Thanks so much for posting this, it was super helpful and now my AGS is working again, with no code. Dealership wanted $1400. One useful hint for anyone else who may find this video...when my wire broke (in the same location as the video), it also apparently shorted out and blew the fuse. I got everything reconnected and was discouraged when it didn't work. Then I had the thought to check the fuses, and was back in business after a quick stop at Advance Auto Parts.
Thanks to you for posting this, I was able to fix the same issue. All in all took just under 4hrs. In my case the white wire wasn't completely broken, however, corrosion inside the wire harness gave it away. Found the problem area and reconnected all wires. Had purchased a new connector but found no need to use it. I can't thank you enough. 🙏 Can only imagine what the dealer would have done/charged for repair.
We have a 2019 Ram and our air dam was humming. It has a recall on the air dam. We had ours replaced twice under the recall then got a letter that the air dam in the 2019 Ram is on a 8 year recall. So for the next 8 years it will be replaced free if it goes out again.
This! 100 percent same issue. White comm wire broke in the same exact spot. Hard to tell since the shielding was not broke. Replace wire as far east and west as possible. 2019 ram 1500 big horn. U11e9 code- fan would turn on after start up. Saved hundreds by not taking it to a dealer. Thank you!
Did you ever have a problem with the code popping up after changing the wire harness I changed my active grill shutters and still have the same problem u11e9 Keeps popping up but I never changed the harness
Getting the AGS off is a nightmare for a DIYer. Snapped a few trim clips. Replaced the AGS after getting the U11E9 error and a year later the U11E9 error is back with new unit. Begs the question if this cable was bad then why did new AGS work for a year b4 failing again. Ive a 2019 Ram 1500. Dealership wants $2k to replace again and Ive no faith in them given past experience. Is it possible to replace this cable without removing the AGS again and dismantling the entire front of truck? Thanks for video.
I was able to replace my harness without removing the AGS unit, but it was a tight squeeze. Definitely lost a few layers of skin rubbing against the radiator. I did obviously have to remove the plastic trim under the hood that covers the AGS/Radiator, but nothing other than that.
First off thank you so much for the informative video! I was just about to ask for the part number or a link. Then I seen it in one of the comments. Maybe add it in the video description? Easy and quick to find. Thanks for the video.
Yep, worst part is getting the two valences under the headlights off. Some hidden screws and the locking tabs next to the headlights are a pita. Some videos on here. Take your time.
There are three wires. Positive negative and the communication wire. If the shutter moves, the positive and the negative wire are working fine you’re more than likely have a broken communication wire like shown in the video.
I did ask that he did and still my code Comes up I even replace the active grill shutters and the connector he did still code pops up every time

You said if you just disconnect the shutters, the check engine light will go away? The code I got was P1D73
When do they close when you shut off vehicle ?
I think they cycle every start but close until the vehicle is at operating temp.

Does the fan close when vehicle is shut off ?
Having the same issue. Was your fan running constantly with the shutters open?
No
Changed the shutter and the whole harness for the front bumper. Guess I'm onto finding the bus module...
Very helpful video thank you

I don’t think so.

Walked outside and saw my air dam was down, hopefully this fixes it the code popped about two weeks ago deleted it and the light went off.
How many miles on your odometer when this issue occurred?
50k
Same issue 44k
Mine just popped up at 65k
Did it worked? I’m having the same problem.

What do you mean a com or bus issue I did it and it worked so I’m into that step
