In the Western portion of Jersey City, lies historic Journal Square. It is often referred to as Old Downtown Jersey City. It is named after the Newspaper “Jersey Journal”, which for over 100 Years, had its Headquarters here.
The Square itself is defined as the intersection between JFK Boulevard and Bergen Avenue, where the two roads split as both begin their paths down to Bayonne. Other major streets in the area include Newark Avenue, Sip Avenue and Montgomery Street.
Located below ground in an open-cut trench is Journal Square a
PATH Station. It is a through-stop for trains traveling between World Trade Center and Newark Penn Station, and is the western terminus of PATH’s Journal Square-33rd Street line. Next to the PATH station on it's Eastern End is the former Conrail's Jersey City-Selkirk River Line, which is now used to run-around Trains for the Norfolk Southern Lehigh Line.
Above the PATH Station is Journal Square Bus Terminal. It spans from Sip Avenue to Pavonia Avenue from South-North, and is a major Transfer point for various Intrastate and Interstate NJ Transit Bus Lines, including Two 319 Trips per Weekday that originate/end here from Atlantic City (the 319 primarily operates to the Port Authority Bus Terminal).
What you'll see in this video (which is my first major upload of 2025) are PATH and NJ Transit in action.
The vast majority of buses in this video are NABI 416.15s, while all of PATH's Revenue trains are PA5s (included is a set of PA4s currently used for Work Train service). NJ Transit's oldest NABI 416.15s are currently being retired by another fleet that's shown in this video, the 2024 New Flyer XD60s.
