Gene and Paul, especially Paul was jealous of Ace. They didn’t want him to become more popular than them. They saw fans gravitated towards Ace and Paul couldn’t stand it. Paul thought if he just puckered up with his red lipstick and showed off his cute little red rose on his arm he would win the fans over. It’s laughable.
