Chinook Crafter
Приєднався 11 січ 2023
Hi! My name is Michelle (she/her) and I live in Mohkinstsis, part of the Treaty 7 land area, more commonly known as Calgary. This channel is mainly to explore my love and interest for cross stitch, though you will see some quilting and other fibre arts make an appearance, as well as a little book talk near the end.
Besides being crafty, I am in the magical chaos of parenthood that is having two babies under the age of 2, corralling the two giant cats we have rescued (they make guest appearances), and trying to be more sustainable by gardening and making kitchen messes. I also run long distances, kick box, and hike though those have taken a back seat in recent years.
If all this sounds interesting, thanks for stopping in! You can also find me over on Instagram as @chinookcrafter

flosstube 20: 2025 plans and goals
Hello again all my flossy folks! Thanks for checking back in with me after both my long absence and flurry of flosses videos. Please join me for a quick ramble about my thoughts and plans for next year which include here for posterity:
Year of WIPS: to be finalized still, but I have it mostly fleshed out, and pairing it with #GetOutOfMyWipsAndOntoMyWallSAL hosted by @DaybreakStitchery and @resiststitch
WIPGO: resurrecting my board from 2024 and a whole new board using Spellbound Stitches Volume 3 and pairing the bookmark stitching with the recommended book
#AYearofNatureWalksSAL as these have been on my to do list and I hope I can make a good start on these
#Stitch4Pride2024 and #Stitch4Pride2025 from @dees20stitches as I started late last year and it's never too late to learn and grow
Those are the solid plans, but I am as always open to all the new and exciting bits and bobs

Flosstube #15: WIP Parade & 1 Year Flossiversary
It was so great to meet you on the Canada Swaps chat!
I re-found you Michelle. I think it is amazing that you are still crafting so well while working and being mother to toddlers. I am so pleased to have met you yesterday and hope we can stitch together in the future. Take care of you. 🦉🧵🪡🇨🇦
Enjoyed hearing about your plans! I too, am so easily distracted by new pretty things. But letting go of the things no longer serving us is a great way to go into this coming year. I’m already getting excited for Stitch North! It’ll be so good to see you in person again!
Happy New Year! I hope to do the same this year and work on my WIP"s.
Girl, I am OBSESSED with your hair!!! It looks so pretty and healthy! I love that you're still doing smalls WIPGO and bookmark WIPGO. It's gonna be so much fun to see what you get done!
A Spellbound Stitches bookmark WIPGO is such a good idea!!! I need to get stitching on those too. Enjoyed seeing all your plans! Happy Stitching!
Happy to see a video from you! I'm slowly catching up on all the flossmas goodness that was put out! I'll be participating in the year of nature walks as best as I can. I'm so blessed to have participated in at least 1 fully on track round Robin with you, you're such a lovely stitchy friend to have ❤ All the best in 2025 for you and your family
I do hope you have a peaceful New Year and a more peaceful 2025. Stick to your plan, it sounds beneficial.
Distracted by the shinies- so true! I'm excited to work on WIPs and to have folks who are into doing the same. Definitely going to be cheerleaders for you and Alicia and me too as we get some of these pieces done and onto our walls! Also, big hugs to you for just getting through the day to day of being a mom to little ones. It's a miracle that you get to do any stitching at all!
Right after posting this I find out Stitch With Coffee is doing a new monthly series 🤭
That kitty ornament you received was absolutely adorable and wonderfully finished.
Wow! I love the mug! I hope you all feel better soon. Thank you for doing Flossmas videos. They have been a pleasure to watch. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
@@sugarplumstitcher thanks! We got it decades ago for my dad and he decided I needed the biggest mug for honey tea while there. It wasn’t the Christmas we had planned for but we had good family time. Hope you had a good one too!!
What a cute dog. Your ornament looks great!
That is nice to do an exchange. The ornament you did was fantastic. The snowflake fabric matched perfectly.
Happy Winter Solstice!
Congratulations on your finish. It looks fantastic!
Thank you! It’s so cute, and it definitely got a lot of comments from people that saw me stitching on it during my breaks

The finish is so cute! I'm going to start Santa's Secret by Dimensions, the designer is Patti Gay.Take care🎄💝
I hope she feels better soon.
Seems to just be making her a little extra crabby, it was a FUN day
I had no plans but since my Year of the Dragon ornament stitched up so nice and I have more of the same fabric..........I may do one for myself and I would start it on Christmas day.

Really enjoyed your 1st flossmas.Take care🎄💝
@@beubeuhandcrafts984 thanks for watching!
Funny, the thread color matched your sweater.
@@sugarplumstitcher perhaps I have a favourite colour 🤭
It's a great color.
The reindeer will look fantastic with that fabric and thread. I love those Christmas ornament books.
I’m excited to start it! I’m a big fan of the ornament editions, there’s always a couple I want to do 🥰
Your ornament looks fabulous! Holly pattern material would look good on the back.
I love The Nutcracker. Your ornament is looking great.
@@sugarplumstitcher lots of fond holiday memories watching it, and guess I’m hoping to carry it on!
@@sugarplumstitcher also, I had wondered with your username!
You’re stitching more than me and I’m not working! 😂 Your mom sounds like a fantastic person!
I started a new Dragon Dreams ornament on Friday to stitch at the Jingle Ball. It is The Year Of The Dragon from the 2012 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament book. It called for satin DMC but I didn't have that so I used regular DMC.
@@sugarplumstitcher oh my gosh YES!!! So excited you started one. I’ve been slowly accumulating the older JCS magazines for that reason (there’s a CD copy of like decades worth but I’m being stubborn) Also I really don’t like the satin DMC stitches, they just don’t lie neat!
A tip I've heard for fuzzy fibers like that is do the bottom leg in a matching color and the top leg in the fuzzy fiber.
@@texadianstitcher ooooh, I will have to try that next time. This was a fairly small area so it has just been annoying. I changed my needle size and dig out a threader and it’s going better. My biggest tip so far is: don’t lick it to thread it
The fuzzy stuff does look nice on the ornament. I have never worked with it yet.
@@sugarplumstitcher it’s definitely adding a little something something. I noticed it was called for in quite a few other JCS Christmas ornaments as well so I guess it’s sticking around
Oh those look helpful for finishing. My son bought me a ticket for the Jingle Ball as part of my Christmas present so I hope to see you there.
@@sugarplumstitcher what a good kiddo! I hope my kids buy me cross stitch stuff when they are old enough to pick. I hope you had a great time, I was on the fence about attending and between work and family stuff it didn’t happen. But I’ve made my list of designs to purchase next year…
Oooh! I can’t wait to see your ornament finishes!
@@CrossStitchJo I just realized I am not loving my options for coordinating fabric for some of the ones I could finish 🤪
New starts ..... FUN! It was a great freebie from Primrose Cottage. It would look great on either fabric, I think. Good luck and happy stitching.
You stitched it pretty quickly. Well done! I myself have never tries a round ornament. Just squares or I use 14 count plastic canvas sometimes if I need to cut them out like Mill Hill kits.
It’s under 600 stitches so that definitely helped! I don’t think I’ve done round before, but it just seemed like it would suit the shape. But now I’m cursing it a little
It is an adorable ornament. I never usually date or initial anything either. Only on rare occasions.
I feel like holiday ornaments where it’s charted are about the one exception for me because I do love the ones with dates on my tree. But for the most part, I really don’t like signing my work and I don’t know why 😅
Love the intro!
Canva makes me look like I know what I’m doing all the time
