Not the proper way to eliminate grubs

A delicacy in some countries however I do not recommend this as the best treatment option. Treat with dylox for great control of these pesky and not so tasty pests.

how to remove Dallis Grass

ProTip: Easier than hand pulling or shovel digging is to use a cordless reciprocating saw with 12" flexible blade and cut a circle around the dallisgrass weed, pull up the plug, strip the dirtball dirt back into the hole and sprinkle a few grass seeds on top. EZ PZ
I used a cheap 8" chef's boning knife and cut circles around the plants. Made it easier to pull out by the roots. Then, just cleared out the dead weeds, and filled dirt back into the hole. Your way sounds easier. Thanks!
@@chrisf5007 Using a $50 Chinese reciprocating saw works good on a well defined, round Dallisgrass weeds, but I’m going to get a knife like you described to get after some I’ve recently noticed intertwined in backyard centipede grass, and use a more surgical approach
I usually use old pitch fork but that another solution thanks
You may not want this told, but individuals can still legally purchase and apply MSMA on their own lawns. In my Zoysia lawn, for many years, I thought crabgrass was rampant. After applying Prodiamine 65WG, unsuccessfully I might add, for a couple of years...I finally somehow figured out that my problem was Dallisgrass! With it being a perinneal weed, the Prodiamine is an ineffective solution. Works great for crabgrass, but not Dallisgrass. Last summer I applied MSMA to the Dallisgrass in my Zoysia. I thought I had killed both the Dallisgrass and Zoysia. However, after several weeks, the Zoysia fully recovered! MSMA is the preferred solution to Dallisgrass in warm season lawns. However, it can only be legally applied by the DIY homeowner!
I am so impressed. Thank you.
Wouldn't 2,4-d be better than glyphosphate?
A lot smarter and easier to put on rubber gloves and smooth roundup on the dalllisgrass ONLY lol
Extremely hard to distinguish dallis grass from bahia.
Celsius, revolver, plus tenacity
I have a 2.5 acres pasture infested. I found Celsius, but what rates with Revolver and Tenacity? Mix all together? Thanks
If you hand pull make sure the ground is soaked. It comes up really easy. It took me 2 years to get rid of Dallisgrass because I was initially treating it like Crabgrass. I used a Vinegar salt mix and hand pull to get rid of mine. 2 years later the battle is minimized as they pop up every season at a minimal.
If you have Hybrid Bermuda, I wouldn't recommend going to a big box store and buying that "common" Bermuda crap they have in rolls......You'll end up with 2 different textures of Bermuda in your lawn and the optics will look ridiculous. Especially when the common Bermuda starts spreading through out the lawn.
@DiceMan, how do I know if I have common or hybrid Bermuda? Our yard was in terrible shape when we bought the property and we’ve done little more than not let it get worse.
the common bermuda will also tend to grow a little taller than the hybrid... if you mow enough you might be able to minimize the common/wild bermuda from the hybrid... since it will also have a tighter node pattern and kinda deny the common as much access to the soil... might also depend on climate too
Have you noticed any success with waiting for bermuda to go dormant and then hitting the dallis grass spots with glyphosate? I have read there is a couple week window that dallis grass will stay active longer than Bermuda.
This is my question too. I have it pretty widespread in a large yard. My plan is to wait until ground temps are below 50° when my Bermuda is dormant and spray mostly the whole yard with glyphosate 40%. I planned to spray most everything because the glyphosate could delay the green up of the Bermuda in the spring and I’d just want the whole yard to green up at the same time. However, I’m not tied to that plan. Just a thought. It will be late November at least before my Bermuda would be dormant, so I have time. Also, I planned if possible to spray in a relatively warm winter day. Ideas or comments welcome to my plan.
I did it this past winter just spot treating. I had a ton in a neglected bermuda yard. I waited until Dec. and Jan. to hit it. Bermuda completely dormant, and anything green doesn't belong. It worked as I have little of it this season. I am still fighting it though. Pre-em won't get those seeds left behind, and my neighbors on both sides of me don't seem to care anything about their yards. They are full of weeds that grow to seed before being mowed and sprayed into my yard because they mow maybe once every week and a half in the peak growing season. I'd say the glyphosate improved things and will continue to considering the odds stand against me.
@@Darth_Skater I’m in the exact situation with my Neighbors. All they have is Dallisgrass. Super annoying but once you figure it out it’s so damn rewarding.
@@Darth_Skater Same frustrating problem here. What growing zone are you in?
