बसंत पंचमी के साथ ही ब्रज में होली की शुरुआत हो जाती है और ये सिलसिला लगातार 40 दिनों तक चलता है. इस बीच ब्रज के तमाम क्षेत्रों बरसाना, मथुरा, वृंदावन, नंदगांव वगैरह में अलग-अलग तरह की होली खेली जाती है.ब्रज की होली को देखने के लिए देश-विदेश से लोग मथुरा, बरसाना पहुंचते हैं.
वैसे तो ब्रज में 40 दिन की होली में हर दिन मंदिरों में अलग-अलग उत्सव चलते है लेकिन मुख्य रूप से होली के 7 दिनों तक ब्रज में एक अलग ही रौनक होती है. जिसकी शुरुआत बरसाना की लड्डू और लट्ठमार होली से होती है. उसके बाद ही सभी प्रमुख मंदिरों में होली के अलग-अलग त्योहार मनाए जाते है
