The Magic of Making Art
There are so many possibilities that continue to open up as I expand my capabilities for creating art. It is magic! It’s so easy to take for granted all of these processes and what goes into making things. So each day I have to recognize the amazing opportunities I have here in my studio.
This is a unique experience.
How many people get involved with this kind of stuff?
I get to transform the available materials into something beautiful. How cool is that!

but.... you have the same power at your finger tips to find out what a piston actually looks like or anything for that matter ... you might get farther online by not playing stupid about playing stupid.... but great job on the art piece,.. it's different

It’s a connecting rod. It connects the piston to the crankshaft

Boy you know dang well what that is... If you have the basic skill sets to bring alloys to a molten state, and not a boil, let alone the delicate balance of bronze, that you know exactly what this is.

It's a connecting rod. The piston connects to the little end and the big end connects to the crank shaft

That’s a pretty wild piece of art and really cool. It’s a connecting rod. The little end connects to the piston and the big end to the crankshaft. You should try and find a Rod and piston together and see what you can create with that next.

Amazing talent, looks gorgeous. It's a connecting rod and cap. Piston connects on the smaller end with a wrist pin. Gorgeous though. Love it 😁

Thanks for that information! Glad you like the piece. I forgot to mention that I titled it “elevated“. It’s pretty fun taking something like this simple cast off and transforming it into something new. 🥰

“'Brand-new' goes back to the 16th century, as does 'fire-new'. Both words referred to the newness of an object fresh from the fire, forge, or furnace.” -Merriam Webster Dictionary These sculptures are fresh out of the furnace! I love how they have turned out. Creating something meaningful is a winding journey. It’s filled with new discoveries and possibilities continue to open up as you continue forward. How long did it take me to make these pieces? A lifetime. Because there is so much that is being said here from a lifetime of experiences and observations of life, death and relationships. For many people the imagery of skulls might be associated with something disturbing, scary or creepy. I get that. But for me there’s so much beauty and depth in these “inheritance” sculptures. It’s definitely open to interpretation, but that is a big part of the concept and themes of many of my sculptures. Larger than life figures interacting with smaller humans. ❤

    • @roblesmetalart

Up until recently all of my sculptures were in steel. Over the past year I felt that I needed to evolve into something new and develop my own bronze foundry. Nothing in silver yet😉. Thanks for the question!

Thank you for sharing your journey Nathan & for making it real. I’m glad you are finding tools to help some with anxiety & depression. The walking & running in the morning is a great idea. Expressing it verbally is another release, and you are so eloquent. I struggle with low moods at times as well & think it’s often from feeling so disconnected from community. Like Living in a bubble. Do hope that your new venture with the bronze factory is a roaring success. I’m glad you can dip into such a fresh direction. All the best to you. (And to your family. ❤❤)

My girlfriend who casts metal professionally recommends hitting the cup with a ball ping hammer instead of the shell surrounding your artwork. The vibrations should help it all fall off without hitting your work.
