I watched Green Street last night because I saw it on Netflix and I've never seen it before. It's probably the stupidest film I've ever sat through in my entire life. All the characters are called stuff like "bovver", "stabber", "bagger", and the leaders go by "the major", "the general" etc. They all just walk about in their jeans and white trainers, shaking hands with each other and saying stuff like "g'won, son" and "propa nawty" in the most insufferable affected London accents imaginable. There's a scene where one of the West Ham degenerates poses as a steward and stands in front of all the Birmingham fans and starts goading them. There is nothing between him and the crowd, not even a wall, but they all just stand there shaking their fists and making the wanker gesture at him and he's doing the "hold me back" routine despite being stood all on his own. There's another scene where the Millwall firm coordinate an attack on a West Ham pub by jumping through the glass windows like that dog in Resident Evil. Elijah Woods looks like the woman my aunt dated for a bit when she was going through an experimental phase following her divorce, but you're supposed to buy into his journey from American Harvard student to British football hooligan. The film finishes with one of the main characters dying from being punched too much yet ends on this bizarre high note that tries to convey the message that being a football hooligan is good because it gives you a bit of confidence and can help you meet new people. Very weird film.

What an absolute joke of a film ! The football factory and the firm ( old and remake ) are the best by a country mile !!

The date is 13/05/2006. Its 17:59. West ham have just lost the fa cup final on penalties. Bovvers girlfriend opens the front door of the flat to reveal the balcony door ajar. She cautiously approaches the balcony to find bovver or seemingly what looks like bovver lassoed to the building by his neck from 6 ft below. She tries to haul up his limp corpse with all her might, this takes several minutes due to her slight frame but after lifting his body to the railing of the balcony she comes to terms with what was happened. …west ham have lost the fa cup. In shock she releases her grip on the rope dropping bovvers body, as the rope extends fully it snaps sending bovvers corpse hurtling 27 stories.
