2005 Chevy 2500HD Bump stops - Restore your trucks steering feel!
Переглядів 3,3 тис.3 роки тому
Upfront, sorry about the camera work here. Working to do better in the future. I hope the content itself is worth the watch. In short, for these trucks, the bump stops are an integral part of your suspension and greatly impact the steering feel of your truck. I was surprised to find this out as I was chasing steering issues. But I can confirm proper bump stops installed changed the way this tru...
2005 Chevy 2500HD - Steering gear feel - Expert opinions wanted
Переглядів 613 роки тому
Steering gear is a remanufactured unit installed by a previous owner. Steering is tight on center, but when the steering is turned all the way to the ends, but off the locks, there are a few degrees of play when you grab the pitman arm. What do you guys think? I'm still fighting the steering being over assisted left, and doesn't want to self center, to over assisted right, does want to self cen...
2500HD Door electrical not working Easy Fix!
Переглядів 213 роки тому
Door wiring connector plugged into the wrong place. Easy fix guys. I don't know if this is a common issue or not. I'm going to guess not, but perhaps it might help someone else. Terms in this video I know I kept confusing, so to clear that up: Door actuator = Door switch. The part that operates the dome light, radio, accessories, etc. Electrical connectors are "keyed" so you can't put them in t...

LS Engine - Rusted / Broken oil dipstick tube - removal
Переглядів 15 тис.4 роки тому
Hey guys, I imagine if you are watching this video, you likewise have a stuck oil dipstick tube in your LS series engine. This was done on a 2005 Chevy 2500HD with a LQ4 engine. A couple of notes that I forgot to mention in the video: 1) This work was done with the exhaust manifold removed. I'm positive this made this method easier to perform. 2) After removing the dipstick tube, I took a 3/8" ...
I try it now
take the 4 bolts off holding the Sway Bar and you can pull down out of the way and have plenty of room
had the same problem with my bolts coming loose. otherwise, solid value product. don’t love the huge logo on the arms but whatever. all the other short arm options are either twice the price or a lot heavier
I think this would work for pulling water pump too
Thanks for the reviews of em! I was looking into buy one!
And why don't you use pickle forks?? They've worked great for me!
The original set I had was from Harbor Freight, and they broke immediately. Plus you run the risk of damaging the rubber boots. I've found that disrupting the metal bond with a sideways hammer strike always works. So it became my default practice and one less tool in the box. Of course, just my experiences and opinion. Not going to toss shade on someone else that is using a method successfully.
Only 49 subs? This guy's underrated.
Only 49 subs?! This guy's underrated.
It took me longer to put jack stands under the truck than it did to change the Bump Stop. (Also didn't need to remove wheels.)
Did you ever figure this out. My Chevy Silverado has same issue. Thanks.
I don't remember what I did or didn't post. Been a few years. The steering feel was definitely in the steering box. I didn't crack it open to see what was wrong. I just got a known good unit out of a local junk yard, and the problem was solved.
Worked like an absolute dream for me
thanks for posting the video man having same problem
Just as a note mine is a 4x4 model axles is on the way kinda😂😂 good video brotha
Metal or plastic is the question kind sr
Not sure I understand the question. But I see I've been tardy on responses. Sorry about that guys.
Great idea & I like that the video is short
This helps will certainly keep in mind if it does break off
I will be trying this tomorrow. I appreciate the video whether it works for me or not
Thank you for sharing your problem and solution. I do appreciate all that you shared.
Thanks a lot for all this information… good stuff ✌️
THIS WORKED SO WELL!! 1/4" Lag and a slide hammer. Two pulls and it was out. You are a lifesaver1
Click bait
Thanks for posting
Hey man I just did mine but there was a plate where the bump stop goes. Where the frame is and I'm looking at the old one and it came out in one piece... The bump stop alignment pin doesn't wanna go up into the hole
Oh, its been a while. But I remember the bump stops on my truck were pretty much gone. Basically just the backing plates left. Held in with one nut and like you mention an alignment pin. Might need to get after it with a torch and a hammer. I didn't need to though...
But you never show how to remove the Pitman arm literally
Sorry man, just figuring out how to film stuff. Given the equipment I had at the time, I couldn't get a good shot.
I tried this idea before I saw your video and the screw along with the rest of the dipstick tube fell into the oil pan, it wasn’t too big of a deal removing the pan bc I already had the engine out. But now I’m having trouble installing the new dipstick tube. I’ve looked up on installing them and people say that it’s just a snug fit. But I’ve put all my effort on pushing this thing into the block and it just won’t go. It’s a gen 4 6.0 from 2008. The dipstick tube pn is the Dorman 917-433
For what its worth i sand the paint off of the new tube on either side of the o-ring, and under the “lip” that seats it. This decreases the diameter of the new tube ever so slightly. Reinstall o-ring, and coat the whole bottom end of it (lip down) in a heavier grease. When you go to install it, press firmly and turn the entire tube back and forth as much as you can while doing so. Normally this allows it to walk down pretty well. May take a few taps to the upper side of the seating lip with a long flat blade and hammer if that doesnt work
I realize this is a year old, but it may help guys out In The future. The dorman tubes are garbage, a new gm tube from the dealer is the same price and slides in like nothing.
@@zanevanmiddelkoop7484 I eventually got the tube in like how ProMods Performance suggested but the dipstick itself has a really hard time going through the dipstick tube. I’m about to scrap the Dorman one and get one from the dealer like you said. Hopefully the dealer also has a trans dipstick too
@@fat_cat8457 the gm one will slide right in, just a little pressure to get the oring in. Probably deformed the Forman trying to force it in. Been there done that!
Do you need to learn how to do a video you're all over the freaking place
Good Job, did you take off the 11mm steering shaft bolt from gear box?
Great video. My shit just broke on the Yukon.
I was confused as hell. Thnks
I need to do a follow up video here. Perhaps this next weekend. Ive done a bunch of work on this truck. The steering feel malfunction ended up being the steering gear. Drives great now.
I've got this same problem!! Thanks for the video!
Omg stfu and get on with info stop talking
Really appreciate the video, I just bought a 02 silverado z71 with the 5.3 liter engine, owner put headers on it, but broke dipstick tube off flush with the block, my question is, did you do this when you had header off? I don't want to pull header if I can avoid it, thanks KP!
Sorry, I went mia! I did it with the exhaust manifold off. Depending on the header, I think you could do it with the header in place.
Gonna go try it now! This will be my last resort before pulling the pan!
Did it work boss
Worked for me, thanks for the idea.
Were you able to get it out with the manifold /header on?
@@kaptain7659 I didn't, but I was taking those manifold off anyway, so I would say no, but I didn't try it that way.
great idea thanks very helpful.
Good job 👍👍. My next move if this half broke stuck tube breaks on me even more. Soaking it now.. .
Excellent video! Short and to the point.
