Oh yeah lol I made sure to check all around the car when buying it and there’s barely any rust on it thankfully, but yeah it was definitely on the cheap side but that’s because I got lucky lol

@ I think the differences between NC and NB are much less than people online say and are both pretty similar prices now

I bought the NB because it was what I could afford at the time and I was too impatient to save longer for the NC 😂 My NB as said in the video costed me just £1,650 for a car with only 67k miles… not a bad deal 👌🏼 And on the rust I shall make a video on that for you to come out next week! As I think it’ll be worth making a video for 👍

@@JamesAutoMotiveTV It's not a daily. I work from home most days and any daily drudge is handled by a 2000 Nissan Pulsar, which I love for it's reliability. I give the MX-5 a blast during the day when I feel in the mood and it's not blistering hot. Night drives are great this time of year and the pop ups are always fun.

@@JamesAutoMotiveTV I remember driving top down through snow at night on my way home from work in the UK after a stressful day. Heater on full, tunes pumping. Completely missed the ambulance behind with the blues and twos on. Oooops, I was completely absorbed in the drive. MX-5s have that effect on me.

Well the ones Ive got aren’t too bad as they’re leather, soon I’ll be upgrading to Alcantara/leather seats which will add a luxury feel to it. Do you find the seats uncomfortable?

Well the good thing about the MX-5 is that it's easy to work on when you need too, there's also plenty of tutorials on UA-cam for things too! I would definitely recommend as it's a fun car to drive and enjoy. But because it's easy to work on it also makes it easier to understand basic mechanics, which I'm still learning! Hope this helps! 😃

Oh awesome! Yeah you can take it to a hand wash, but just make sure they don’t use any dry towels as they may not clean them which could have something that could scratch your paint. But yeah definitely check your paint work before going and if you have lacquer peal then don’t go to a pressure wash place as they may not be careful and it could rip the lacquer off and make it worse. Hope this helps and of course enjoy your MX-5! 😄

Yeah I think I got very very lucky! There are some things I need to do to the car but I’ll get on that when I can find the parts 😅 but yeah rust is actually not much right now, hopefully it doesn’t get bad lol

Oh yeah aha I was looking for a 2L NC before I bought this but I came accross the NB I now own and haven't looked back since as it was so much cheaper and the one I have is a 1.8L VVT so not far off the power of an NC, Thank you so much for the subscription really appricate the help :) But yeah UK cars are cheapish... depending on the car you're looking for lol, but yeah definitely keep looking and don't rush into buying a car that you may not enjoy as much :D

@@JamesAutoMotiveTV Absolutely not rushing, I'm super picky which is why I'm having trouble finding one haha. Which green is that by the way? It's a bit hard to tell on camera/with the winter dirt. I'm not super big on greens, but I have to admit Grace Green Mica (Code 18J) has really grown on me. I also really like Supreme Blue (22A) and Garnet Red (25F). I'm trying to find one in these colours.

So mine I believe is British racing green, at first I hated it but I’m planning on maybe trying to wrap my car this year in a bright blue… yeah we’ll see how that goes 😅

Thank you so much! I use the DJI Action 4 with a head mount, it doesn’t obstruct the view as it’s on your forehead. You have to sort of slouch a bit so the camera is lower otherwise you won’t see much out of the windscreen. Hope this helps 😄

@@KingKhan20000 I would suggest keeping an eye out on Facebook Market place and look for groups on Facebook that are selling and just MX5 groups. That's what I did and luckily I found the one I have now, I would also recommend looking on eBay as well as one may pop up there too! Hope this helps!

Ahh yes that’s why I’ve decided to delay the wheels until the weather gets better, e.g. May-June time. And yes I’ve been meaning to do the rust protection I’ve just got to find someone with a lift so I can do it easier, and well inspect everything properly underneath lol but should be ok 😅 And yes thank you I’m very excited for this project and got a lot of videos planned 😄 Glad you enjoy MX-5s too! 👌🏼

@@JamesAutoMotiveTV Nice! I went there in about may too to do an offroad experience in a g-wagon, which was pretty cool! Also went in 2023 when goodwood was called off due to weather and watched the skid circle along with seeing some classic, f1 and prototype mercedes

Yeah that's all valid, My plans will be specified in a video coming out next week... The thing is I really want a BMW 2 Series but the problem is their like 16k upwards which is way out of my budget and will take about 3 years to save that money up, which I'm also saving up to move out so that'll set me back a lot as well... So i'm not really sure what to do right now but I see this car as a way for me to make content on this channel so money is not going to waste! If this car rots out to be nothing then I'll take the stuff I put on it off and sell it all seperately which will get most of my money back as I only paid £1,650 for this MX-5 which is amazing for the quaility it's in. But only the future will show me what will happen lol, I have big plans for this channel and a lot planned for next year... But also why would I go with a mk3 MR2 or an NC when they'll still rust because they're still jap cars lol

@@JamesAutoMotiveTV Nah I completely get you mate, in a similar boat myself having just moved out. Pockets are a little lighter than before 😂. I think mk3 MR2s and NC mx-5s rust in slightly less catastrophic ways. On the note of the 2 series, I'm not an expert and not sure what generation you want, but I saw a few M235is for around the £10k mark when I was looking with my mate the other day.

I wanted a bmw e30 316 but they are tot expensive or a Mercedes 190 to big so I'm going for the mazda mx5 I think

@@Lofichillcitybeats Yeah those will be more expensive on both maintenance and depending on your age insurance might be more of an issue with German cars

Absolutely! My personal NB is (eventually, once I get one) going to have those chunky 5 spoke factory MX5 rims polished to a mirror finish on 20-25mm spacers, will set the exhaust off real nice

I think they’re great first cars to learn to drive in but it wouldn’t be one for the long run in terms of doing anything interesting with it. But definitely a good car, they also rust like every Mazda lol and thank you glad you enjoyed it 😄

Yeah that’s understandable to be fair, it’s a big shame that ULEZ exists because it ruins those who love the old cars. But I’m lucky that I don’t have to drive into London or around it, but yeah an Audi A2 is a great choice! Have you thought about adding any performance cars?

Insurance on anything with actual performance is prohibitively expensive, I looked at Fiesta ST150s, Polo GTIs, CRZs, all sorts of stuff, but the fastest car I could get with a quote I was willing to pay was an A2. No mods planned for it as it's actually already almost the perfect daily, I would like to get a set of the 16" six spoke wheels for it cos it's on the base model 15" ones atm, and I'd like to get it mapped cos the initial response on the accelerator is terrible and just make the whole work as well as it can bc it's really a great car as it sits.

That’s a good question, I’m not actually sure. But I would imagine that it would make a good difference

I ran my lowered NB for three years on winter tires (unstudded) in New England. It's not going to be a Subaru in heavy snow, but once the plows come through, the roads only have a thin layer of snow. I was easily going around stuck RV4s and CRVs. An LSD will prevent torque steer on snow. If your roads are salted, I highly recommend using "Fluid Film" or something similar to prevent rust underneath.
