Traveling to Ten Hundred’s Warehouse for Artists in Wonderland (Behind the Scenes - Day 1)
Переглядів 3 тис.4 години тому
The #artistsinwonderland Behind the Scenes series is here. I had to leave a big chunk of my footage out of my main video to avoid complete chaos. But I really wanted to share all these great moments with you. This series will be completely raw and fairly unedited and without any voiceovers. So if you enjoy the raw, long-form videos, this one is for you. BTS - Day 1: Smoe and me travel from Germ...
How to Spray-Paint a Photorealistic Squirrel on a Public Electric Box
Переглядів 18 тис.День тому
Back to our regular programming after the madness called "Artists in Wonderland". I painted this squirrel on an electric box last week as a commission. I did't plan on making a full video out of it, in fact, I just wanted to check out how my new DJIO Osmo Action 4 performs out in the streets. So I didn't talk much. It was also super, super hot. But the painting turned out great I think, so I th...

Painted June 26, 2023 This is a silent process video, documenting how I turn an ugly and dirty electric box on the side of the road into a colourful photorealistic artwork. I use spray paint and brushes to achieve this result. You can watch this to learn, to see the transformation, or to simply relax. Painting a Spooky Halloween Mural in Abandoned Factory
Переглядів 4,7 тис.8 місяців тому
I had Mattez and Yvonne visiting from Geldern to paint with me at the old factory. Mattez is the organizer of Paint on Walls Festival and when I was there in August to participate, we made plans to paint together at some point. We both had the idea to use rollers for the majority of the wall, but only one of us did stick to it. The weather wasn't ideal. Classic October. Rainy and cold. But we s...

That stencil is a great idea!
Second question: do you prefer realistic, or do the initiators ask for it?
Awesome. Do you ever use airbrush, or always cans? And why?
Is that kind of called graffiti and is it not illegal ??????
Whoop Whoop 😊🙌
Artists in Wonderland series is a gift that keeps on giving. Love the extra footage 🔥🔥
Would've liked to have seen more footage of the finished piece. And not so sure about the yellow because badgers are nocturnal and crepuscular, but otherwise great work.
10:30 yw.
Loop 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great to see everybody so excited. I really enjoyed this event, just hope there will be one again and again and again (if not every year than ad least every two) 😁 thank you for sharing
confidence level ten hundred 🤣, famous last words before getting lost
😂
Gorgeos! Question: Are you commisioned by the city or the homeowner? If by the homeowner, do you get permission from the city first?? I have a box in my front yard (not on the sidewalk, ON my property, but obviously I don't OWN it. So I am just curious.
Commissioned by the electricity supplier. They own these boxes.
This is so cool ! My community has commissioned all the utility type boxes in our small downtown and each one is very different style and subject. But never saw the actual artist at work ! So thank you for sharing and your art is awesome as well !
Thank you!
This was great Nick. I really hope the other nine artists make a BTS video like this. When Bobby Duke said “his name” at the end 😂🤣
Episode 2 on Wednesday will be way longer 🙌
@@NickMoodybro, you probably have the other nine artists emails. Ask them to make a video like this too please!
It’s crazy that its only taken you less than 25 minutes to travel all that way and still have time to tour the building. 😮
Two questions: was this your first time in America? Did you hate American coffee? Thanks for the vids.
No, not my first time in America. I used to live in BC and spent quite a bit of time in the US too. Unfortunately not much time to go out for coffee 😂
team “clear sight foil travelling grandma protection”
He was flying to the US to finally realize he can’t paint at all 😂
Smoe, please make a video like this!!
Those prints turned out so nice, its is now the center piece above my monitors in my office!
Beautiful! Thank you for your support 🙏
How many hours did it take from leaving home to arriving? My guess is around 24. I love seeing behind the scenes, thanks for sharing :)
I can’t remember exactly. But close to it, yeah haha
Thanks for your hard work. What an adventure it has been.
It was a wild ride for sure. It’s been awesome to rewatch all the little moments now, while editing the behind the scenes.
This was so fun. After watching all of Artists in Wonderland it was like traveling with old friends. 😊
That’s what I was hoping for 🙌 Wonderful!
Seeing both of you out of your usual element is nice! Thank you for making behind the-scene vid, Nick!! ❤
Of course! Thank you.
Fun beginnings...... The traveling of trains, planes and automobiles. How many hours did you travel from home to the warehouse in Michigan?? Loved the greeting you both received upon arriving at the warehouse. ❤❤❤ Looking forward to the next episode of the behind the scenes.
Not sure, but probably like 20 hours or so… we had quite a few delays. It should have been faster.
Enjoyed this peek behind the scenes, so chill ✌
Thank you! Yeah it’s a more slow and raw approach than my main video.
so cool thanks for the behind the scenes, I enjoyed watching everyone's videos and all the amazing art. I am hoping to see another next year that would be awesome!
Thank you for your support! I love those long-form raw behind the scenes.
I absolutely loved this beyond words. I honestly haven’t stopped watching all of the Artists in Wonderland videos. I’ve watched them all at least 3 times and this extra series just so good for my soul. Danke.
That’s awesome! I hope you’ll enjoy the next episodes, too!
Cool. Lets start a restaurant now 😂
So wild seeing those walls bare lol.
It’s been a different place before for sure 😂
This is such a great idea to show behind the scenes. Fun video to watch.❤
From 1:30 minutes onwards you both only see one area to spray. 😀
Grandma lol. Thanks Nick, cant wait for the next episode.
😂
Starbucks always has WiFi😊 That was a great video 😊 The prints are so much nicer in person ❤️
Yes! Thank you!
Hope you enjoy this little Behind the Scenes series of Artists in Wonderland 2024. Ep. 2 coming out on Wednesday! ✌
Can’t get enough!!!
Next episode will be way longer!
Question do you PROTECT YOUR LUNGS? SEEN and heard far too many spay paint artist end up Dying far too soon, Because their are so few who do your type of Work not much is really heard about it. Enjoyed.. I know a Guitar Store, May be I can do this on his wall that is NEED of work, and I would love a Used Guitar, strings, Case for the art, NORMALLY I work REALISM Nature Art in Acrylic then OIL. on small canvas, but I do not have money to buy a used guitar. I am what one would call the REAL starving artist in USA before someone USED the name to mass produce same style of art, and call it Starving Artist. Guess all who help do the paintings are so called limited in $$$ money.? NOT sure I am 76, so it would mean using a ladder, And working around a time to complete, and never done anything this large, Most of my work is on 11X14" canvas( all I have available, a few are a bit larger) Would have to use your "GRID" or GOLDEN MEANS to map out. and a Template to map out first.
Absolutely. You should use a respirator all the time.
Style...
Do you put any clear sealant on these?
Yes I do
The purple backpacker and the last one were my favourites. I’m starting to document my process too, I was wondering how many cameras do you use ? And how often do you change your camera angles per painting on average. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Those are my favs, too! I usually use two cameras - One on a tripod and one POV head camera. I don't know how often I move around my tripod.. maybe like 20 times. But it doesn't matter as much. The simpler I can make it for myself to document the better. I'm always happy when I get away with only using the camera on my head.
How nice to see a red squirrel! The gray squirrels are forcing them out from everywhere!
The red ones are the most common ones here. I don’t even know if I’ve ever seen a gray one here. But I know them from other countries.
@@NickMoody Wow, not sure where you are. It looks like L.A. maybe? We have only gray here in Boston. But in London they had only red then someone introduced a gray which was devastating for the Red.
@@PaulaZF Haha that's funny! I got photos of gray squirrels in some Boston park somewhere on my hard drive. Filmed that many years ago. I was surprised they would come up to you. I live and work in Germany and those red ones are super shy.
Yes, definitely more behind the scenes videos!
G Dang that's fucking awesome buddy! Keep it up!
Wow, amazing work!
Sehr schön✌️💯💯. Da hätte ich auch direkt bock drauf. Muss man dafür jemanden bei der Stadt überreden? 😝😂✌️✌️

Hello!
I am impressed on how organized and professional you are, great job.
Thank you!
It is so charming when non-native English speakers try to say "squirrel". I think it is the hardest word to pronounce in the English language. This is in no way a critique of your English, which is actually very good (better than many native speakers). More importantly, the painting is outstanding. It seems like you did that quite quickly. How long did it take you? You seem to have a very refined ability to pick out colors and create a palette, which works extremely well. I love seeing these kinds of public boxes painted in this manner. It just brings a smile to everyone's face that sees it.
Thank you! Yeah "Squirrel" is a tough one. The German translation "Eichhörnchen" is probably equally hard for English natives 😂 Appreciate the kind words! Thanks! The painting itself (no cleaning, sanding, priming and prep work included) has roughly been 4 hours I believe.
@@NickMoody Ja, "Eichhörnchen" kann ich immer noch sehr schlecht aussprechen und ich wohne seit über 20 Jahre in Deutschland!
Probably my favorite title for a youtube video ever, so far, in my life.
Really? How come?
I bet you didn’t anticipate the hardest part of this project would be pronouncing the word “squirrel” 😅
Haha! 😂 Yeah definitely a tough word
