Thank you for this video. Apparently my Scottish great great grandparents were married in Ayton in the 1800’s before eventually leaving for Canada.

Found an old Wishaw Press from June 1963 with the disappearance of a 16 year old Rose Sullivan from Newmains, and a male accordionist from Coatbridge, due to perform at the Largs show. Glad to have found your video!

Loved this. A little before my time but reminded me of my Apprenticeship Days. My foreman wore a suit jacket and trousers to work and he commended me on polishing my boots every day before work. Proper good little film that 👌 👍 👏

Magical wee film, in the quest for modernisation. Funny enough, in these modern times, 60s/70s signages are being removed to disclose the old, faded hand painted signs of yore. Wishaw does indeed look quaint. Trades folk with no hard hats or high vis vest; older hands with suit jackets roll ups and newspaper in the pocket! And the dog was an absolute star! Stroll On! El

Watching the auld chippy s (joiners )at work none of your fancy battery drills in use takes me back.the old hand plane and a pad and bits.

As an apprentice electrician in mid 70s Glasgow nothing struck fear better than being told " you will need 2 trestles and a catwalk" to do a job..we used them with the catwalk on the top to repair canopy lights in petrol stations.. God help you if you accidently stepped back (or forward)

There's a wheen o'gorges that huv never been explored in scotland because they're simply inaccessible, the technology didn't exist, but it does now, when kin ye get startit, mid winter should be ideal :)

Can't believe what I'm seeing, I'm sure the younger joiner with slick back hair @ 8.28 is my Uncle John(Jack) Love from Larkhall,who went on to marry a Shotts girl, moved to East Lothian in late 50's, now living in Bundaberg Australia for the last 24 years .Jack will be 88 years old ,his wife sadly passed away 3 years ago
