The Zen Cop Podcast
Приєднався 1 січ 2022
Mac Rollins (host) began his law enforcement career in 2010 in California. He is currently assigned to his agencies Detectives Bureau. The Zen Cop Podcast focuses on topics ranging from mental health, problems in policing and agency practice, to other relevant issues facing law-enforcement nationwide.
S2 Episode 16: Special Guest Darrel Lambert
In this episode we sit down with Detective Darrel Lambert to discuss some interesting topics involving interview and interrogation, confidence in interviewing, crimes against children, and how we can help keep our kids safe. Darrel currently works for a metropolitan police department in the great state of Texas. Prior to his role as a Detective, he spent five years on patrol, one year of undercover work focusing on narcotics purchases, and 4 years on the gang unit.
In January of 2018 he was promoted to the position of detective where he was assigned to the nighttime violent crimes unit. In the fall of 2018, he moved to the child abuse unit where he found his true calling. This is also where Darrel saw the importance for ongoing training for interview and interrogation.
After several years, Darrel stepped into the training arena himself and began teaching. Darrel and his partner have since taught at the Crimes Against Children Conference for the last three years, and in 2023, they formed their own company, Modern Interviewing Solutions.
Darrel has a passion for teaching and is grateful for the opportunities he has had to teach law enforcement investigators around Central Texas and, starting next year, to departments in other states as well. Along with his teaching, Darrel has also written the manuscript to a book titled "Fundamentals of Interview and Interrogation" which will be published and available for purchase soon.
It was an honor to have Darrel on the show and we will definitely be having him back again someday. Lastly, a very special shoutout to Sean Kendrick from Kendrick Knives who helped facilitate this meet up! Thank you Sean.

Video Blog 22 (#8 redux): Where am I the most at risk? On the street? Or my own agency?
Fantastic stuff, as usual. Great to hear what happens after the 15 seconds of video.
I believe Howard Unruh's "Walk of death" in 1949 was the first... I realize the point you were making though. Good stuff as always.
Agreed. The label was the problem. He was covered as a 'mass murderer' but he fit the bill. I don't think the public knew how to digest it. In terms of tactics and actions of violence, Whitman was a cut above. Unruh's shooting was very violent, but almost with the pace of Joe Biden being handed a gun.
Was just listening to S2E1 and reminded me of this one... I identify directly with both, felt like you were talking about my experience! Keep it up sir.
It always amazes how different we all are, yet for sake of experiences we almost share the exact same outcome or overall long term effects. Thanks for listening! Episode 2 is going to be a good one. Dropping next weekend.
I know I was valued, but not really appreciated.
Good for you! Would love to hear how we as family can support our loved ones in law enforcement.
