Vice Versa 3 This one based on a short composition by my mentor Pt Shankar Ghosh. On this exquisite combination of Groove and rhythmic intricacy, while I'm swapping the role of voice and tabla, here I have modified the pattern of the original Theka (Cyclic pattern) of Teental (16 beats) to enhance the Rhythmic counterpoint with the compostion.

Vice Versa 2 Here is another piece based on the concept of voice and tabla juxtaposing cyclic pattern with compositional phrases and "vice versa". While a previous video rendered a traditional theme with variations, here the material is a short and a long fixed composition both from fast Teental (16 beats) repertoire.

« Beat & Debate » Bells keep the beat moderating a zealous debate between each drums of the Tabla. Here only using the basic syllables/stroke Na, Tin, Ghe, Kat on a 8 (or 16 beats) rhythmic cycle.

« Vice Versa » I don't do what I say but I do mean what I play 😉 Here swapping and juxtaposing a Teental Theka (16 beats fixed sequence) with a traditional Kaida-Palte-Tihai (theme-variation-conclusion) on every new cycle.

I wanna hear just the sound of the drums tuned at different pitches. Without the sound of the loud mouth which over shadows the harmony creates by the drums
It's loud because that's the focus. He's presenting very interesting and complex rhythms with his mouth over the steady drums. Imagine a drummer doing those rhythms with his hi hats. It's amazing.

the sticks are used to adjust the tension on the skin thus the tuning
