you can convert a 787 RFI to a carb setup.
@@GCEXTREMEMN thank for the info. if there's no real HP advantage with another carb then deff not doing that. i wonder if the bottom (short block) of a 787 carb and RFI are the same. i can get a RFI cheap that needs a top end anyways. drop it in a gen 2 XP. i rather keep it simple stupid approach when it comes to the electronics
@abhvgas no they arent the same. For instance the exhaust is different, the cases are different because of the timing crank sensor, also the starter is on the opposite side.
