Thank you for sharing your honest and descriptive review. To me, the backlight alone is enough to migrate to this model. The colors are nice to have, though hopefully, software updates will help make them more vibrant. Enjoy your new machine!

Another good video. How do you find the blackness of the black ink? I understand that it's not black e-ink but created with a CMY colour mix. Is it black or an off black if that makes sense.

Noticed the same noise when flipping Pages in my pro as well. The screen though is more grey with no backlight on imho. The pen as you say is better, an order of magnitude better than RM2.

Can you search in Remarkable? Can you search inside the docs you are writing?

Moving away from Wacom is a big issue for me and no Android support is not a device I can use for the nearly $1K USD expense. Thats if you want all the bells and whistles.

Cancelled the order purely over the high pitched sound on a friend's new unit. If your hearing is normal, it will drive you up the wall. It is not an enjoyable experience to say the least. And once you notice it, it's impossible to un-hear it. Just my 2 cents.

Battery pen and no button, USB-C to C is annoying, glad it's thicker and has a bucket design since rM2 is so fragile, but I don't want it bigger, it's missing the bar on the left which was good for holding, still glass screen though and I don't trust them with the paper feel. Darker/grayer screen is another minus then. Damn, if that noise is supposed to be there then it goes against their distraction free thing. But colors is nice, not something I cared much about and it's annoying how it's gotta refresh. The light I like, looks very nice on camera. Price is insane though so f that.

Congratulations on the new device. Can you also please show how a pic from a book would look? Did you pay the monthly/yearly fee on your rem2? I was grandfathered into it so I did not have to pay. I would get the Pro, but if I have to pay, I will just keep my rem2.

why Is the device so dark and grey?

the pen can go a straight line with the ruler but the shading part of the pen is done by tilting. You should test the ruler straight line with the top of the pen also resting on a ledge or something so that the shader doesn't come in to play as you draw your line. Also, pressure changes the thickness of the line so can seem to not be straight as varying levels of pressure is applied when writing with the pen at an angle I guessing.

Do you have an Apple Pencil to test the feeling? Also do you think that the nib being bigger, makes you write in a less precise manner?

Does the screen darker than RM2?

This is so awesome. Great video. I have been using RM2 and now with the Pro and colors in it, it would definitely my to go one.

Nice first view. It looks a bit disturbing seeing the device on the table. It looks like a very grey screen border and grey background of the display. But when you put it next to the window, I was happy that it shows an almost white screen and borders. It is not as white as the Remarkable 2, but close enough for my taste.

How long did you wait from it from the moment you ordered it?

Someone on Reddit said they talked to RM support and said the noise is on all of them, and nothing they can do about it. Others say it doesn't do it while writing notes, just pdf refresh. Thank you for your thoughts on this. Will check out your RM community and just subscribed as well.

I've seen reports on the Reddit RM thread of the high pitch electronic sound. Would be interested to hear what RM says about it. I'm usually working in an environment where there is some humming/white noise/fans so I don't think it would bother me. I have my RMPP on order and looking forward to getting it. Got tired of waiting for the A5 version of the new Supernote. Love my Supernote, but the RMPP took me by surprise when it was announced and drew me towards it instead of waiting for Supernote's larger offering. I will miss the notes linking function if I stick with the RMPP instead of Supernote. Appreciate you showing your first impressions. Yes, I am looking for some post-purchase affirmation but I guess it will really be up to personal preference once I get it. Had the Boox Tab Ultra C Pro and the Kaleido screen just wasn't for me and I really do need a less-distracting device. Please report back what you hear from RM regarding the noise. From what I see in your video, the color refresh flashing really isn't that bad. Just watched Kit Betts-Masters' first impression video and he doesn't like the refresh and says its distracting. Guess it's a personal opinion on what everybody tolerates. Either way, I'm pretty excited about my purchase and hope it works out. The bigger screen is definitely my big want.

Thank you for the review! The new pen being charged via the tablet is a massive drawback for me. I really enjoy having a pen that's always ready to go with my remarkable 2. Good to know that I won't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

Can you read books on it?

I am a rM2 user for four years and I ordered the rMPP the same day it was announced. The 11.8" screen and the colour options are the main factors for the upgrade since these are the improvements I always ask for during my four-year use of rM2. When I wrote on the daily planner templates on my rM2, I always wish the screen would be 1-2 inch larger and the colour option will greatly expand my ways to utilise my templates which take the tablet to next level. The front reading light is the icing on the cake and will definitely improve my user experience at night when the wife is sleeping.

Great video and glad to hear genuine thoughts! I have the Staedtler and it's my daily. The only minor gripe is that it's too smooth a writing experience. I almost want a bit more friction when writing. With that in mind, would you recommend I pickup another pen or go for different nibs?

I am keeping my rm2 as they let you have 3 devices on your account and I plan to use one for reference documents and one for daily notes (color pop is important for my brain when note taking).

Good on you for being wise to the dim front light. Got my Paper Pro 2 days ago, and it‘s packaged for returning today due to that overly dim front light, which does not allow me to comfortably read or write anything in very dim/nighttime/no-ambient-light settings, where I like to read and write at the end of a day (without the distraction and radiation caused by other devices). Another drawback: The colors don‘t pop enough for my taste, and while writing in black is fantastically responsive, writing in any other color is very sluggish, which appears to be due to the technology used, so not likely to just be a firmware issue. I‘m very sad to send it back, since I otherwise loved the design, the UI and everything else about it. Going back to my Kindle Scribe.

I started on kick starter of first RM. Have RM2 when it was released now will upgrade at some point but not immediately I can hand me down RM2 to wife she will love it. Thanks

I got one too. As soon as it went on sale. They are great pieces of tech. Had to sign exchange docs for my house the other day and I couldn’t find a pen in the house. I got the keyboard… but unsure if I’ll keep it but it was only $50 extra over the leather.

Like you, I've ordered it to try it out; mainly because of the colour screen and the light.

I think main reason that would motivate me to buy it is around latency or lag. If everything happened faster that would be high consideration for me. Backlight means less focus maybe bit subtlety as you kind of get set up to use remarkable -and that means business, other than open all hours .. Maybe, not sure . When Remarkable pro ultra 3 comes out in 2036 and I can watch UA-cam cat videos in E-ink, then we know they went the wrong way. Looks great product very tempted 😊

Even if the storage increase is not needed in terms of storage, but it actually improves the performance of the pad, as the more you fill a storage in percentage, the more it will slow down the system as storing and so on will get more taxing, probably also affecting the battery time due to needing more work to do a task, so it's a win win.

I would love a mini variation of remarkable

Just ordered mine today. I was impressed with how easy and versatile my RM2 is. I'm interested to see how the Paper Pro compares.

Two things appealed to me about it: the larger screen size and the colour options. When I’m editing my writing the fact that the highlight colour on remarkable 2 only comes out as variations of grey isn’t ideal. It doesn’t really stand out. Switch to the Paper Pro and the colour options means those highlights should really pop. Will I be getting one? Probably not at the moment. The remarkable 2 fits well at the moment, plus I was an early adopter, so I’ve got free access to all of the subscription benefits. Good video and I’ll be interested to see what you think when you receive your Paper Pro. 🤞

On Meeting Log 1, I messed up the links for Lined Notes, Grid Notes, and Blank Sheet on Entry 12. This happened when I accidentally deleted a page and didn't realize what page I was on. Please tell me if there is an "easy" way to fix this? I broke the links at the top of the page for Grid notes and Blank sheet. When you are on Lined Notes. The links for the items work when you are on the first meeting notes page, which has the attendees and agenda.

Really enjoyed the review. I wonder if pen reviews could mention if they take other manufacturer's nibs?
