Day 2 Sedona March 2024
Our 2nd day in Sedona. Unfortunately some of the best footage on Outer Limits is gone from the SD card; user error I'm sure. It was an epic part of the trail!

Central Maine chapter of NEMBA (CeMeNEMBA.0rg) did some trail work at Mt Apatite in Auburn, ME. There were persistent wet spots that are now a dream.

Part 2 of our 4th day. This was my favorite trail. I was nervous about exposure, but it was a none factor, thankfully. Enjoy!

Part 1 of our 4th day. Such a fun trail. Another one I want to go back and do again now that I know what to expect.

Such an incredible trail. I was cautious since it was my first time, so now I want to go back, of course.
Kokopelli - Rustler Fruita/Loma Colorado

We finally found some good riding after being disappointed at 18 Road. The area just had too much rain and the trails were soft there. Thankfully Kokopelli and Lunch Loops were really good.

Nice work. Lots of it.
Thanks!
My dad had one of these on the mid 60s
Did you ever get to drive it? They’re a hoot to operate!
Wonderful
Thank you
Ahhhhhh snap, at 3:29, is that gramatik or pretty lights? I used to love that song
The song is called Rock Angel, but I'm not sure who the artist is
5:27 Ah man I wanted to see you send it on the jump line
Well I’m not sure I’m capable of sending it but unfortunately my voice commands to the GoPro we’re doing just the opposite of what I wanted, so I got footage of me climbing back up instead. Boooo! Ha!
Hello Chris! I saw that A-Team sticker
Hi Mike! A-Team forever! Ha!
Great restoration but in some scenes it seems like u may be in too high a gear,in 1st gear bull low u can keep marching forward with in reason, cheers and thanks
Yes, for sure. I had to laugh when my 90 yr old father got on it for the first time in a very long time and tried to speed shift it into 3rd or 4th gear. I cringed because it was its maiden voyage, but he was pretty excited. We did fix the timing and a few other things that were keeping it down on power too. Thanks for the comment!
Is that engine running at full RPM at the beginning of the video? It seems rather short on Power.
No, not even close. This was its maiden voyage so it was closer to an idle at the beginning. Also that snow was frozen solid, so it's a little deceiving. We also found that the rocker arm assembly was loose making that buzzing noise and the timing was off. All fixed now.
Great. @@mainemtbr
True labor of love in restoring a wonderful piece of equipment! ❤❤❤!
Thanks Jerry! It was a challenge at times but very rewarding. Dad has been using it lately and I love to see him on it at 90 yrs old.
Chris T, is that you?
Yessiree bud, in the flesh. We had a blast
@@mainemtbr Haha! Maybe I knew before that you had a UA-cam channel, but forgot. I started watching this, and thought, "What a pleasant, familiar voice". Then I saw the orange Ripmo and figured it must be you. Next year, I hope to ride with you again, Bradbury 12 or no. Have a good Christmas, buddy!
Yes let’s ride again! Hopefully they’ll get things sorted out for BB12 next year. Merry Christmas to you and your family too
thanks for sharing this video! love from Augusta, ME.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@mainemtbr do you know about the trails here in Augusta? Should check them out! Bond Brook recreation area
Yes, Ive been there many times. I hope to get back there and make an updated video of the new trails.
Wow you’re moving on those fat bikes!
The conditions were frozen and hard so it was easy to go fast.
we have one too, I find the dozer blade isn't at all good for snow. one day will adapt a proper snow blade. have to watch it in the snow if traveling parallel to a slope, steel on snow doesn't make for much traction and you start sliding sideways. Not so fun with a pond at the bottom of the hill. Perpendicular to the slope, all's well.
Agreed. We were just playing around with it on its maiden voyage to make sure everything was working properly. I have a 2320 with a 54" blower on the front for real snow removal.
It's a small dozer, not a D8
Some had a 53 Detroit, but I like the John Deere better
Yikes!
Noooo, fun!
I'm dying to try out my new bike there this spring! Never been there, would you say it's good for a newbie?
There is a mixture of everything there, so yes, very doable for a newbie. Signature can be done in either direction. The Blue trail is more of a double track.
Nice Job!! Did you needed to rebuilt the pin and bushing of the tracks?
Thanks. We thought about it because they were pretty worn but we found a guy locally who had a few different sets of tracks both used and new. He also took ours in trade to re-pin them. He was a great resource.
Sir that is a very nice John Deere Dozer 👍👍👌👌😇😇🍻🍻
Why thank you! It runs great. I’ve done some fine tuning and finally got the fenders on since this video. Now I just got to put the Braden PTO winch back together and install it.
That is so awesome to see my dad had one when I was little guy boy I wish I hadi it now
Thanks Rick. It was pretty awesome to see my Dad take it on it’s maiden voyage
Excellent work and performance!
Thanks Doug!
I have one have to put the blade on runs good
Nice! It’s a great machine.
Great little dozer I had one just like yours great job on the restoration great video thanks
Thanks Jeffrey!
Very nice, I have a 50s Oliver crawler not that nice but runs , has a Mazda pu motor now.
Nice! I bet that motor swap was a challenge
Great restoration! Love the before and afters! Too cool 😎
Thanks!
So cool to see him still out playing!
I can’t keep up with him!
Amazing!
Yes Mtb isn’t dead! You are good and nice video! I subscribed to you and I do ride as well 😃
Thanks!
Do you recommend studded tires?
Yes I do. I know there expensive but I just never know when I may run into icy conditions. There's really no downside to running them
I didn't make it to the end last summer. this summer I'm making it no doubt.
I haven't made it this year yet either. Maybe once I get back from Colorado.
@@mainemtbr I'm riding this sometime the first week of August. if you want to ride with me I'm down.
@@giantsfan1056 If I'm back from Colorado by then, I'll reach out to you.
I like the seths bike hacks sticker
Thanks! He was my inspiration to start riding.
Hey there, when did you do this ride? I’m going to Steamboat in October and this run is absolutely on my list!
Hey Nick! I did a number of times in September and October. The last run I did alone and it had snow in sections. It’s a great trail. The climb trail is called Spring Creek and the descent is Spring Roll. There are others as well that are good
Here’s a link to our whole trip: facebook.com/Dustin-and-Chris-Big-Adventure-103931011477341/
Love your ambition here! You're going to get through that section if it kills you ahah! Cant wait to check out Mt A! Great video too!
Thanks! I’ve just started ‘sessioning’ things until I get them, then move on. It’s helped a lot with my abilities
Nice video! I did that ride solo a couple years ago but couldn't find the rest of the crown trail from the summit. I got to a ledgey clearing with an orange pipe then turned around. Montaka Trail on the other side of Watson Pond Rd is good too, but short.
Thanks! Same here Doug, the first time I did it. The upper loop is pretty sweet. I keep saying I've got to do Montaka, either the fat bike or this summer.
This is very helpful...thank you!
You bet! I'm glad it was. I wasn't sure after I watched it if it would just make things more confusing.
Was that Johnny Depp driving you around in a late 80s F150?
He thinks he is..Ha! He picked that truck up in Billings, Mt. No rust anywhere, I think it's a 91 5.8 4x4, 70k for real cheap money. Not really a Ford guy but it's a great truck.
I hope you are still friends lol.
Ha! Of course! Thanks for watching!
Downhill racer!! Even took some jumps! :D
Oh yeah, I'm badass alright! lol
i really want to ride this
Central Maine NEMBA has made some great improvements there since this video too. It's one of my favorite places
Nice Seth sticker!
Ha! Thanks for noticing. I had one of Drama on the seat tube too!
What type of bike are you using? I am in search of a mountain bike for the trails.
I have a 2020 Specialized Stumperjumper Downieville edition. In my opinion your best bet is to go to a lot of different shops and try them out. Figure a maximum budget and go from there. Good luck DaveT!
You are one rad grandfather! So cool that you take the grandkids out mountain biking
Well thanks! I really enjoy it too!
There were a couple really sweet looking techy sections on that one, looks like it sure does make for a really fun ride
Yes it does have a lot of tech sections and punchy climbs. (A little above my pay grade, as you can tell).lol
Maine MTB’r I’m in the exact same boat haha. The tech is definitely my weakness
@@TProStudioCreate I love it though, I'd rather do that than DH to be honest.
Another great Video!!!! And you got my good side.
Yes, yes I did. Ha!
That one sure does look like a good challenge but so fun to ride! And it sure does have some really cool view points. Nice job on this video man. It turned out really great
Thanks! 👍 I appreciate the props. It is the most challenging trail we have I think. My body was screaming at me, but it's all good.
Gotta love when you get absolutely perfect weather for the long weekend! No better way to spend it than out in the woods with the bikes. Wicked video buddy
Well thanks very much for the kind words. It was absolutely gorgeous that day. Stay tuned, I've got another video processing.
Get shimano spd’s !!!! CB eggbeater are the worst pedals to ride on trails!!!! you gonna hurt yourself 😡
Well I'm not so sure about that. These are not eggbeaters, BTW. Most of my issue was learning how because it was the very first time. I may get some XTR's down the road, but for now these Mallets will do just fine. I've got them dialed in better now too. It's all part of the learning process which is what this video was about. Well that and humor.
Maine MTB’r mallets are even worse! because your clip has to find the right spot to fall into the pedal, with spds it clips and unclips in a blink of an eye, if it takes 2 or 3 seconds to un clip or clip, that’s enough to send you to the ground.
@@inspktr51 Well that's your opinion. There are many out there who use them just fine. At this point I am fine with them, they work well. This video is more about the light-hearted attempt at learning cliplesss, not about product comparison.
You know your in for a long ride when it starts like that haha. Hope you didn’t get to bruised up on the ride. Despite all of it, it still looked like a super fun day trying to get used to the new paddles. Very entertaining footage at least
HA! Thanks! Yeah it was a long day. That's one tough trail even without learning how to pedal again. I got my elbows a couple of times and went OTB into the rocks once when I was not paying attention and hit my bars on a tree, so my ribs are a little sore. All that said, it was a terrific day. I'm so glad I tried it.
Maine MTB’r hope you get healed up and get back out to get some more sweet footage soon
@@TProStudioCreate Thanks! Working on more right now!
loosen the tension or get the shimano with light retention force and the multi angle release clip. after 25 years of mountain biking I too just switched to clipless. The shimano's were pretty darn easy to get out of.
Thanks Jim. I went back and forth between the Crank Bros and the Shimano. I ended up with the Mallet E LS because they have the adjustable pins and a platform that is more like what I'm used to. I did get them dialed in better after this ride. I found I needed to move the cleats back more. Who knows, I may get some XTRs in the future. Happy trails!
I ride there often, 2019 Stumpy, tubeless at low psi works pretty good.
Nice! I can't wait to go back, if this rain ever stops.
Looks like some great riding there! Hope you're loving the new bike...
It is a great trail system there if you like the rugged techy stuff. And yes, I am loving the new bike. The Lyrik fork is a huge difference.
@@mainemtbr yeah... looks pretty rugged. I do like that kind of riding. I don't know much about different forks. What is really good about the Lyrik?
@@scottrulander4567 It just absorbs the rough stuff so much better. It has more rebound and compression adjustments on it than my other bike. It gives me more confidence.
@@mainemtbr Sounds great... Bikes just keep getting better..:) Looks like some good days of drying after today's storm... Looking forward to your next adventure. Enjoy!
@@scottrulander4567 That's for sure. Thanks Scott! Hope to see you out there on the trails!
Snow biking is on my bucket list.....you sir are a die hard MTB'r.
Well hey, thanks. I'm addicted that's for sure. You really ought to try it, it's a blast!
