JUNXING TBOW H8 Recurve Bow Riser - unboxing & first look and thoughts
After watching two clips about this riser, I wanted to know more and done some information gathering for a few weeks about this riser. Got drunk one night and couldn't restrain my curiosity and ordered it. Here is unboxing video and my first thoughts/observations about this riser.

(Warning SPOILERS) My thoughts about this riser: a budget formula limb fitting riser doesn't make sense to start with. Second hand limbs are few and new limbs are expensive. The riser has some flaws and support for it is practically non-existent. You are better off buying a budget ILF riser from pro-shop, than you can feel the grip and judge it before buying and have better support from shop keeper and manufacturer. I believe that even buying from a good webshop would be better.
About support: If someone finds link to complete (English) manual of this riser please post in comments!
When commenting please be kind, respectful and supportive to others. This is my first video at length, hope you like it.
PS: In manual maximum limb bolt out is 5 turns! This is different than the original Hoyt Formula X.

    This actually just happened to me today on my 34 pound set of Hoyt Formula Integras. It was only my third time using these limbs and on my first arrow the bottom limb snapped back maybe 6 inches from the bottom.

    As long as you check the limb bolts and sleeve that they are the right size and stay tight there’s no issue. I agree that formula limbs is stupid starter recurve but you have to admit the bow looks great just like the Hoyt. I’d pick the white as well 👍

    Just goes to show the quality of bs Hoytt is putting out now aday but it also shows when they are putting out 300 dollar bows for over 1000 bucks Hoytt is the Gucci or LV, Apple tech of the archery world I would honestly trust sinoart or Ragim over them at this point the only good quality bows Hoytt still does are compound the one Joe Rogan has is pretty sick just keep in mind it's well over 3 grand 😅

    There's an edit mid-video that makes it a little hard to figure out what happened. I hear the announcer saying something about a time limit. Was the archer able to switch to his other bow and continue or was there some kind of time consideration?

      That edit isn't mine. Shave because I would love to show more what happened. I've seen a fair bit of limb breakage and a lot never get to see one. Yes, there is a time consideration, from top of my head 45 seconds but might be wrong.

    What brand of bow and limbs would you recommend? I'm returning to archery (as I will join my university team and will most likely join local competitions) after a hiatus of 6 years and idk anything about which bow brands and limbs are good. Add that to the fact that my financial status isnt that good to just buy a new bow every year or so. Basically i want a brand that would hold off with me for at least 3 to 4 years, shooting 5 or 6 days a week for about 2 hours per day. As my university team is quiet strict with attendance.

    • @usernameONBEKEND
      @usernameONBEKEND Рік тому

      Getting back in the game, good! I would start with lighter pair and increase shot volume before moving on to more draw weight. Maybe borrow an old lighter pair of your team mate to cut cost. Only look at ILF, Formula system is very costly and is limited on second hand market. If you stay away from the extremely cheap stuff there really aren't bad limbs that won't last 3 to 4 years. WNS, Krossen, Sanlida, Epic, Samick have a good starting lineup. I've heard good things about Sanlida and Krossen but haven't shot them. If you need range(poundage) but have difficulty with getting it: Uukha. Uukha draw very different, they feel as they have let-off. Bit on pricy side thou. Top performance limbs I like that don't break the bank are Win&Win (or copy of them). My favorite are WNS FC-100 (rebrand of W&W RCX-100) closely followed by W&W Winex. There is a reason why Winex has been on the market this long and as a bonus: Clearance Sale on now (2015 graphics).

      @@ezrampage5269 A Riser is very personal. You can fall in love with one model of a brand and hate other model of the same brand. Me personally, in general, I like Hoyt (I shoot mixed brands). Tip: Get wood grip or polish the plastic grip smooth. Line on plastic grip of Hoyt are bad and can hurt when you shoot a lot. Never 'connected' with any W&W/Wiawis of their risers, except for RCX-100 riser(now WNS FC-100). I should give W&W a new try, has been a long time. For Hoyt I mainly like risers with tec bar (Axis, Aerotec, Helix, Eclipse, Ion-X) with GMX & Nexus being the exception. Loved the Aerotec, years after I sold it I bought one again when i came across a good second hand one. Really dislike HPX, I shot high scores but was uncomfortable. HPX felt 'frantic' and 'on edge' making me tired quickly. Stick to 'Earl Hoyt' original geo. Spigarelli Aladin (rare) shoots very nice BUT support from Spig has been very bad when something broke and was forced to machine solution myself to be able to use it. Fiberbow bit of oddball, very light and had to changed my shooting style to fit the riser. Excellent support, nice guys. Shot pretty good but I was more comfortable with heavier riser. *All riser mentioned I have shot myself for longer period of time.

      @@usernameONBEKEND thank you for the detailed reply. Getting into archery with the ton of brands/models available on the market is a bit confusing, thanks for narrowing down the list for me. I will most likely buy a 2nd hand bow so I guess I'll have a chance to try it before buying it.

    • @mackemforever
      @mackemforever Рік тому

      Compound bow failures are far scarier. It's very difficult to find footage of a compound bow failing that isn't as a result of a dry fire, because it's very rare, but I did find one on youtube: ua-cam.com/video/PdBE6Gu8Rfs/v-deo.html There's a lot more energy stored in a compound than a recurve. An olympic recurve is going to have an arrow speed of approximately 220 feet per second, and for an archer with a 28 inch draw length (as an example), the bow will accelerate the arrow over about 24 inches. A modern compound bow is going to have an arrow speed of approximately 330 feet per second, and an archer with the same 28 inch draw length would have about 21 inches of acceleration. So to get an arrow moving so much faster with less distance to accelerate it, the bow has to be holding a much, much greater amount of energy.
