Restoration of my 1957 Nash Metropolitan
I bought this car in 1985, sold it in 1990 and bought it back in 2002 and did a ground up restoration on it.

Restoration of my 1960 Nash Metropolitan

18 month restoration of my 1960 Metropolitan. I finished it in 2007. It was a 95% rust free Colorado car. It received a Gold Award last year at the Metropolitan Regional in Macungie Pa.

AMC The New 1977 Matador Commercial
Undoubtedly, a masterpiece. Unfortunately, they don’t make them anymore.
Oh, and my Matador was a 73. 304 V8 bought used at an army auction with OD green paint. Ugly as sin but I loved it.
Who is that guy at the start? He looks so familiar.
I really don't think that turkey is going to cool off the hot ones....
What does something like that cost to do.
My dad brought home a 1961 Met Conv in 1970 ....The engine was disassembled in the trunk( kinda jammed in there with the lid up). I was 15, he said if I put it back on the road I had a car. One of many great things he did for me...spent many hours in library and learned about cars...had it going running and drove it my 2nd yr highschool...next year I bought a 64 Impala Super Sport but that's a different story.......
Great Job, just starting my project and have been looking at to do a rotisserie, do you have any specs on what you used?
I WISHD ID HAD GREEN AMC MATADOR AND BLACK AMC MATADOR
AWESOME-looking car! One odd thing I noticed though: Top-line model, but no power windows.
I noticed that too.
They were available
Had one. 1978. It was okay. Nothing to write home about.
I had this car in the two-tone red/claret combo 77, visually stunning & unique to be sure. Was not a handler by any means but road softly.
I have a 59 b/w hdtp beautiful job on the restoration
These Matadors are what sunk AMC.All the developmental work sunk into these pigs left no cash to update there other cars forcing them to open the door to Renault coming in with cash and ultimately Chrysler buying them up for the Jeeps
Nice job. That's the metropolitan one I've seen.
They have to do better if they want to compete with Montycarlo and Grand prix.
By '77, Thunderbird took them all on and won. Ford sold nearly 1 million in its 3 year generation 1977-79
Wow.
Why did you not remove the rear glass?
The rubber was very good around the glass and I heard the 3 window rubbers were a bear to replace. I think if I had to do it over I would attempt replacing with a new one. I have since sold the car and it still looks great and still taking a lot of trophies. The new owner loves it.. Thanks for asking!
What's the engine model?
It has a 1500
To bad you felt the need to use all the wipes and other toys your editing program had. The sign you are insecure about your video being boring is using every crayon in the box. It could have been an interesting video. At least you did not show how big (little) your crank is.
I have know idea what your post even means!!!! Sorry if you didn't like it!!!
I am getting ready to restore a 56 nash metropolitan and I am looking for a source for parts..can you help me
Any chance of getting a copy of your notes on restoration for this car?
Thank you for your intertest in the restoration of my '60 Met. Although I never took any notes, just many pictures, I did restore another Met after this one, a 1954 (first year) convertible which is in the following link with step by step notes and photos of the process. Some photos may not appear from Image Shack since I posted them, but many are there. Enjoy! Robert metropolitan.freeforums.org/the-restoration-of-my-1954-metropolitan-541-t1829.html
Perfect restore. Awesome quality work. I especially liked seeing someone take the same care with the under carriage as they do with the rest of the body. Probably looks better than when it was originally done due to better quality paint. You also stayed spot on with the colors. Simply beautiful work.
And that my friends proves the quality of classic engines. Not to mention now it cost an arm and a leg if you want to buy a project to do with your son. I wish I could find a $50 car now days. Now I get people saying "I can scrap it for more" Yeah but anyone who would rather see a car scrapped rather than someone else take care of it don't deserve to even own a car. Yeah I have sold several cars for $100 just to watch them go to a better place. People are so scummy these days.
My dad is a dealer and he bought a Nash met. The other day. He also bought a thing and a fierio the other day
That's interesting! In 1979 I bought a '56 Met convertible for my 12 year old son for the price of $50.00. It was a father / son project. He's now 46 years old and still owns the car. It's Sunburst Yellow and Snowberry White.
That's awesome! :)
Thank you for the compliment. In 2010 I had the car judged by The Metropolitan Owners Club of North America (MOCNA). It won a Gold and scored 399 1/2 out of 400. The most points of any Met ever judged. I tried to get the car as close to the day it was new.
That's the right way to restore. Good job!
What a stunning car.
Great video. Wish i had the space to do it.
Most parts are being reproduced. The 54/55 parts are a bit harder to come by. There are some good vendors. Two I use mostly are The Metropolitan Pit Stop in California and MRS in Pennsylvania. I purchased an original 1954 Convertible 2 years ago that runs great. I plan on restoring that shortly.
@PreacherBoy1984 Hi PreacherBoy, The color is called MardiGras Red. I matched a small part of the car to PPG's "Signal Red". They matched up perfect. It does have some orange (tint) in it. Not a true bright red. The white is an off/white called Frost white. They compliment each other well......

My wife and I are debating if its red or orange??
Thank you..............
Absolutely excellent work.
LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING IT.
@JIMMYAD46 Thanks Jim...........I have one more to restore. It's a 54 convertible. I'll post later........
nice JOB ON THIS ONE ALSO.
YEP I WAS 24 THEN NOW IM 48 THOSE DAYS ARE OVER LOL.
@dowopper51 ...Your very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll take the older cars any day for styling over what we have today.
@JIMMYAD46 Thank you..........I'm sure that Grand Marque was a chore to do. It's a lot of work..........
VERY NICE REMINDS ME OF WHEN I RESTORED MY 1978 MERCURY GRAND MARQUE BROUGHAM BACK IN 1986,87 WHAT A JOB THAT WAS GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NASH.
