I've never bought an instructional, but i think I might invest in Power Ride after watching this! I had no idea what it would actually cover (thanks for breaking it down!), but I'm surprised to see a few things like the leg shelf and the Dagastani handcuff that I've already implemented into my game after seeing fighters like Khabib used them in MMA.

Not sure why this was given a special name. Power Ride. Nothing new here and everything mentioned here is basic folkstyle wrestling a high school or college wrestler already knows. Also, you stated people may not have been exposed to wrestling Wrestling has been around thousands of years and one of the original Olympic sports. People have had plenty of time to know about wrestling. Just someone repackaging something old with a new name and people are amazed for some reason.

Here a 42yo white belt, after one year of trainning.... I can confirm that power ride its amazing and really changed my game (even my life). I suck at many things, and specially at jiujitsu. Icouldnt pass not even once by pure chance guard of a16yo and 20kilos lighter than me bluebelt. I will always remember last sunday when I spent around 30minutes just watching episode 2 and 3 of power ride at 2x speed right before an open mat. The results were incredible, for the first time I felt pinning people and finishing some others... Actually I am just looking away to donate some money to Craig Jones cos I got the instructional videos from an ..."alternative source" :\

...The Figure Four Ride is very old. It's what Catch Wrestlers use when they want to set up a Banana Split or initial bow and Arrows, toe holds and even just cut the bridging power of another wrestler out so he can't escape an attack to the far-side arm like a V-Armlock or Double Wrist lock... They should see the Ball and Chain.

I used a lot of this stuff when I briefly trained BJJ about a decade ago. The school had never trained against some of this before and had to completely adapt. The teacher would run the next day with new drills that showed people the counters and escapes. It was a pretty strict GJJ school. I made good use of cradles too for passing and for when people would invert guard on me. I got in trouble for trying leg locks and different cranks I picked up from reading old wrestling manuals. Man how the sport has changed.

Wrestling based controls when applied correctly are OP. Surprisingly a lot of wrestlers just don’t have the ability to apply these controls/positions without getting themselves in trouble and most bjj guys are too eager to advance position and by pass these positions that tire opponents out. My whole top game is built around this.

Ive watched this video maybe 5-8 times just understanding some of the concepts, so surprising how well it works right off the rip (the simplest of concepts one by one with arm and leg controls) may be the first actual instructional I try to see. Love how well put together this content is, I do feel this is the future for jujitsu.

I love Craig's Power ride series. But the Dagestan handcuff reference always makes me cringe. How does Dagestan get credit to the most basic form of wrist rides found at the elementary level of wrestling?

Because they have freestyle wrestling, not Folkstyle. And considering their repertoire of Judo which US wrestlers have not utilized, it's miniscule.

I thought the connection to Gordon Ryan was spot on. A common criticism is you don't see Craig use Power Ride that much as a bottom player but I definitely noticed Gordon Ryan (and Nicky Rod) use it all the time. I also have of Gordon's instructionals and he clearly knows the concepts as well.
