PODCAST: CSX in Northwest Ohio
Переглядів 665 місяців тому
It's June 2023 and summer is in full swing as CSX moves the tonnage in the Buckeye State on former Baltimore and Ohio rails. Join us as we present an audio review of just some of the action over the course of our trip. Note: Most of the action is in Deshler as the Fostoria recordings had too much wind. We do recommend the Iron Triangle Park in Fostoria for great viewing of both CSX and Norfolk ...

Podcast: the J on North Mountain

In December 1957 O. Winston Link captured a J class locomotive on the N&W in Rural Retreat, VA hauling a train called The Pelican. This an his other recordings have become possibly the most icon recordings of steam locomotives ever made. Today we pay homage to those recordings with a trip to the old C&O as an old rival rules the rails. We present the best of our captures from Goshen to Staunton...

Long Hood Forward on Loup Creek PLUS CSX 1776!
In 2016 i got to ride with shay #5
Why doesn’t it have any bells?
Thats awful
Great video, I don't know if you have ever seen the RF&P Heritage unit, that's the only one I've seen, caught that one while in Folkston GA back in early March, I'm also kind of curious what RJ Corman did with the old SD40-2 and the SD40t-2's, I remember you did tell me, but silly me, I forget things easily, anyhow stay safe out there, and keep the vids coming.
I haven’t seen the RF&P yet but I’m glad you did. As for Corman engines, 7107 and 8569 left the property last year for North Carolina. 8718, the one tunnel motor they left behind, has just been sitting by the yard office in Harvey. I haven’t been out that way in a while to know if it’s still there or not. With RJ Corman starting a new operation in Texas, she may well be leaving as well but I don’t know that for sure
All three are gone. They kept 8718, but recently shipped it off on a local freight train bound for Texas. Me and another friend caught them rolling 8718 across the Thurmond Bridge one last time! But stay tuned… there’s a new mining operation coming to the area that may require some more locomotive power!
@GandAdventures wait a minute, there's new mining coming to the new river area. If so, is it on the RJ corman line, or where else would it be. Cause that's the only area I can think of. 😂
@@countryroadrailproductions2008, yes although I’m very limited as to what I can say there’s construction already underway and it is near the current Pax load out. They are wanting rail service to this new facility BUT which rail company will serve such mine is currently being debated due to lease agreements. I know permits have already been approved through the county, so it’s only a matter of when not if. I plan to make a video on it in the coming months.
In Harper's ferry you can see the remnants of the first b&o bridge over the river there next to the newer bridge
Congrats on the catch! Waiting in Ohio to start my checklist. Still have 3 or 4 NS left 😅
Hope you can start your CSX checklist soon! If memory serves, CSXT 1871 the Atlantic Coast Line unit and CSXT 1827 the B&O unit have both been rolling through the Buckeye State as of late
Very nice vid, great technical details.
Thank you!
Great short catch and video
Thank you!
It was great meeting you at the Show.
Great meeting you as well
Always looking forward new videos from you Lucas . Keep up good work and videos Looking forward to new videos on the Pax railroad line out the mine How close are you aloud to get to the mine ? Whats the average numbers of cars aloud in the mine at one time
We’re is this at
C&O Heritage Center. Clifton Forge, VA
@@whiteoakrail ok
When is the whole video coming out on your page and rest of the trains coming Thurman
I’m not sure when I’ll get it out honestly
Waiting for the next chapter of videos coming out of Thurmond and coal mine loads coming across of the bridge in Thurmond
Nice my first ever CSX heritage unit was the Chesney system
Now that’s a heck of a first catch! Can’t wait to see that for myself
Same here!
The day on my birthday, i was wanting to go there. I got to go on the day before though, so that's nice.
Have a good time?
I did, I got to see many. There was a whole bunch of other people there.
Nice. 👍
Thanks!
What a catch! 👏👏
I think I know where this was filmed , whyoming county new coal tipple along the old VGn mainline , on river road between Pineville and Mullins
Not quite on the VGN main. A few miles from Elmore yard on the Guyandot River Branch
Is that train going slow so that hobo's can jump on?
Nope. It’s getting ready to load coal. You go very slow when you do that
Thats a catch..
I thought so too! Nice surprise after just stepping outside and hearing that rumble.
@@whiteoakrail where was the clip taken
@saldeck6189 summers county high school in Hinton. I had broadcasted a basketball game and was packing up when I heard it
@@whiteoakrail kool
Great video here
Thank you
Hopefully, next time I come back down, I can catch them. I wish I could have filmed the SD40T-2s, I just never know when these guys are running
Hopefully. There is still one of the tunnel motors on the property, RJC 8718 is still sitting at the office in Harvey last I saw (last week). I don’t know when the last time is that it’s run but it’s still here. It is a crapshoot as to when they’ll be running though. I’ve come up empty several times.
I want to catch them the next time we come down there!
Hope you can! I’ve yet to chase them leading but they really are a sight to see. So much bigger than those tunnel motors.
Looking forward to new video's of coal trains coming out of the Pax coal main coming into Thurmond jointing the C S X main
Glad see you back glen hope you good Thanksgiving Merry Christmas 🎅 and New Year's
Chasing N&W 611
Awesome!! Great updates!! Can’t wait!
Montgomery sounds like another great place for horn and whistle echoes!
Good job! Love seeing videos of the Amtrak Cardinal.
Thank you! It’s fun to film it
Nice Video Lucas! 👍👍👍 It was Great Running into y'all last night! Keep Up the Great Work Man!
Nice video of the Montgomery WV station at night!
Thank you!
Thats pretty sick of you ask me
It’s really cool to see. Wish I’d took a ride on it, maybe next time
What's 'wierd' is less than half of the cars are tagged!
Thurmond we have the meet 😂😂
Saw them running today bringing loads down into Thurmond with the SD-70Ms on the rear while the CSX power was leading long hood forward (sadly didn't get a photo as had to get back to traveling north)
That had to have been a sight. A friend told me they were going down long hood forward but I couldn’t make it out that way
That second locomotives sure looks bizzar. I've never seen anything like that.
Real loaded from Texas to NTC in California 2AD 1984
Remember getting the heads up of military but did not get to thurmond that day
Great overhead work! The top of it looks different from most.
Thank you!
I just love hearing and watching trains I'm 64 I remember hearing and seeing them once in awhile 😊
Traveld this branch on amtrak great views thru rhe window
Great shot wish I cud have join
Thanks Walter!
Awesome catch!
