In your recoommendations of managing pests like FAW, have you considered using a total biological and environmental friendly push-pull strategy of maize intercropped with Desmodium and some grasses (e.g. Napier grass)? Insecticides will probably be around for many years to come, but never forget the negative impact on the environment, as most insecticides cannot distinguish between the good and the bad guys. Sometimes we lose far more than meets the eye, should our minds remain fixed on insecticides. Isn’t it time simple cultural practices such as push-pull crop strategies are being added to the spectrum of strategies we deploy to manage pests (like FAW) too?

Gracias por tan valiosa informacion, pero desde mi punto de vista a parte de estas recomendaciones, se tiene que capacitar a todo aquel que aplique insecticidas, como implementar el MIP, y se convenga a la reduccion de plaguicidas sinteticos y se pondere el uso de insecticidas de origen natural y la demas practicas del MIP. Saludos
