Gender Pay Gap Is Way More Personal Than We Ever Thought
Переглядів 1,3 тис.8 місяців тому
New research from the e61 Institute has shown that while men and women are often segregated by occupation, this factor alone actually accounts for only 20 per cent of the gender pay gap. 80 per cent of the gender pay gap is due to women being paid less than men within the same occupation. This is why flexibility for all and universal carers leave are crucial for gender equity. WORK180 CEO, Gemm...

True dat
Maybe theres just so much politics in everything we do. Because you can't just say whatever you feel or think - you can't tell the whole truth and have it not rub someone the wrong way or you dont fit in. I think for the most part it is a privelage to work on tv. Not everybody who tries gets that break so she seems difficult because of her criticism. I can see why she would come off as ungrateful. But beyond her acting she saves animals, like in a big way - rescues dogs especially ones nobody wants. Nobody cruel does that.

There is no gender gap. This is average vs average incomes, not considering hours worked or positions. This is a fallacy

I'm a child
of course its researched, produced and directed by a women 🤣
A lot of ppl are asking "how can this be" .. Well it is actually quite simple. You gather and compare your data to what provides positive results for you. There are many "women dominant" fields of work that they drop from their study. Why? Because it shows that in those fields men make less than women. Statistics show that far fewer women are interested in STEM fields so that is a great place to pull data from. Smaller percentage of the work force, in the field for less time will always produces lower income. I see women in all levels of work and from all races. Sweeping floors to managing and calling the shots in larger businesses .... and I come for the so called "white privileged" world, where, if you get your information from places like this, I should only see fat old white dudes prospering..... Is this true across the board? Of course not. And where we have inequities they do need to be corrected but gibberish from ppl that make a career out of it like this person, and media outlets that propagate it just to feel connected only damage the progress. This line of speak will never end. We hear the same thing from almost every gender, identity, race, culture, religious belief, etc. etc. etc. This has become our cry to existence.....
its garbage
it's because they have kids and CHOOSE to dedicate their time to kids. thats it, full stop. Having said that, I worked for 15 years in corporate sales and marketing in a huge western liberal city. The industry is dominated by women. they all make 6 figures, and I would say there is 1 man for every 2 women in the industry. So when I see women complaining about the pay gap a discrimination, I roll my eyes. Men are the ones who need help today. Fewer women than women graduate college each year. We have a male crisis today. Women have done great over the past 30 years.
If it’s true that women get paid less for doing the same work, I would hire nothing but women. Seriously, I would have a huge competitive advantage. Why hire a man then if they need to be paid more for the same work? Because it’s rubbish. Businesses run businesses, not Men’s charity. People are paid what they deserve.
This is a debunked claim. Women work fewer hours, take more time off from work, work in lower paying jobs.
lol its like a soapbox now. It's been debunked over and over. Stop it
I find it hilarious that they never compared the number of hours men work. This is complete hogwash. Men work more total hours. Plain and simple. Leave it to women to be hysterical and misrepresent the data.
Lol. It's a one-to-one negotiation. The real question is - Why are woman accepting lower pay?
lol, this whole thing's point is men need to do more chores? WTF?
The pay gap is real. In theirs world countries. Go to a textile mill on Bangladesh. Who do they hire? Women. Why? Because they actually can pay them less. Either western companies are retarded and are fine with paying more for the same outcome. Or… there’s something else at play. I hate that this thing has been so persistent. I never see these women getting picked hand over fist for job positions. I never see these companies have a 70% female to male split or any other super majority female staff. Stop spreading the myth. Cause that’s what it is. A myth
Okay. Why don’t they just hire women?
We do. And they make the same or better. The problem is they don't want to work here. They want to work low paying jobs and complain.
@@ThereIsNoOtherHandleLikeMine No they dont make any better lol. They're just good in complaining and push back complex stuffs and make men job harder each day
Big load of BS, go look at a surgeon. If they have the same qualifications Female gets paid the same as male. Teacher same thing, military, police, construction, fisherman, pilot. If women were cheaper to hire there would be no jobs for men because all industries would hire only women.
lol, they conveniently left out the same amount of experience as a criterion. How you get causal data from tax data is amazing and impossible. Women and men having different results from pregnancy are going to be different for men and women as long as women have a choice of pregnancy and unmarried mothers. No one wants to change this? I support equal opportunity but lies like this show how the once righteous womans liberation has devolved in another lying lobbyist trying to improve the lot the truth is irrelevant.
Gender pay gap is due to the choices men and women make in regards to occupation choice, number of hours worked, and the fact that women don’t negotiate as well as men for higher salaries because they are on average more agreeable by temperament. There is no systemic sexism boogeyman or patriarchy to blame. If women want to change this they have to look at themselves and change their own behavior
No. The adjusted GPG shows very clearly that a wage gap exists even if the same qualification/position is available, the same number of hours worked, etc. Empirical studies repeatedly show that the assumption "Women should negotiate better, then there would be no pay gap" simply doesn't correspond to the facts. Women who negotiate are automatically assigned negative characteristics (in the work environment and by their boss) and can expect negative consequences in the workplace. However, this doesn't apply to men. They don't even have to have the same experience or be equally qualified; they don't even have to negotiate. But you probably can't expect anyone who has never experienced this form of discrimination in the workplace other than to talk about women rather than to them.
@@glitzerplastikchichiwhy don’t companies hire all women like they used to?
@@glitzerplastikchichi Men are professionally speaking better performers on average in the workplace than women at sports, chess, darts, mathematics, science, selling, etc and so on and so on . Men are far more likely to create a business venture and by default become CEO of that business/company or to be one of the original founders. (and that's also why there are less female CEOs, because if you don't create a company or have the original idea etc then you are far less likely to become a CEO than a man) There is so much I could mention in this post about why and how men tend to do better in the workplace etc than women, that it would literally take a series of books in order to cover all the things that men do differently to women and why and how. So would it really take much of a leap to assume that men are also better performers in most workplace scenarios than women, given than men are usually much better performers at most other things? It's a well-known fact that women on average outperform men academically in schools and colleges etc, but it's a less well known fact that most schools and colleges have in every study been proved to have a bias against males and to mark them lower for the exact same work when the genders are secretly reversed in controlled studies, while the same paper will almost always be marked higher by a female teacher if she knows that the work she is making is from a female student. But none of this matters because it's what you do in later life after school/college that matters. If all workplaces were required by law to closely assess the monetary value of each and every employees with a fine toothed comb then women would probably end up far worse off than they are already if those companies were to pay employees solely by the actual revenue they produce for each company. Also you'll need to explain why men also outperform women on selling sites on ebay. Are ebay buyers sexist? Even A man on ebay selling products aimed at women for women will on average outperform female sellers over time selling the exact same products to the exact same women. Are people like you suggesting the most females ebay buyers are also sexist against female ebay sellers? If the people that produced this video bothered to look around them and actually analyse what is going on with women and men in regards to workplace pay and used examples like ebay etc to truly understand rather than speculate around a preferable scenario and simply say "oh it's probably sexism" they might actually help women understand what they must do to compete. And it's quite simple, if you want to be a CEO then the quickest way to get there is to create something to be CEO of, rather than expect to made CEO of someone else's creation. If you want to be paid more in the workplace, then outperform your colleagues in terms viable revenue rather than tasks completed, because every task has a different value.
I pray for a day where this myth isn't propogated anymore. If women were paid 15% less systemically for the same job. It wouldnt make any sense to even hire a man for those roles. Basically hiring women would give you an economical adavantage over your comeptitors who hire men. Meaning you could lower your product or service cost and other companies couldnt even compete with your low prices.
Essentially every man hired would be an economic liability. While every woman hired has a 15% economic subsidy built in.
Exactly.
According to the law, an employer cannot pay a woman less than a man if they perform the same job, have the same experience and qualifications and work the same amount of time. If he would still pay less, the aggrieved employee (whether male or female) can request compensation in court. But the courts aren't full of genderpaygap cases yet, so how is this?
they left experience at the job as evaluation criteria
@@TristanM13 "The only statistics you can trust are those you falsified yourself" Of course, it is no accident that they do not accurately describe the data and methodology of their statistics.
@@akosyoutub Sadly that is my point they went from a noble just cause to just another lobbyist.
There is no gender pay gap. Take the US women's soccer team. After the women complained, the courts determined that the women actually made more than the men.
Because this report is nonsense, they will keep on pushing the pay gap till the Sun burns out and goes cold 🤦
That means their performance is horrible the data proved it lmao. The gap is because they suck at the job or perform lower that why their raise percent aren't on pace year to year to keep up with harder working groups when you stack everything evenly equal. Should call it the women lazy gap wanting more for doing less.
I don't trust any statistics I haven't faked myself. If you go looking for discrimination, I'm sure you'll find it. If you ask people, everyone is for equality. But not everyone is a feminist. I wonder why. Maybe there's a perception that feminists are eternal malcontents that eventually start hating men?
Cos as a men you have to just do more, something breaks - they call you to take a look, something is heavy - they call you to lift it and then you go to your boss and say - ok, you will pay me extra for this or I'm not helping anyone unless it's my direct job! And our boss raises your salary. I have worked so many places side by side with women and they actually work less on average. So stop this whining, do more and ask for more.
I deliver food for a few daycares and it’s all women working there. Whenever they need to move a table or hang paintings they pay me to do it lol.
1. Your subjective perception of women doesn't reflect reality. The fact that you are making this claim is audacious. 2. “Women should simply negotiate better” is a bogus argument. Studies repeatedly show that when women negotiate, negative characteristics are attributed to them (aggressive, etc.). and salary negotiations often lead to negative consequences in the workplace. Men, on the other hand, are often automatically paid more; they don't even have to negotiate - even if they are less qualified and have less experience.
@@shiv6446 Are you seriously complaining about getting paid for a service?
@glitzerplastikchichi Your point #1 should be applied to your point #2.
Then women should hire more women and give them.higjer salaries but why doesnt this happen@@glitzerplastikchichi
