State of the Shop, April 2024
Here's a rambling walk around inside the shop where I talk about what's where and sometimes why. Much of the shop is falling into place and starting to take shape. It's an evolution as sometimes you have to drag something in place to actually see and feel it, in order to figure out if it works there or not.

Rollup door installation
Переглядів 333 місяці тому
It's been a realization that I should have planned on a door for the lean-to side of my building. So that is finally being handled now. Also added outside lights on each side of the door which required additional conduit and wiring, along with mounting provisions. A lot of work, but totally worth it. Some pics of the door open and closed, videos of it operating and a time lapse of its installat...
Eclipse 2024 drone view
Переглядів 223 місяці тому
I put the drone up in the air to see how things looked during the eclipse on April 8, 2024 in northeastern Ohio. It got dark. Who knew? Even this camera was adjusting for the dim light and didn't show it as dark as it was.
Eclipse 2024 Time Lapse

Attempted a time lapse video of the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 from northeastern Ohio. Got lucky with the weather, but forgot about the infrared night vision in the trail camera. Sadly doesn't show how dark it really got.
State of the Shop, Jan. 2024

This is a crummy walk around video of the shop as it stands beginning of January, 2024. Unfortunately it's taking longer, and costing more than I planned on. But I am making progress and getting closer to moving in.
Fall colors from above

Fourth flight of my new to me drone trying to capture the fall colors in and around my yard. No editing, just straight to upload. Like those sad movies that went straight to video rentals instead of the theatre.

      It still won't be cheap unfortunately. I had the tranny re-built while it was off so mo' money. The shop that I had replace the oil pan did not install the flex plate correctly. The flex plate should have been against the crank, then the hardened washer plate and then the fasteners. The flex plate clearly shows where the fastener flanges ate into it leading to failure. So if you do it yourself, don't make that mistake.

    • @chucksterock
      @chucksterock 2 роки тому

      I've always been around 145F no matter what I do to it. Unlike a 125 that is hard to warm up, these are easily warmed without blankets or towels. That means they also don't loose heat as easily as a 125 and takes more effort to keep cool.

    hi chuck i havent raced superkarts since 1990, but i started in 64, your cr doesnt seem very strong , are your temp gauges in c or f , the track looks super quick ,if you change that racecar suit for a set of leathers you wont believe how much faster you will go, fabric suits kill speed,in the vid you can see how much the air is getting in the arms of your suit ,thats drag , the wind dont go through leather,,have fun racing

    • @chucksterock
      @chucksterock 5 років тому

      My temp gauges are in F. I don't think the CHT was accurate as the water temp on the gauge mounted to the pod was reading about 135 F, almost the same or even higher. I know it was jetted pig rich since I didn't get any practice to recalibrate the Jet Tech Pro software I use to set the jet versus ambient weather conditions. If you watch the rear view, I'm blowing a lot of smoke out the back. And my timing was just a little retarded too. Was basically playing it safe since I had a disaster of a season last year due to a coolant additive change that I just couldn't believe was the problem. The track was very quick, I left a lot out there since the only laps I have on the new surface were what you saw above. Leathers would be nice, but at this point in my life it probably won't happen. Might be better if I can get out of my fat boy suit into a smaller size. Still fun though!

      The center of the flex plate was completely ripped out. It was a ragged fracture that could carry some load as we were still driving the truck. The fracture occurred pretty close to the outer diameter of the crank flange and wasn't visible through the inspection plate in the bell housing.
