MTB Beech Mountain Bike Park: Day Three
Join Alan and I for the conclusion of our weekend here at Beech Mountain. We run down the black trail albeit cautiously, are envious of the kids hitting the road gap, and wrap up the weekend with some cold adult beverages.
I hope you enjoy the series and get the chance to ride Beech yourself!!

Yeti SB 5.5 Reveal and Build. New Bike Day!
Thanks for posting this ride! I live near Greenville and this would be a ride I’d love to take
What goes up must come down, is the law of gravity.
Good video of Blue Clay. Thanx
Hey Scott can't believe it's been 5 years already! Just now watching this it doesn't seem long ago at all. New subscriber enjoying your videos.
Time just flies!! I have 3 kids now and struggle to find any time to get back on the bike. The kids are getting to the ages where they are wanting to ride so hopefully there will be new videos coming out with them!
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 Awesome! You have a family and that is great! Looking forward to some more videos in the future.
Oh my goodness I’ve been trying to figure out how to get there by kayak!!! Thank you! Did you just go straight from the Trails end launch?
It’s not quite straight across. You have to go to the left (north) through channel. It’s easy at high tide. Low tide becomes a challenge and visibility is low through the grass (and gnats are crazy through there at that time).
Tried to watch but guy wont shut the eff up
Why's he wearing clown pants?
Oh yea I live around here love the park me and my friend are going back sometime soon
Looks like i need to take my bike next time to wilmington.
Looks sick! Going to go there soon. You think the blue trail would be fine on a fully rigid bike?
I was out doing the same thing with a much wider skinny. I’m a total coward, but once i wavered off the side a few times and realized it was no big deal I felt a lot more relaxed and was able to complete it numerous times. Hardest part was a front wheel lift to get up on the obstacle. Not a very big lift but it was enough to scare me . Enjoyed seeing you clean this micro skinny.
The Hulk would be worth your trip. Horry County Bike & Run Park, its amazing.
Flat pedals over clips all day!! You actually have to use technique and form with flat pedals, clips are cheating.
Thanks for going to my park
Scott, looking at a 2021 SB 115 T-2 build, much more compatible for my type of riding than a 160/155 enduro bike like former Instinct BC. SB 115 is kind of a XC/mild trail bike
I was there today but did the paved trail (I am a roadie) but really enjoyed watching this.
Great video, thanks!
I'm glad this is less than 30 minutes away from my house, I'm going today to mtb so wish me luck
Good luck!! Have fun and bring lots of water… it’s hot out there!!
what kind of camera and accessories are you using? nice job
Thanks Lu Brown! This was one of my first videos and I was using a GoPro hero 5 on a chest mount. I edited the video with the basic iMovie app on my iPad. Since then I’ve moved on to the hero 4 with a chest mount gimbal and editing on Final Cut. Now I bounce between that set up and a hero 8 mounted on a full face helmet. I hope that helps!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Scott.
just went here, amazing ride. ran out of water tho 🤷🏻♂️
It’s an easy place to run out of water. There’s more elevation then you would expect to find. Glad you had fun!!
Where did you park and put your kayak in??
Trails End boat launch. It’s very busy on weekends so I suggest a weekday if possible or get there early.
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 Thanks
Thanks for the video! There’s not a lot on the internet about this place. Always good to take a look before driving a couple hours out there
I’m glad the video helped!! There’s a newer video out as well on my channel that may give more insight as well.
I ride that trail all the time I live 10 minutes away from there
Do you use bensound for your music
I do. I also use music from the UA-cam library.
Keyauwee is the tough one for me, a few of those climbs are long and rocky the others a piece of cake GLOVES WOULD BE NICE PROTECTION
Hi Jim! As always... thank you for the comments!
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 Sold my RM instinct BC a few weeks ago, got almost 5 grand for it, might be looking for a higher end XC bike
I might be selling my nearly new SWAGMAN 2 bike rack that plugs into a trailer hitch, i used it for my 1996 Grand Cherokee if u know anyone interested? its a nice HD rack
Hey Scott i was there twice last weekend and it was wet and muddy so actually fun. I think WOODRUN is blue? Regardless it's fun, the one i have trouble with is Kewa. thats MUCH tougher than Woodrun Got the 10-52 XO on my 2019 RM Instinct BC last night, dropped a half pound of weight and the 52 should give me a little extra help, got the black chain and looks HOTT with the carbon crank
Much appreciated bro. I finally got another quality full suspension MTB and will be headed out there on a few days. This was a good refresh on the trail. Time to get back into it
what brand grips are those?
The orange grips are the ESI Extra Chunky. I run them on all my bikes.
During the summer I rode there almost everyday after work. Well, between there and another trail that's closer to my office.
It’s a pretty awesome trail system!! Plenty of variety and fun to go around!!
You are correct. You’re a dork and we are here for it. Fly your flag. Be yourself and go the whole way. I entertain myself the same way saying things like I’m Ace Ventura. It does get old, I’m sure. Your brother is probably a sick bit also someone who has been around your shenanigans for a loooooong time. We be 40 afterall. Thanks for showing me what I’m in for with this rack. Time to build. Very excited to get out next weekend with our 🚲!
Oh and it’s koo at ... according to a video on their website anyway. Rather than koo ought (which is how I said it too)
Thanks for an awesome reply Jo!! You just made my day!!
Clint Gibbs lives in FL and goes there, i go to Morrisville NC once in a while, a few decent features there and small rock gardens
I have never seen a bike packed to the cardboard like that. I have bought things from CC from time to time and never any issues. Thats a nice bike, sometimes CC has some decent sales on things and leftovers.
It was a new “old stock” bike so it was 35% off... I had to jump all over it . I’ve now had it for a year and a half and love it as much as the day I bought it.
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 Great deal, you probably saved a few grand. I bought my 2019 Instinct BC in January 2020 as a leftover, list was $6100.00 and i paid 3700.00 including shipping from a shop in Idaho, it was on Pinkbike. Even if the manufacturer changes something from one year to the next it might not even be noticeable to an average rider and sometimes its personal taste but the 35% you saved was real and noticeable, they can only change the angles/geometry so much before taking away from something else, if it climbs a bit better then probably a sacrifice elsewhere
@@zxtenn that’s right. I got it for $4700 marked down from $7200. It was a steal in my mind.
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 WOW, yes thats a great deal! With those savings you could add nice upgrades if you wanted to like those new carbon wheels, i put 2019 Mavic XA carbon on mine, they are category 3 not 4 but SOLID trail wheels, got for about 850.00 on PinkBike so i couldnt resist and sold stock wheels unused for 200.00, 850.00 a steal for carbon wheels and they have the new Mavic 40 tooth hub, fine for my type of riding. I have a 2021 XO groupset coming, 10-52 with the black chain, stock GX chain still at 25% stretch so still almost like new
I was at Uwharrie yesterday and rode Woodrun for the 1st time, shorter than Supertree but seems more technical, planned on staying there overnight but the rain put a dampener on that
I respect your fight and attitude. Uwharrie is a lot of fun and it gives me a good honest gauge of my fitness level.
Was there Thursday and yesterday riding Supertree, great fun. So many leaves in some areas now kind of hard to follow the trail. Its a good workout and my legs a bit sore this morning, even the drive down 109 is scenic. I am 1 hour from there and take my Jeep to the trailhead by the restrooms, yesterday parts of the trail were wet and mucky from the rain but makes it more outdoorsy and maybe more of a challenge
This is not Rocky RIdge.
WOW, your buddy has some serious bruising, i hope everything is ok internally?
jim dandy he’s fine. Just a bunch of bruising and swelling.
Sickkk
roots rocks and beers!!
copperhanesart Hanes!!! Thanks for checking out the channel! Roots rocks and beers it’s what it’s all about!! Oh!! And Mr. Zeek’s Life 🥰
That's a super fun trail system. Upper Copperhead is just the right amount of challenge.
GreenRiverRider thanks for the comment!! You’re right about Upper Copper. I’m excited to go back now that I have a good working knowledge of all the trails.
Awesome video!!!!!
MTB World thank you!!!
Is that a rent a bike? Obviously not the Yeti, judging by cassette size looks like downhill
jim dandy that’s my downhill bike. I built it up over the summer. You like it??
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 It certainly has its advantages in riding such areas and i commend you for riding there as well as being fearless, that's more than i can say to be honest. I take Plavix and need to keep bumps, bruises, etc. to a minimum , in 2002 i had open heart surgery, a 4X bypass and lucky to be alive no less riding mountain bikes now at age 65 but yes its great cardio/conditioning and fun so i try to walk the line between fun within my skill range and being safe as possible. Thats why i went down JB twice, to better my technical skills on the bigger roots, etc. and then the rocky ending. I will be back at Dupont in a month or two for a long weekend. Uwharrie is a great place to ride and only 1 hour from me, definitely worth the trip
Allen's poor fall!! Is it time for us to all go back yet?
Reid Bull I’m ready!!! I’m actually up in Pisgah all this week 😃😃
What day of the week did you go?? It’s so empty. I went one Saturday last week.. it was packed!! Parking was at near capacity
MLO VISUAL We were there Thurs, Fri and Saturday back in August. It was empty on the weekdays.
Man Good riding Scott you was hitting some good line there. Dude that Blue trails look like a Black to me. Man hope your boys ok. He hesitated a bit. He should have just let go of them breaks. Anyway good riding bro. I have to visit that park.
Alan survived that crash. It could've been a lot worse!! That happened on the third or fourth run of the first day but he rallied and rode the rest of the day and weekend. That bruise is telling though and he's still feeling it now LOL. You definitely have to check that place out and stay tuned... day two releases tonight and day three releases next Tuesday. Hope to see you on the trails again soon!!
Dude is lucky hell of a fall.
Chris Waller He barely dodged that tree worth his head and shoulder. He’s super lucky.
I just got home from 4 days at Dupont, climbing Jim Branch rocky section was really mainly a walker for me but once i got beyond the rocks only a few tough spots for me. I came down JB 2X, Once on top i did plenty of exploring on other trails and roads, i took JB down instead of Ridgeline to better my tech. skills on rough terrain, i can handle the incline if it wasnt so rocky but right now kind of scary, regardless i had fun Was your buddy ok?
Sounds like a great time!! I’ve never descended Jim Branch and I’ve yet to clean the climb of that rocky section. I may have to give it another go soon 😃
@@outdooradventureswithscott4160 Yes it was a great time, stayed at a Red Roof inn in Hendersonville, only 30 mins from the parking lot. Descending is fun and i can improve my tech. riding but even descending you need to be careful, not looking for OTB. That climb isnt a joke that's for sure, i feel better now that you told me you haven't completed it either, i saw plenty of people hiking it not only myself, some people just avoid it period.
Bro that trail was Super Dope we took all the switch backs going up . I wiped out nasty going down super fast. Thank God I had my full face on that Day.
Victor Rosario super fun!!! The switchbacks are unavoidable and torture!! I left them out because they were no fun to ride and even less fun to watch 🤣🤣
Nice scenery and at least that time of year its not 95++ degrees, lots of riders do plenty of 'hike a bike' there
jim dandy it is always a fun and challenging loop. There are still a few features on that loop that I have yet to attempt but I’m getting closer 🤣
Nice job, passing people here and there gives some confidence. I see your not scared of going down after that Urgent Care visit a while ago and dont edit out any falls so you're honest and its part of riding at a higher speed. I see you're a fan of those new tires with the different color sidewalls
jim dandy there is no fear in my game. I crash all the time LOL. I’m a little disappointed at the video quality at the top; I didn’t realize there was moisture in the lens.
