Drill bit shown at 5:50 is blunt. After going about two thirds, no chips are coming out. Wasting a lot of time and energy - don't they know when and how to sharpen it?
No! - it had got to the bottom of the hole!
@@adrianwright8685 It is correct that the properly formed chips stopped when the bit got to the bottom of the hole, but it is still the case that the drill bit is blunt - that's why proper chip formation stopped. Either that or the operator did not apply sufficient axial load an i don't think that was the case. Note that a large diameter drill operates the same way as a small diameter drill, as the tip geometry is the same and in proportion. In diy work with hand-held drills and no flood coolant, using a pilot drill can be useful in reducing the axial load required, but in industrial drilling, pilot drill bits are generally not used, as plenty of axial load and coolant is employed.
