At 00:10 Quian Tian tells her best friend that while at hospital with grandma asleep in bed "We were chatting when I fell asleep. The second day when I woke up grandma was looking at us." Best friend asks "Us? You mean Yu Hao?" Quian unwittingly tells her best friend that she spent the night at the hospital with Yu Hao.

At 38:11 Yu Hao and Quian Tian have fallen asleep by grandmother's bedside worrying about her. Technically this is the second time Yu and Quian slept next to each other. The first time was when Yu passed out (drinking) in Quian's bed. She put her head down the kitchen table and fell asleep. Yu wakes up and sits nearby resting his head on the table until he also fell asleep. So the two have slept near each other twice, but it isn't what people think.

At 20:48 Gao complains to Yu Hao that Meng spent much of her youth in love with Yu. Recall that Yu's sister likewise spent much of her youth in love with Gao. So what right does Gao have to expect Yu to only be with Meng when he himself doesn't want to be with Yu's sister? The more I watch this series the more I see the flaws in the Gao character. That Gao isn't as perfect a character as he is being made out to be: being Quian's hero.

At around 18:44 Quian Tian's best friend had complained about Quian going with single fatherless man Yu Hao to Choumang Island. Yet the best friend was totally for Quian to go with Gao who is also single and fatherless. Quian's best friend then tells Quian to control her emotions and not um do it (have sex) with Yu. Then the best friend says wait for Gao to come. If you ask me its Gao who desires to sleep with Quian Tian. He even said to her lets go swimming there is a very romantic pool nearby. Gao clearly wants to see Quian part naked in a swimsuit. While Yu Hao and Quian when thrown together at her place only touch each others noses thinking the face looks cute but they never even think of having sex with each other. Yu's mother says to someone that she knows her son and he is a gentleman. The closest Quian and Yu had was to enjoy holding hands and then they each kissed the other.

At around 10:15 Meng says to Yu Hao "Didn't I tell you that you have to give all your time after work to me? " Talk about being bossy and possessive. Meng can be not nice perhaps because she is jealous of Quian Tian being with Yu Hao. They are mainly together because of work.

At 0:020 to 01:15 Meng sees Quian and Yu exchange keys and Quian saying "lets not talk about what happened last night. You do it again and I'll call the police". Yu says "then why did you make porridge for me this morning and cover me with a blanket last night" (Yu passed out on top of her bed) and Quian then went to the kitchen and put her head down and fell asleep. They were not on the bed together. Yu eventually wakes up sees her asleep with her head down on the kitchen table. Yu touches her nose cuz he thinks she is cute, puts his head down on kitchen table in chair nearby and smiles before falling asleep. Technically they both fell sleep with each each other nearby. Yeah they did sleep sorta together only it was all innocent. As Yu's mother said Yu Hao is a gentleman.

So the will won't be disclosed until after the grandma passes away. In the meantime Yu Hao applied to work and told his grandmother around 23:12 that he wanted to do the kind of work his father did before the grandmother established the food business. So Yu Hao will be a new employee working for the main office (corporate) ref 37:56. The grandmother said "I initially wanted to find you a shrewd wife (would have been Quian Tian) to help you take care of the company, but I don't think that's necessary anymore." Yu Hao's mother will continue running the household and his sister decides to take a class to learn computers.

At 30:09 Yu Hao trying to teach Quian Tian's brother to tell men trying to ask Quian Tian on a date that he has a brother-in-law implying that Quian Tian is married.

At 21:37 Meng denies having the data Yu asked for. Yu noticed that the finances of the company went down all the sudden and asked Meng to investigate this. After investigating the computer data Meng finds out that Gao stole (embezzled) the money to buy more stock in the company giving him the possibility of trying to overthrow the President. Had Meng given the data Yu had asked for the 2nd store's staff could have stopped Gao from trying to over throw the President by having that money returned.

At 13:04 Gao is upset when Quian tells him she has fallen in love with Yu Hao. When you look back there was no chemistry or even a romantic spark Quian had over Gao. She considered him like her best friend and a brother at most. If you don't feel an attraction for a guy yet the guy tells you he loves you that will make you feel very awkward.

At 9:46 Meng says to Yu "now you are saying you no longer love me.". I remember through this series Yu never said to Meng that he loved her. He always treated her as a friend and little sister to protect. Even Quian asked Meng did Yu ever say you are his girlfriend? Meng couldn't answer because he never said that. The tabloid news said something like that, but not him.

At 36:02 He tells his grandmother that "he caused dad to die. Hit me, hit me." At this point all the worry, pain, and lack of sleep has finally caught up with him and he cracked.

At 20:03 Quian tells Yu why she can't stay working for the business. Ending with I wouldn't dare set foot at this place (She is leaving him).. Thus breaking Yu's heart.

Pay close attention to 26:35 Meng's mother telling Meng to give up on Lu Yu Hao. She says the grandmother is trying to fix Quian Tian with Lu Yu Hao. That the grandmother does not see you (Meng) as a future grand-daughter-in-law. Meng thought differently when the grandmother sent her to be at Choumang Island with Quian Tian and Lu Yu Hao: meaning the grandmother trusted her to be with Lu Yu Hao. That was wrong. As you know the grandmother was definitely hoping Lu and Quian will fall in love. She even told Yu later that she had hoped to provide him a shrewd wife to head her businesses. Meaning she did plan Quian to be with Yu not Meng.

At 13:53 Gao tells Quian Tian "that she shouldn't continue with the grandmothers restuarant (also means being with Lu Yu Hao). When you try to get things done you lack that little bit of strength to finish it. Compared to Meng who would do anything to get Lu Yu Hao even sacrifice her life. This is why I believe you will definitely choose the correct path for yourself (work for him and be his)." (Gao is a pig for saying this: my opinion on the character).

At 8:31 Gao says to Meng when they can't find the two (Lu Yu Hao and Quian Tian) are you afraid Quian Tian would say something to Lu Yu Hao. At first I though that something was the truth about what Meng mother did to Quian Tian. Thinking again I realized it could also mean that Quian Tian might confess her love for Lu Yu Hao. What actually happened was Lu Yu Hao told Quian Tian that he didn't want her working with Gao in the near future (Gao told everyone that he was expecting her to leave after 2 months and come to Chaumang to work for him. He was clearly trying to stake his territory). This forced Lu Yu Hao to say to Quian Tian when the two left the hotel I know you like me and I want you to be with me.

The more I watch the series I realize this Gao person isn't the perfect prince he suppose to be portraying. For one he did all those favors for Quian Ting in return for him to expect her to be his girlfriend. He even said to her you know I dont see you as a sister even tho that is what he said to her to get her to go to his place to cook for him. Recall he told her not long after meeting and helping her that he wanted her to agree to be his girlfriend. When she said she couldn't at this time while her brother is still missing then he expected her to save a place in her heart for him: expects her to commit to him. Also at around 17:10 he wants her to accompany him to Choumau Island because he has obviously has designs for her. Even at one point asking her to go for a swim with him because he wanted to look at her in a swimsuit. Compared to Lu Yu Hao who wouldn't take advantage of Quian Tin even though he had passed out at her home to wake up later to see her asleep. Likewise Quian Tian didn't take advantage of Lu Yu Hao when he was passed out on her bed. Instead these two just played with each others noses (very cute).

Likewise Meng has designs on Lu Hao. At 25:40 when she finds out the President wants her to go to Choumang Islands to help deliver the updated proposal to Quian Tin and Lu Yu Hao. When she arrives she tells Quian Tian not to take it personally but this is what the President wants. She also expected to stay in a hotel room next to Lu Yu Hao. Gao wanted the same with Quian Tian. The designs Meng and Gao are not innocent. Thankfully Lu Yu Hao put an end to this nonsense by offering to share a room with Gao (double beds) and same could be done for Quian Tian and Meng.

Yu Hao says to Jing Tian if you are going out with that Gao guy, then I would rather go to work.

Yu Hao asking the question if we give everything away for free how will that increase our business is a good question that makes sense. They lack communication skills.

It was wrong of Meng to bad mouth Joan Tian and claim that some of the bad greedy things her mother did were things Jing Tian did. Meng was concerned about her mother looking bad and therefore making her look bad.

Jian Tian telling her stepmother that she would not allow Meng to marry Yu Hao because Yu Hao by law would be allowed some of the inheritance was wrong. Jing Tian anger towards her stepmother is warranted. However Jing Tian KNEW Meng goal in life was to marry Yu Hao. Meng should have begged Jing Tian not to hurt her chances and Meng did make it clear she would take Yu Hao even if he had no money. Jing Tian's desire to stop her stepmother does not mean she should hurt Meng too. Because Jian Ting wanted to do, this caused Meng to join her mother to discredit Jian Ting. Meng wasn't entirely in the wrong.

I don't know why Meng Yuan and Gao think they can stop Yu Hao and Qing Tian from getting together. Chou Ming Island isn't the only place Yu Hao and Qing Tian can choose to meet and develop a relationship.

Yu Hao was never happy with his life. He has convinced himself since he was a child and after his father died that he was the cause of his father's death. After his father died he never smiled again and never did anything with his life. When he heard his grandmother gave up on him that hurt him more because love, not money, was what he desired more. So he went to work at store #2 in hopes of earning his grandmother's affection again. He believed Qian Tian stole his grandmother's affection and he wanted it back.

That customer raised his arm underneath the plate Yu Hao was holding causing the juice to spill on himself. Yu Hao even said you did that but that customer complaining was extremely rude while he claims Yu Hao was the one that was out of line. Yu Hao shouldn't have said "it's just a shirt." Yet what Yu Hao said about the shirt doesn't even compare with how nasty that customer was.

The ending with their little cook out was just so adorable. The two Qing Tian and Lu Yuhao have very good chemistry and are so cute together.

Ref 34:00 Yu Hao blaming himself for his dad's death: Yu Hao spiral downhill (ruining his own life) started after he believed he killed his own father: by dropping his toy boat out the window. His father tried to retrieve it but the son, Yu Hao when he was little, ran out the car to get it as a large truck was heading towards him. The father intervened and ended up being the one who got run over and died. Since then Yu Hao never smiled again and was sad for years. There was one part in the series where he tells someone how meeting Xing Tian helped him not think about the bad things in his life. He carried that pain for years. When the grandmother found out that Yu Hao blamed himself for his dad's death she said to Yu Hao "You can't think this way. You won't be able to have a normal life. It's not your fault."

At 33:30 the servant argued with Yu Hao. Yu Hao was upset his grandmother didn't tell him about her illness like she kept it from him. The servant said all you did was care about her money. Yu Hao said I really didn't know how he would responded. He was indeed upset his grandmother got a heart attack. The servant isn't quite right here. Yu Hao does love his grandmother despite his being a spoiled child. Xing Tian was the only person who saw through Yu Hao: understood hin. She said although his personality is bad she does not believe he is a bad person. This mattered a lot to Yu Hao. Likewise despite the family being angry at Xing Tian thinking she had ulterior motives Yu Hao believed in her and wrote that he would give her his trust: believe her. This mattered a lot to Xing Tian. It's a know wonder these two will end up caring about each other. They both understood each other where it mattered the most.

Having Xing Tian live with her next door Yu Hao seems to indicate the grandmother was indeed hoping Xing Tian's goodness will influence Yu Hao's direction in life and that maybe they will indeed become a couple. Recall the grandmother much later even told Yu Hao that she was hoping to find him a shrewd wife to help him run the company. Thus what Meng's mom saying the grandmother was trying to get Yu Hao and Xing Tian to be together was indeed true. Then the grandmother planned to have Xing Tian run the company and hope that Yu Hao would marry Xing Tian meaning they both be together to oversee the company. These were indeed the grandmother's plan.

Meng's mom believed the grandmother was purposely trying to get Xing Tian and Yu Hao together and eventually marry with the company being managed by Xing Tian and Yu Hao marrying Xing Tian meaning the both of them are the future of the company and Gao, the lawyer, can't sell the 2nd city store and manage the company.

That Gao guy was dishonest. He told Qing Tian that Yu Hao beat him up but did not tell her it was because he was bothering Yu Hao to make him admit that he liked Qing Tian when it was clear Yu Hao told him it was none of his business and he didn't want to talk about it. He knew Yu Hao had a temper so he purposely baited Yu Hao into getting upset. Jealousy makes Gao not a nice person.

People say Jerry look too thin this series. He did Down With Love in 2009. You saw how thin he was but not that thin. After Down With Love and before My Splendid Life Jerry got gastritis a stomach problem. As a result he lost 15 lbs in an already thin body. That why he look too thin for this series. He got very sick.

Gao Zhen is way to pushy and pressuring. He and Qing Tian haven't even started dating and already he springing it on her to be his girlfriend when she only thought of him as a brother. That is so uncomfortable for anybody. I think his being so forward is reason for her to be turned off. Already he even expects her to commit to him saying don't think of anyone else. As someone who has experienced this, that alone kills even a friendship in my opinion. I'd be too nervous and uncomfortable being around that person.

Towards the end the servant tells the grandmother that Gao Zheng and Meng headed to the island in addition to Qing Tian and Yu Hao. The servant asks "with those four people at the island will there be a problem?" The grandmother says "there could be a fight and Gao Zheng is in good physical shape so our family's Yu Hao will be at a disadvantage." Servant then points out that Yu Hao hasn't been well lately (Yu Hao has fallen in love with Qing Tian). The grandmother says "he will have to learn the more you try to run from something, the earlier you have to face it. This way you will know what to do and have no regrets."

Beautiful story with excellent acting.😂

Those crying scenes with Jerry Yan are heartbreaking. Made me cry too even after re-watching them.

Seeing father reunite with daughter whom she believed was dad was dead was such a emotional scene. However the fact that the stepmother could even think to separate them for life like this is just so evil.

Meng's mother keeps saying the grandmother was hoping Qing Tian and Yu Hao will end up together. At first I did not think so. Lu Hao himself persuaded his grandmother to work at the Second store. However the grandmother conditioned Qing Tian to come live with her. Why? Likely she hoped Qing Tian would be a good influence for Yu Hao. The grandmother said to her servant that she wished Yu Hao could be more like Qing Tian. Later the grandmother even told Yu Hao her original plan was to give him a shrewd wife to help him with the company, but now she sees that is no longer needed.

Gao's son saying he would be ashamed to vote against the president after Lu Hao's desperate speech isn't just about Lu Hao. Lu Hao and Qing Tian are two of the company's employees along with the other members of the Second Store. There is also the 80% of the employees willing to take a 30% salary cut for the next 6 months. Gao's son chose to listen and side with the employees request to give the President time to tidy up loose ends of the company. That was the right thing to do. Furthermore Gao's son was right. He was not trying to harm his father. He was saving his father. The President was right to be angry that Gao would expect his son to help him hide what he did that was illegal.

Meng Yuan says as long as Qing Tian leaves Yu Hao I'll do anything. It seems Meng's long term resentment that Qing Tian's father always had a closer relationship with his real daughter Qing Tian is what fuels her resentment of Qing Tian borders on a real sickness. That is why Meng said to Yu Hao why does it have to be Qing Tian (you fell in love with)? So she is saying if it was someone else she can accept that? This kind of resentment borders on, in my opinion, a mental illness, not just an obsession.

Gao is way too agressive and pressures Qing Tian for a relationship with her which makes her very uncomfortable. Every time Qing's girlfriend tries to persuade Qing Tian to be with Gao you can tell from her discomfort that despite Gao trying his best to help Qing Tian she does not feel romantically attracted to him and keeps her distance. Likewise Yu Hao never considered Meng Yuan as a girlfriend. The tabloids make those claims but Yu Hao always considered and treated Meng as a friend and his little sister he tries to comfort. Yu Hao and Qing Tian hated each other at first, but the more they got to know each other and their inner thoughts it was too late for those two. Yu Hao never fell in love before. You can tell from his discussions with Qing Lang (Qing Tian's disabled brother) that liking someone hurts that Yu Hao has never been in love before. Besides how could he? He hated himself and considered himself unworthy because of his belief that he caused the death if his own father. Also note that Lu Hao told Qing Lang that being with Mi Mi (Qing Tian) made him forget his own unhappiness.

Yu Hao tells Qing Tian that he will believe her no matter what other people say. He has fallen in love with her and he trusts her fully. He even wrote in those work notes that he would start trusting her more even back then. Yu Hao is actually quite intelligent and can think independently. He didn't get fooled by Meng Yuan and Meng's mother.

Chapter 24 is a turning point for the character Yu Hao. He has matured and is serious about work. However during the anniversary of his father's death which is celebrated each year he is brokenhearted. It was said he saw his father killed in front of him and has since then never smiled again. Quian Tian is feeling bad for him. What people don't know is Yu Hao's secret pain: the belief that he caused his father's death. As a child he accidentally loses his toy out the car window and runs to get it after his dad stopped the car however an oncoming truck was about to hit him and so his father ran to save his son's life only to lose his own. Yu Hao felt such guilt and unhappiness that he has since then led a useless life because he does hate himself for what he believed was his fault. He was too ashamed to tell anyone until the day he thought he was losing his grandmother.
